Oasis have come out top on a new poll conducted by Q magazine and music retailer HMV to find the nation's favourite British albums.

The Manchester rockers scored both the top two places, ahead of Radiohead and the Beatles, with 'Definitely Maybe' coming top and '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' landing a close second.

Radiohead's OK Computer finished third, followed by The Beatles' 'Revolver' and the Stone Roses' self-titled debut.

Q's editor, Paul Rees, said Oasis' popularity as the people's band' had put them ahead of albums like 'Ok Computer' and 'Revolver', making them "undoubtedly the nation's most-loved band".

"In a list that features the likes of Radiohead's OK Computer and The Beatles' Revolver, this is a testament to the popularity of Oasis and their music."

Shouldn't be anywhere near a top 50 list.

fecking retards.

WTSMG should be, not sure about the rest though, Keane at #8 is just laughable.

No it fecking well shouldn't, there are hundreds of better albums than that, Def Maybe I will give you, that is a good album.

Edit: no where near number one spot though, that is just retarded.

Your entitled to your opinion RedNome, I just believe WTSMG is a fecking great album and worthy of a place in the top 50. Don't hate me more than you already do:D

I've just booked us a holiday to Paris for the weekend, we can make up then:D

Sorry busy this weekend, I guess I'll put my cock away a go back to thinking about interesting and exotic ways to cause humiliating diseases to befall you.

 What a crap list. I bet it was compiled by people who have only ever heard about 50 albums.

Not everyone likes the same music you know. People are allowed to like different albums.

And Definately Maybe is an outstanding album.

no shit sherlock...im just trying to encourage a bit of heated debate.

its a good album without doubt.....came along at a time when back to basics was needed, but the greatest british album ever?

Easily one of the top 2 or 3. Every song is a classic, and for a debut album, it just makes it that much better.

Can't wait for the new album either.

Nah, they went downhill rapidly from the first album.

ah... interrupting the old lets pretend we're gay banter.

fair enough...carry on.

Nah, they went downhill rapidly from the first album.

I wouldn't say rapidly, I have enjoyed all their albums and they are still huge. I do think though they're next album will define how they are remembered, if it is as good as DM or WTSMG, then they will be remembered as one of the greatest (if not the greatest), British band of all time, if it gets bad reviews though like DBTT, then they will be remembered for 'fading away'. Which would be a shame as they have given us some of the best songs in history. (In my opinion of course)
