What does cook the books mean? I'm not well up on stuff like that.
Financial dishonesty.

Interesting. But why isn't it stopping Der Spiegel?
An auditor is never independent: they produce what their clients want
Why are the English media pretty quiet on this?
Other than the fact it was obvious - but now there are facts to prove it - is it because they are scared to go after City (as they took on UEFA/FIFA and clearly won)? Or is it just because they think nothing will happen so what's the point?
I don't get how not one City fan has a problem with the blood money flowing into their club through the back channels.
If this was happening at United, I might love the club too much to stop supporting it but I would be quite vocal about not wanting these owners, at the very least.

UK Media isn't reporting on it because Spiegel get their information via someone that hacks emails, so all the information is illegally obtained. It's the exact same reason no UK media reporting the Ronaldo Rape Case until he officially denied it and police reopened the case (because both of those are factual and not illegally obtained). Theres no conspiracy from the media to protect City, it's just basic common sense to not report on stuff like this at this point.
I'm surprised you ask. The average fan doesn't care about anything deeper than how their team does on the pitch.
How many times have you read "it's not my money, I don't care how much we spend" on this very forum.
All billionaires have tramped over someone to get their vast wealth, it's just some are more sinister than others.
Basically whoever supports what you tend to believe in?
So it’s a conspiracy against PSG, huh? Independent means exactly what it sounds like. And both those firms would have to show their work. It’s not like they just pulled numbers out of their bums and pointed a finger. But you keep fighting that good fight, brobeans.
I don't fight and I just express my views.
Bad faith are on both sides really: UEFA saying they want a better/fair football world and PSG saying that some sponsorship contracts are in line with the market (concept that does not have a scientific meaning because there are always some exceptions on a market btw)
Don't you think that FFP is above all a 'political measure'? In which business do you see some investors restricted in terms of invested amounts?
Honestly, I think it's too late to prevent PSG/City from doing their stuff.
Not a specialist in UK law but the leaked documents come from criminal activity (hacking). UK journalists may not be above the law when it come to protecting sources like in France or Germany. Why are the English media pretty quiet on this?

It's on BBC sport news now.Not a specialist in UK law but the leaked documents come from criminal activity (hacking). UK journalists may not be above the law when it come to protecting sources like in France or Germany.

They report on the Spiegel reports. That way they didn't have to handle the documents themselves. It's on BBC sport news now.
What are you on about? It's fairly easy to figure that one out, what's the value of the second highest bid or what's the value of the highest bid from some company that is not owned by your shady owners
Thats money laundering!Of course, we could agree that some contracts are not in line with the market standards... but the EU is supposed to promote free and totally deregulated markets... for better or for worse
That's enough for now though. They report on the Spiegel reports. That way they didn't have to handle the documents themselves.
Oh I have no doubt UEFA is still as corrupt as it has ever been and the rules of ffp were to keep the status quo rather than any altruistic reasons, but rules are the rules and and city and PSG(in this instance) are found to be in breach. While there may be some exceptions to market value, I find it very hard to believe that two different bodies found a discrepancy that large and it’s just down to market interpretations.

Paris St-Germain have filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against Uefa's reopening of its investigation into their finances.

It has got to be more than that. The way Martin Samuel has been defending City for years, i'd be surprised if he isn't being paid by them in some form. BTW I'm curious whether it's legal for sports journos to take money from clubs to write favorable articles?Because City put a nice spread on, and treat the journos well at conferences.
And also they love Pep and think his football is the best in history, so would hate to ruin that even if their whole set up is an absolute disgrace. When you hear Chelsea fans moaning about their money, you know it's messed up.
No, they cannot. It would have to be declared as a paid article. That doesn't mean underhand practices dont take place but its not remotely as widespread as people seem to believe. It has got to be more than that. The current players and manager would be fuming to be out for even a year. It's a big punishment. It's shameful aswell. Guardiola wouldn't want his name connected to a kicked out club.Everything is in place now so I'm not sure any punishment would harm them. A few years out of the CL then it's back to normal.
Rumours that one of the leaks that is coming has set the arse twitching of one or two Spanish medical practitioners...
I'll never forget being present at Wembley 2011. They ran and ran and ran some more. I have no doubts. I'd love to see justice in my lifetime.
