ODI Goat Draft | RedTiger wins!

If associate nations are banned then reduce the 20 ODI minimum. The pool isn't that big as it is.

Banning the minnows is shit. I was hoping to see the return of the Bermudan Whale :(

They beat Sri Lanka & Bangladesh fairly in the group stages and Zimbabwe in the Round of 6. And Zimbabwe were a decent team then. Only NZ didnt travel there.

Bangladesh were still quite crap then. If New Zeland had traveled and presumably won Kenya would have been knocked out in the group stages. So, only Srilanka and Zimbabwe were the only good wins and even Zimbable only qualified due someone skipping their match.

Agree with this. I would prefer all of the associates + Zim + Bangladesh banned from the pool and a limit of 5-10 ODI's for the rest. No wants to argue about a bunch of players from the associates no one's ever heard of. And a lot of these associate players have played a feck load of games against fellow crappy teams so all of them would be eligible.

Nationality Rules
New Rule:

Teams may comprise a maximum of 2 Associate Nation players and a minimum of 6 total nationalities. The 20 ODI minimum remains.

Those who have already submitted a pick may submit a new one if they like, in light of this new rule.

@Akshay please add the nationality rule to the OP and change thread title to ask people to read the OP.

Assume Zim and Ban are considered full members and not associates?

Teams after Criteria 1:

Skills - 1. Ian Bell (ENG)
Akash - 1. Richmond Mutumbami (ZIM)
harshad - 1. Ben Hollioake (ENG)
Boycott - 1. Ashan Priyanjan (SL)
NM - 1. Robin Uthappa (IND)
Raees - 1. Rob Nicol (NZL)
RedTiger - 1. Mark Dekker (ZIM)
2mufc0 - 1. Saba Karim (IND)

Blocked: Farhad Reza

Anyway my pick is in. I'm picking people I hated rather than the biggest sheep, hence the Uthappa pick last time. He cost us so many games. Cnut.

over saba karim? no way. he is the equivalent of viv in a normal draft

I was initially going to pick Uthappa but his average wasn't that bad.
mid 20s is pretty shit, but I agree that other players picked were worse. I'm banking on the fact that he cost India so many games by being rather shit.

How important would the first class record of a player be? In that a player may have an excellent first class record but did not shine on the international stage. Given that he is now playing against what is a supposedly a mediocre team, would not his performance at first class level, where the opponents may not be that great, be relevant?

Wtf is Bell doing there? I know it is ODI draft but there are many many worse who can be picked before him. I know lots of England fans hate Bell but you are letting the recency cloud overall judgement. He was never quite good for ODIs but there are many you can choose before him. Just look at other names around him and he looks out of place.

Btw guys, make sure your teams are balanced in terms of number of batsmen and bowlers. We've not put rules in play so that people can draft comfortably expecting you all to be sporting. If it doesn't happen, mods will balance teams out at the end if above average players which will penalise those who intentionally draft unbalanced teams.

Give a minimum mandatory team composition, position wise, to the plebs. Something like min 5 batsmen, 1WK, Min 4 bowlers. If only 4 bowlers are picked by someone, there should be enough players among batsmen who have bowled fairly regularly in ODIs as part-timers, to cover remaining 10 overs.

Think the balanced teams bit covers that.

Incase it isn't, min of 6 recognised batsmen, a wk, 4 bowlers + recognised part timers. Recognised All rounders will be considered accordingly.
