I'm getting fed up with these players. Wish we would just play something like this from now on

-----------------Romero----------
Dalot Smalling Lindelöf Shaw
McTominay Gomez Pogba
Rashford Greenwood Sanchez/Chong

The likes of Young, Martial, Lukaku, Matic, Lingard are not good enough or not trying hard enough imo.

Gomes anchoring the midfield? And what’s Sánchez done to deserve to be in this team?

I can’t wait for these shitty platers to get hounded out the club.

If it takes 2-3 years then so be it but we need a proper restart.

I totally agree with Slaven Bilic on this.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The board need to show some spine and back the manager against the players. Same like how Spurs backed Pochettino. City backed Guardiola. They have disciplined their players now.

I also loved the quote from Solsjaer at the beginning where he mentioned changing the culture and survival of the fittest. I hope he gets the power to throw certain players out if he sees fit. He understands now the problems at the club that all the previous managers faced.

I'd take that for the rest of the season. The rest are spent.

Well he’s saying the right things and I hope these post match comments are aimed at the board too. Serious investment and clearout needs to happen. It should have happened last year but for whatever reason it didn’t, and we stuck with Young and Valencia as full back options along with neglecting the same area in previous years like no true right sided forward or right sided winger.

Follow Real and Bayerns lead and announce new signings whilst the seasons ongoing. We’ve barely got anything to play for, it’s Arsenal losing to Palace that has somehow kept these faint hopes of Top 4 hanging by a single thread.

The worrying thing is that some of them have been here for years and we can't get shut. We only just got rid of Fellani...

Yeah but I feel it’s finally coming to a head. The manager has always took the flack, he won’t this time, the fans will turn in the players before Ole and you’ll see that this coming Wednesday when they get good out of the stadium.

Agree. I'm just glad Solskjær has come in now because he'd be gone by Christmas if this was our form around October next season with these players. They're fecking cowards.

No one was saying Ole was a mistake when we offered him the job

He had earned it with results . The problem is the same as it has always been since Fergie left .

Too many average players and too far behind the top teams .

Ole needs time to bring in the players he wants and to get rid of those he doesn't

It's looking increasingly likely that Ole's run of results as interim manager were the classic new manager bounce. The players have reverted to type so in that sense it's back to square one for Ole. He will know what he has in terms of ability, attitude and application re his squad. That's the beauty of his interim period. Every manager gets spankings during their tenure. Chances are more will be handed out especially with City up next. As long as he learns with each game then good can be retrieved from a perceived disaster. His spell is now back to Mourinho ending without the managerial negativity briefings.
United are unlikely to have a budget suitable to overhaul the squad in one transfer window. It's going to take 2/3 years to turn United around. As long as the majority of Ole's signings show a good eye for a player he should be persisted with. He will sign duds every manager does.
He will be hurting. He's not just there for a pay check. He loves the club. That alone has transformed the mood around the club. Fans are by nature fickle and they can swing from extremes of emotions as this thread shows if read from the start.
Klopp may not guide Liverpool to the league title this year but year on year you can see improvement. You can see what he is trying to do. You can see he sees season on season deficiencies in his squad and he has subsequently rectified them to where we are realistic challengers for the league. Yes he hasn't won anything yet but the progress he has made is clear for all to see.
I would suggest the first thing Ole does is to prioritise the signings of a RB, and two CBs as starters. United have plenty firepower. All great teams are build on a strong defence. He may have to sacrifice the United Way of playing in the short term in favour of pragmatism. Interesting times ahead for United.

This is a good thing after a trashing like this. No more rose colours and honeymoon days. Easier to get rid of players who are not Man Utd players. Jury is still out on Ole for me, but atleast he had the spine to stand in front of the camera and apologize

For me, it's very clear that this is not a Manchester United team.

Ole is talking up the pre-season for a number of reasons which make absolute sense imo. Firstly, the pre-season without a world cup and after a proper rest will allow him to have a better judgement of his players. Secondly, during the pre-season our younger guns will give the older ones a run for their money. With no stress about dropping invaluable points and thus missing top 4, promoted players will be able to demonstrate their true abilities. Thus, established players will have to either compete or f..ck off. Also, we may have a new player or two by that time, so the gaffer will be able to at least start building a foundation of his team. This season is a write off, but Solskjaer at least now has a clear idea of who he wants to keep and who he'd not mind to let go.

Gomes anchoring the midfield? And what’s Sánchez done to deserve to be in this team?

I just threw some names out.Scott or Fred could anchor I guess.
Thought Sanchez looked good when he came on vs Barca.. We spent a gazillion on him and we'll probably not be able to sell him, so might as well play him over Martial or Lingard in hope that he can rediscover his form. He is after all one of very few players we have that has potential of being world class. He always works hard too, which I like.

Exciting times... not.

A preseason won't make up for being tactically inferior to managers like Nuno Santos and Marco Silva.

Solskjaer isn't PL quality, he was relegated with Cardiff and since then no PL clubs have shown any interest in him.

A leggy team with good tactics are still decent to watch, even if they lose.

Olé has no clue how to impose dominant, 'big club' tactics onto a game at this level - he sat there today and did nothing, he had absolutely no ideas how to even try and change the balance of the game.

The club should act now and bring in a manager worthy of this massive job - let Solskjaer go, and preserve his great legend as a player.

He isn't a good enough manager, and it's crystal clear.

Solskjaer stressed fitness and pre-season because that's something he can give the press by way of an explanation which is not a direct attack on his players. Yes fitness is an issue but is not the entire story. It served as a convenient talking point to avoid discussing other less savoury aspects of today's performance.

As for the rest IMO we should wait until the end of the season and then decide. I also agree that Ole has shown nothing to demonstrate that he is ready to go toe-to-toe with Klopp and Pep.

The team wasn't ready to play so many difficult games in the league, FA Cup and CL. Ole had to prioritise.

It was damning that he got nothing out of them in the second half. What on earth was his time team talk?

How do you motivate that squad?

De Gea - Stalling on contract, more than likely views not qualifying for the Champions league as a route out of the club.
Dalot - He's a kid, he should be getting minutes here and there, not thrown in the deep end.
Smalling - Playing out of his skin but in truth not been good enough since the days of Sir Alex.
Jones - Same as above.
Lindelof - Improved after a disaster of a first season, lately, he's been a major part of the 'already on the beach brigade'.
Fred - Dragged off at half time, no idea why he was chosen to play ahead of Mctomminey considering how well he's been playing and how crap Fred has been all season.
Matic - Been out injured but has struggled for the last month. I'd say father age is catching up with him and he's suffering.
Pogba - A luxury player you can't carry when the chips are down. He also the worst player I've known from the new generation of a footballer. He holds all the power over the manager, he's the money making machine in the business and he decides if he gives a feck or not.
Martial - Disgrace of a man, cheated on both of his babies mothers and clearly doesn't like the game he's been blessed to play. Attitude stinks.
Rashford - Top talent but playing with players who clearly don't have the same drive or ambition as he does. His visible frustration with Fred today suggests all is not well in his camp either.
Lukaku - Believes he's better than he is and in truth, he's bloody awful. Bad attitude and conditioning over the season has been the main issues.

Ole is the man to clear the decks, he should have the respect and the name to see the clearance of all those players other than Rashford. I'm serious that whole eleven needs stripping down to just Rashford and potentially Dalot.

Fully behind Ole to be honest, you could tell he was hurting same as all of us who have United at heart. I expect cardinal changes this summer both in terms of personnel and mentality. He needs to be backed in all the aspects by the board.

Yup.

I was slightly concerned when I heard Solskjaer play down the business we’ll do this summer and talked about needing multiple windows to put it right. I suspect under the current ownership and structure, the job is basically impossible. Anything resembling relative success will be used as a justification for not allowing him to invest in better players.

Easier said than done.

Part of his job is to take those difficult decisions. I'm sure it wasn't easy for Klopp to get out of the cups so early but apparently it was the right decision. Had Liverpool played their best team in the FA Cup, they'd have lost the league by now.

Mourinho had the same issue that OGS is talking about now, but let's not revision the history here. Mourinho was given players some of the players he's asked for. OGS will be given some of the players he's asking for. The problem is it probably won't be the first or second choice, just like it probably wasn't under Mourinho for a variety of reasons such as team performance, CL, or the manager. This isn't going to change either until there is a dedicated team to surround the manager for transfer decisions that don't take marketability or financial return as the first two priorities. Winning should be all that matters to that team and they should have the authority to do so without some accountant overseeing it.

If he can't raise our performance now against City and Chelsea then I am not sure he is the right guy. Getting results when things gets harder and being able to raise the team is what it is all about from a man management perspective.

Also would like to see some new tactical ideas in attack. We have created almost nothing recently and we just keep trying the same things which doesn't work.

I am not sure we will ever reach the top with Ole. I guess if we get in the very best players in the world we could, but then we need to spend crazy amounts of money

Ole's transfer record before us is pretty irrelevant. Different world going after players to stay in the premier league or compete for the Norwegian league compared to try and be the best and have a massive budget. It's a big unknown really. But I hope everyone takes a ruthless approach and not look at anyone like they're too big of a name to sell. We need to send a message this summer, if not, nothing changes.
If we can't judge him on his past.. What can we judge him on? Hope?

Second tweet contains what needs to be said, and the board needs to let him get rid of who he feels can't cut it and lack the mentality to be at United, I don't give a shit if we take a big loss on some of these players, just get them out of the club, pay the ransom to get rid of them.
It’s too easy to blame the players and as we found out earlier in the season it’s completely counterproductive. Ole has to start by proving himself tactically and on the training ground. I’ve been a bit bemused by some of the selections lately and there’s a lack of impact made on games with subs. Given what we know about these player’s mentality and the rollercoaster they’ve been on this year it doesn’t seem smart to get back to the “manager does the winning and players do the losing” blame game. Comments before kick off clearly had an impact. Until we are ready to replace them, it makes no sense to throw them under the bus. Clearly not the way to get the best out of them.

Our performances have been bad for a while now.

Gradually getting worse and worse.

Woodward is a clown. He's destroyed the club.

We clearly had no plan when Mourinho was sacked.

Gonna copy/paste something I posted in the matchday thread.

The moment we extended the first one (Young or Jones, I don't remember), I knew it was Ole who would be made permanent because it never made any sense to extend a player without his ok and his ok wouldn't matter if he wasn't lined up as a permanent manager.
All in all, Ole was to be the permanent manager from the go, we have been fooling ourselves

If he okay'd those extensions, we are literally doomed and people are fooling themselves hoping for improvement next season.

We legit might need new owners to change everything at the club.

The Glazers don't care about winning.

The worrying thing is that some of them have been here for years and we can't get shut. We only just got rid of Fellani...
And for all Fellaini fault, he is deemed by all the managers as professional, giving his all (limited though). What OGS is saying clearly is not just about talent, but the work ethnic, the mentality.

I am not saying selling Fellaini was wrong. The issue is OGS said the right thing but it's pretty much the same thing some people already discussed long before we got into the picture. And even with him here, he doesn't look like he has full say in things re: Young/Jones extension, then Martial wage.

Ole does speak the right things - so that's a good start. However, there's no evidence that his methods have worked on such a scale, so we are just going to have to wait and see.

I have no doubt he did.

I don't know why people are optimistic then if he did.

The thread from Wumminator talking about being positive going forward - I'm never been less positive regarding the club going forward.

It really wouldn't shock me if we're sitting in 5-6th by Christmas again next season and Ole is under pressure to get sacked.

I really don't see anything regarding the club to be positive about. I did when Mourinho was sacked and we talked about a 'plan' and wanting to bring in a DOF. I thought maybe Woodward would give up say on football matters and 'modernize' the club.

It's the hope that kills.

We need new owners.

One of Ole's best post-match pressers today. He knows exactly what needs to be done and just needs time to do it. There's going to be some big changes at the end of this season. Players are in for a shock. I think he just wants this season over with and who can blame him.

Absolutely. The work ethic within our squad is embarrassing to say the least. A whole of 'it's not my job' and no team work.

I just look back to the Barcelona game when Ashley Young made that mistake and cost us a goal. He had the ball three or four times before he lost it, he never looked comfortable on the ball, we could all see that but yet his team mates kept putting him under more pressure by giving him the ball back instead of getting rid. Why would you do that to a team mate who you know is most likely going to lose it if you give him the ball with Messi hovering? Because you're a fecking shit house, that's why and you're only thinking about not making a mistake yourself and not that your team mate might drop a bollock instead.

If we can't judge him on his past.. What can we judge him on? Hope?
It's like any manager who has had virtually no experience of note before taking over a big club. Zidane before Madrid (and still now), Pep before taking over at Barca, Ole here... Many other examples. You just have to see how it plays out. No point getting pissed off before hand or building up random scenarios in your head of him getting it all wrong. We have to wait and see what sort of players he'll go after. Would also help to see exactly what Woodwards role is when it comes to signings, does he push signings on managers, does he just get a list from the manager of preferences or positions and then goes after that, etc... It's all impossible to know from the outside looking in.

The only thing we can use to be positive is that Ole "knows the club". This great club has almost been reduced to ashes. Its scary to think that such an organisation could be so incompetent.

Same really, it looks like we're botching up a good opportunity to format this club. We should never have extended the contracts of Smalling/Young/Jones but instead focused on Herrera.
