Official: FC Barcelona charged with Corruption over payments to former referees chief | UEFA open investigation

Mate if you accept money for a bribe then return it 17 years later, that doesn't make the bribe not a bad thing

That Laporta is an alleged, let's put alleged just in case, criminal has been known since his first period at Barcelona.
The issue here is the immense campaign putting videos of random matches and even more random plays without analysing anything, as proof of buying referees. Besides, for logical reasons, with that kind of money you can't buy referees to win leagues. And obviously you buy referees and make invoices and declare it to the public finances ...OMG. Apart from zero evidence. Collective madness and giving each other arguments to convince themselves in an echo chamber.

I'm sorry, but at best this post makes no sense, and at worst it is deliberately obfuscatory. On Monday, you raised the point that Negreira has privately claimed to have returned the money to Barcelona. The question asked of you was why would returning the money be deemed to make things okay? If this were a legitimate business transaction as claimed, there wouldn't appear to be a justifiable need to return the money. Returning the money would not exonerate either the club or Negreira. It does not indicate it to be a legitimate business transaction, and your response does nothing to justify why it may be relevant in exculpating Barcelona.

Negreira privately admits that he handed out money at FC Barcelona.

As reported by 'El Mundo', the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) has admitted to those close to him that the money he received from FC Barcelona, 7.5 million euros over 17 years, was later returned to the Catalan club.

It is not in the media's interest to publish this news, lest their story, which is unsubstantiated by any means, should suddenly fall apart.

If this is true, then that is evidence for the payments being illegitimate. If the payments were legit, then Negreira would have no reason to return them, and in fact doing so would basically be a donation. Why would Negreira donate money to Barcelona?

Can Barca just cease to exist already, they are the worst. Given a choice between them and Liverpool I'd honestly rather join the dippers.

Imagine posting an article stating your club has committed obvious acts of corruption and using it as a defense.

You should refund Barcelona for the fee they are paying you to spread shit on the internet.

Poor Pep, wherever he goes corruption seems to just appear out of nowhere. He must be sick and tired of his reputation being tarnished by all this bad luck.

This thread is basically one Barcelona fan posting endless drivel that no one gives a shit about. Your clubs a dirty corrupt entity and no matter how much shite you post in here it won’t convince anyone otherwise. Give it a rest.

Why are you moving the goalpost? You first mention that he return the money as if now everything's clear. It doesn't. Why would anyone return a perfectly legitimate payment?

Then you move to another topic. Stay on the topic. Actually now it's clearer than ever, Negreira receive money from Barca for 17 years.

And that's the smoking gun.

Only when there is bad news about Barcelona and they are laughed at...but when they are refuted or something positive is posted there are insults, bad manners and people wanting to censor those who post positive things.

Nonsense? what do you contribute with this magnificent post?

P.S. - If everything related to Barcelona bothers you so much, why do you enter?

Do you believe that what you posted about Negreira returning money (which was said in a private conversation from what I understand and not substantiated) negates the bribery case?

More broadly, do you understand how bribery works? (from a moral, ethical perspective of course, but more specifically from a legal perspective?)

Yes, we gave 100,000 euros to the police chief, who has influence in the police department, but there was no harm done here because he gave it back to us!

Its like something a 5 year old would come up with

The problem is you moving the topic to something else. Stay on the topic that you yourself bring. Barcelona pay 7,5 million over 17 years to Negreira. And you think mentioning he returns it after 17 years will help? That's so gullible. Bribe money is bribe money, doesn't matter if they return it.

They've pretty much transfer listed Araujo for €100m, they need to raise at least €204m to meet La Ligas ffp rules per the same article. I can't see anyone paying that much, realistically they probably need to sell 3 or 4 players ?

https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/39721921/barcelona-open-araujo-transfer-right-offer-sources

Going to be interesting to see if clubs just wait and lowball them near to whenever the ffp deadline is... Think Murtough was in Barcelona recently...

Barcelona does not need to sell three or four of its best players.

In the event that the salary limit is still exceeded, Barcelona will be able to sign up one euro for every two euros saved in transfers. In wages it's a lower percentage, I don't remember now if you can spend 30% of what you save on wages.

Much depends on whether Laporta can manage to sell the rest of Barça TV that has not been paid for.
If he manages to find another buyer, the club will be close to 1/1 and meet the FFP.

Players that Barcelona can cash in on.

- Todibo
Barcelona has a 20% stake in a future sale. About €10M.
- Mika Mármol
. Here Barcelona has 50% of a future sale. There is talk that Manchester City could buy him and transfer him to Girona. Atletico Madrid are also interested. €10M.
- Dest. PSV has an option to buy for 10 million euros. It was said in the press that they could exercise the option. €10M.
- Eric García. €10-15M. Very good season in Girona.
- Lenglet. 5-10M
- N. González. Barcelona has 40% of a future sale. He also has an option to buy him back for 30 million euros.
- Mika Fayé. Barcelona B player. CB. A beast. In December the club received an offer of eight million euros from a French team. I guess he will be non-transferable unless a good offer comes in.
- Chadi Riad. CB, on loan at Betis. Barcelona intend to buy him back. Would only sell him for a significant amount of money.
- Barcelona could also sell Julián Araujo right-back from Las Palmas. For Abde, Barcelona have a 50% stake in a possible deal.

Selling all these players would bring Barcelona more than 100 million euros.

And they would still have enough to sell underperforming first-team players.

So not only are Barca in need of selling their own players, they actually need other clubs to sell players. Players they have stakes in and they have to hope that those fees are high enough to get a decent fee themselves?

Oh dear.

The Barcelona head coach job is a very difficult job short term. High expectation but very limited resources.

feck me that sounds an awful position. Imagine having to hope that not only you can sell your own players, but that other clubs will sell theirs. Eeeeek.

de Jong, and either Araujo or Kounde for £70m please.

Hopefully Barcelona are fecked.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of cheats, financially cheating, bribing referees and let's not also forget those missed drug tests under the whereabouts rules when they "changed their training schedules" and failed to inform the testing bodies. Amazingly Man City were lucky to get away with a similar breach of doping rules under Ped and used the same excuse.

Barcelona is much better off financially than in recent years and it is also uncertain whether Barcelona will comply with FFP. It is early days.

And if they are not able to sell players then they will not sign this year. Certainly the important players will not be sold. Those who have that illusion or dream should put it out of their minds, because they will simply hurt themselves.
In the next years with the new stadium it will generate much more income and there will be no more financial problems.

And we are not going to talk about the players Barcelona has in the youth academy because there is a huge amount of talent.

Nothing to see here

The latest stories would possibly impact on our ability to sell Greenwood to them in a stand alone deal OR sell as part of a swap for de Jong… they need cash.

Unless it’s something like Greenwood + £30m for de Jong… that might be in both club’s interests?

30 million and Greenwood for FDJ?
He has one year left on his contract, I don't know if he has another optional.
Two seasons without playing and United don't want him, plus the personal episode he's had.
You'll be lucky if you don't have to loan him out and let him go free.

How much more profit do you expect?

Barcelona ranked 4th in terms of revenue ( 800m euro), but has 81% wage/revenue ratio. There is still lots of work to make wages under control. In comparison Real Madrid and City both have slightly higher revenue, but only 54% and 59% wage/revenue ratio.

Absolutely. Barcelona and 115 are disgraceful clubs; they should both be relegated to the 3rd or 4th tier, if you ask me.

Yes, but do they have levers?

Oh wait?! Man City has 115 of them!

  1. There’s an option to extend to 2026
  2. He has been playing. In La Liga. Maybe you don’t watch La Liga?
  3. Barcelona are the ones with money problems, United aren’t
Good luck with the allegations, we all really really really hope you don’t get a huge points deduction/fine.

Can anyone give us a summary? Preferably before Don Johan and Ragnar jump in and tell us their version of how this is a genius financial move by Barca, all part of their completely corruption free masterplan and there is nothing shady to see here.

Evidence of embezzling money to help players with the loss of their wages. A club that genuinely seems rotten to it's very core.

Thanks! Colour me not shocked at all. Barca looking to have almost as many asterisks as 115 FC.

The short version is that there's audio recordings of Rubiales (head of the Spanish federation) saying to Ceferin that Pique and Messi wanted UEFA to pay the part of their wages that corresponded to what Barsa limited due the Covid lockdowns. Basically UEFA supporting a club and specific players directly.
Rubiales and Piqué are business partners and have a lot of shit on them.
