Northern Ireland Milk Cup 2009

Just a bit too casual there from Johnstone...

Had a decent game, coping with anything he had to do. But that was a shocker

Stunning Goal from Keane too.

The other team are right thugs at times in the tackle.

Overall a competent display.

It was our first full match at this level all season so we were bound to be a little rusty. I like the look of Hussain and Tunnicliffe in midfield and our forwards look as if we score plenty.

I think we over-elaborated on occasions rather than just having a go. When we did (Brady and Keane) we scored.

The pitch looked really bumpy and against a very physical team it was a good run out.

Hopefully the King injury won't be too bad but Morrison will be suspended for tomorrow.

Sean McGinty didn't have to do much but once again Tom Thorpe looked very assured.

Good summary - against better teams we'll need to get the balance on the right side of the team sorted out as Keane was overexposed. There seems to be some good depth in the squad though as all the subs looked very composed.

I really like Thorpe, his distribution is excellent and he reads the game very well also. A very good prospect.

I know at Carrington they practice quite a lot with ten v eleven so they can cope with an injury or sending off.

So when Morrison was sent off I thought we would handle it ok.

Good team performance overall. I like Hussain quite a lot.

Hussain was great and it looked like the coaches were very happy with his performance.

Thought he gave the ball away a little too often, but it's good that he's trying things and you'd expect that to get better as the team gels a bit.

Northern Ireland beat Germany 3-2 by the way, Devlin, Norwood and Evans all in the team.

Will probably be up tomorrow at some point. They did a daily roundup show last year, assume it'll be the same this year.

Morrison is extremly talented, but I think he needs to change his lifestyle (He's very 'gangsta' like and hangs around with the wrong people).

He is extremely talented with the ball but he tends to overdo it. I liked Fryers at left back - he was much more mobile and attacking than I expected him to be.

As for Hussain and Tunnicliffe - I thought they were average before halftime. Tunnicliffe was anonymous and Hussains was so-so - but they improved a lot after the break

It's not on live anywhere unfortunately. Doesn't appear to have been any highlights emerge from yesterday yet either, which makes me wonder if we'll get any of tonight's game.

Yesterdays highlights are available now but they only show Uniteds 3rd goal.

Ah. Suppose that's understandable with us being shown live, still annoying though.

Play Desportivo in quarters ,tomorrow at 7 in Limavady. The venue would make me think it wont be televised though that is IMHO

Yeah, only the Ballymena games are televised.

Tough game by the looks of it, going to be a nervy wait.

Only us, Fenerbahce, Desportivo Brasil and South Coast Bayern picking up 2 wins from 2.

County Down have a win and a draw, they're through too. 4/5 teams with three points who'll need to be separated on goal difference.

It seems Red Issue were wrong:

Premier Report:Tuesday 27th July

Manchester United last night roared into the quarter-final stages with a resounding
4-0 success over Peruvian outfit Club Cantolao.

The young Red Devils now face Desportivo Brasil in the last eight and will go in to
that game tonight with plenty of confidence having found the back of the net seven
times in first two days.

Dubliner Robert Brady was again the start of the show for United as the young
striker took his week's tally to four goals, bagging a brace - scoring United's
first and last goals.

Inbetween Michael Ngoo and Etzaz Hussain pushed United further ahead.

However man of the match was Cantolao goalkeeper Patricio Musso Savage, who saved
his side from a much heavier loss.

United boss Paul McGuiness said: "It was a comfortable success for us. We played
some very clever football, but we were given the room to do just that.

"I must also praise their goalkeeper, he gave a top class performance."

Desportivo should be a far greater challenge in the quarters (and hopefully it will be televised) - bit of an unlucky draw to be playing them so early.

Edit: It doesn't look like we'll be televised either, they are showing the 6pm match at the Ballymena Showgrounds which appears to be Southern Coast Bayern vs FC Porto.

So clearly all the subs were made once we had scored our third.

Just looking at the goals now on the red button. Brady's 1st was a freekick, great strike although the keeper could maybe have done better. They didn't show Tunnicliffe's goal for some reason, despite showing lots of missed chances/great saves in the first half, very odd (they seemed to genuinely miss it because they described Keane's goal as '2-0').

Keane's goal was sublime, just a fantastic one-touch passing move from our own half - Hussain to Brady to Fryers to Ngoo to Fryers to Ngoo to Fryers to Brady to Hussain, who set up Keane with an open goal, wonderful football.

Brady's second was nice too, one-two with Cole on the edge of the box and a right-footed angled finish back across the keeper.

Their keeper seemed to play a blinder, especially first-half when he made some great saves.
