Noussair Mazraoui | Welcome to United

How do you pronounce his name?
Most people call him Nous (like Noose in English) when he played in NL and in Germany. Guess the English players will make something cringy like Mazry of it. Shawy, Rashy:')

Aside from De Ligt looking a true leader in that drill, Mazraoui looked untouchable in those clips. His interplay and close control is light years ahead of AWB.

Not only a leader but his reactions and quick press (in the sense of speed) were fantastic.

Obviously if that’s in the penalty box the oppo will go down and screen for a penalty - but he pressed very quickly and is a physically imposing figure!

Bring it on tonight!

I have full confidence this lad will be amazing. Apparently he has already seen the future so his anticipation skills will be off the charts.

Fotmob is showing he already played a game for Morocco in 2026.

He was the real MOTM for me, fit in like he's been playing with us for years.

Was a threat moving forward and was linking wlel with Amad, the right side might not be a black hole this seaspn for a change. All that said, he was still tidy at the back as well and was consistently in great defensive positions.

If Dalot isn't careful, he'll be our backup come holiday time

Shows how much football has changed in that you have a full back only having to make 2 tackles in the whole match..

One of the best all round United debuts I can remember in years. Really impressed.

Hope he can stay fit and we can get another LB in so he can rotate with Dalot rather than playing the latter out of position.

Looked a proper footballer last night, really calm under pressure. I wasn’t sure about this signing as I’d got the impression he’d gone backwards at Bayern, but he’s obviously very technical and takes our level up. Him, Dalot and Shaw are all capable of joining the midfield. Happy with the summer signings this year.

Yup. I was actually stunned how quickly he integrated with the team. Very impressive.

We never doubt his abilities but the main concern is injury records. Hope he can stay fit especially for critical games in the season.

I was very impressed, I don't think I have seen him play before.

Many on here talked about his forward skills, so I was very pleased to see his defensive play. He had great anticipation.

Early days, but he looks like just what we need.

Added bonus it will put pressure on Dalot and even Shaw to perform. Need that type of competition in the squad.

Really good debut. It's only one game but he looked like he belonged there. Going to be real interesting to see how Antony plays up from him.

Very good debut but we shouldn't be aiming to piss him off by telling him that Antony may be playing in front of him.

Good call. Antony surely can't be as bad as last season. Hopefully, it can only be better with Mazouri behind him. He might actually give instructions and be vocal with him. Don't think AWB was very vocal at all, not from what I've seen. I'll never forget Gary Neville the few times I watched at OT with a young Ronaldo in front of him, shouting and telling him where to run and what pass to play. Although, Antony is no Cristiano!

Antony is not Premier League standard... it is as simple as that.

From what we've seen, I do agree he's not top PL club standard. I think he's struggled to adapt in a very frustrating season. I'm hoping he has more potential than what we have seen. His contract is until 2027 and I highly doubt he's going to be sold by next summer so I'm assuming he's here to stay for a bit, at least.

I do think he'll be better if he and Mazraouri are both on the pitch together. Aside from that, I think the whole team is going to be better this year. And maybe Mazraouri can help Antony with his performances. I would assume there was some thought process behind signing Mazraouri that it would improve Antony's performances. Time will tell!

It’s not quite that simple. Sure: A is not an £85m player. A is not a PL winner starter level RW. Last years A was not a PL bottom half starter even.

But the year before that, A was a regular starter in the 3rd place PL team. The year before that, £A was at least a £40m player for Ajax.

So if last season’s A was temporary (personal issues, form, confidence), and we disregard the £85m panic offer of Joel Glazer on leaving Ajax, the question is rather:

Is near future A good enough to be a back up for a PL top 4 club? I’d say reasonably yes. Is near future A worth more than what he’ll fetch in the current market if sold? Probably yes. Is near future A then a problem or a resource for Man Utd at this point in time? I’d say probably the latter.

well then lets give this A the spot taken by Antony. he seems a definite upgrade!

Unsurprising debut. Mazraoui is class on the ball. Always has been. So to see fellow Caffers lose their minds seeing him manipulate possession has been amusing. He’s a smart full back. A fantastic backup to Dalot. Dalot is my gold standard. Tremendous player. Nous is a GREAT backup.

if Maz keep this up and healthy, he seriously can challenge Dalot for the starting RB and that can only mean good things for us

Good debut. Looked the best on the ball from the starting XI.

The big 'if' with him is if we can stay fit enough to contribute to the season.

We need full backs and I think he will get loads of game time this season.

Goes under the radar so much our Nous, doesn't he?

He can also play both sides if I recall correctly
