who do you feckin think ?
A blast from the past breezed into Carrington today. One of my favorite players of the mid-noughties and Balon D'Or winner 2007. Although great in that Milan team he never quite went on to improve to GOAT status like CR7 at Real Madrid. I remember he was unplayable against us in that CL tie for Milan in 2007.

what are your thoughts ?

His name recognition was immense at his peak. Everybody was talking about "Kaka". However, it was short lived.

One of those players who looked faster with the ball than without the ball.

The most perfect assist. Taking out the entire midfield and defence with a turn and a 50 yard pass that Crespo didn't have to break stride, nor take a touch on. And it was against Liverpool.

Great player. Still think Ronaldo deserved to win Ballon d'Or in 2007 though and was a touch better even then, but I suppose winning the CL final that year pushed the scales in Kaka's favour. In hindsight, I'm glad he won so he has that recognition in the history books, because Ronaldo won a fair few later on anyway!

He was only 27 when he moved to Madrid too, a shame he couldn't sustain his peak for longer.

for me, This is the greatest assist of all time, made even better by the finish from crespo

yes I do remember being annoyed (but biased of course) at the time for Ronnie, but in the scheme of things looking back i agree with you, I'm glad he got his day as Ronnie had plenty more afterwards.

wow, that is Eriksen-esque from yesterday.

Madrid back then was the place where talent went to die. Kaka, Shevchenko and Savicevic are my favorite AC Milan players. Kaka at his prime was absolute monster.
Never forget that legendary pace with the ball where he left Messi in the dust:

I'm conversing about Kaka daily, with my 3 year old.

Didn't Redcafe successfully start a well circulated Kaka rumour/story back in the day??

Well, Kaka has always been unstoppable and inevitable mate.

his peak was really really high, Ballon D Or level.

unfortunately, due to injuries, poor transfer moves —this peak was short lived and ended within 2-3 years.

same route as Pato, Adriano, etc

He was pretty great! Not much to say besides.

His technique wasn't up there with say Ronaldinho but his turn of pace and the way he dribbled was electrifying, seemed to have the right mentality and character as well, shame how his body couldn't keep up in the latter years.

Nailed us to the the cross back in 2007 s year that could have seen a north derby at the ucl final but it's hard to hold it against such a lovely character, went and beat them afterwards aswell so I guess all is forgotten.

Think it's unfair to say Madrid killed him off. He just struggled with injuries.

Also Madrid signed Kaka and Cristiano in a go. Amazing.

His style of play was so simple yet so fecking effective. And I would never understand how he looked so graceful and fast with the ball at his feet - he never looks a fast player without the ball!

Didn't he have a massive injury before his madrid move? Or was that right after? Think his prime could have been way longer without that.

However when he was great he was really great.

Wasn't that goal in Old Trafford his best?

When I was a young lad and Kaka was just getting started at Milan (so must have been '03 or '04) there seemed to be a new long range banger from him every time I watched the highlight reels, often on the volley. Outrageous at his best.

Brazil was so poor in the 2006 WC, despite having Kaza and Ronaldinho at their peak, the end of Brazil performing in World Cups. Strange they looked so weak in attack, as I recall.

Oh sure, that's why Madrid won the champions league in 1998, 2000, 2002 and semifinalist in between.

Kaká was a crook in Madrid, like Hazard, Cassano, Sneijder, Bale, Macca, Beckham or Owen. Crooks and drunks without any shame.

Best in the world for a period at Milan. Considering his size and frame, his burst of pace and power running with the ball was immense, absolutely destroyed us at the San Siro. Bit like Schevchenko, post Milan he was pretty shit though

They weren't poor per se but underwhelmed considering the talent they had. They were eliminated by one of the best individual performances of all time (Zidane).

Absolutely adored him as a player. Fantastic, the game v us was incredible.

I first saw him play where he scored a goal v Deportivo, ball dropping from a very high height and in one movement controlled the ball on his thigh and volleyed with his opposite foot. An absolutely gorgeous goal and one that made me take note from then on. Brilliant player but wish his peak lasted longer.

He was quality. Glided on the pitch. Running through the middle and finishing was pure art. His knees were done when he signed for Madrid.
