Nordic Ghost Yeti (Scandi Carroll) | Haaland at City

Except that football is a team sport. He did nothing in any of the big games 115 charges played which means it was more of a team effort (aided by financial doping).
Maybe teams have worked him out !

I wish our striker is a flat track bully + tap in merchant
That wouldn't really help up that much. We had no issues against teams in the bottom half of the table, it was away games against the top 9 where we rely struggled. A Kane type striker helps us bridge the gap far more than a Haaland or Osimhem type in my view as we need someone who is elite at both scoring goals and bringing others into play.

He was really average in both finals which dents his chances despite winning the treble.

He's done very little in either of the finals or the Champions League semi-finals against Real Madrid. Very invisible. I don't think City or Haaland will care though.

As previously said, he seems incredibly average in a lot of the big games and was very quiet last night albeit due to Inters effective marking. I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t in the starting eleven next season.

I agree with this. Best thing for his development would be to play under Arne Slot for 1 season next year. The true bald genius of football. Let's see how Erling handles the pressure lf playing for a packed Kuip.

English Premier League
FA Cup
UEFA Champions League
English Premier League player of the season
Englidh Premier League top goalscorer
European Golden boot

Will it be enough to win Ballon d'Or over Leo Messi? To me YES.. He really couldn't achieve more than that given he plays for Norway..
Absolutely not - Messi led his country to a world cup which sealed his status as the greatest player in the history of the game - nobody comes close to him for Ballon d'Or this year.

The above big game performances is part of why I said Mbappe was a better player than Haaland a while back and you wouldn't believe the angry responses from people who are supposed to be United fans. Mbappe, at age 24, has more goals in the World Cup final than any player in history. Meanwhile the biggest goal Haaland has ever scored is in the QF of the Champions League.

Mbappe is a better player, but does it matter when he plays in a league nobody watches?

He has international football, but thats a tournament every other year.

Doesn't matter how many goals he scores against Bournemouth and Norwich if he doesn't offer anything in the big matches where it's not put on a plate for him.

Say he's better than Mbappe when he scores a hat trick in a final against a world class team.

It's not even close between the two honestly.

Mbappe is flat out a superior player. This 'debate' is like the Messi-Ronaldo debate. Too forced by valuing only goals + team accomplishments when it's obvious who the better player is.

Fully agree mate.

Closer to Henry vs Ruud. Ronaldo had far more to his game than Haaland until he became obsessed with goalscoring records.

Haaland just doesn't have that extra something that the really great players have. He doesn't do things that get fans on the edge of their seat and is unlikely to come up with something out of nothing in the biggest games.

Unfortunately for him he's probably going to drop off massively in his late 20s early 30s as well. He relies massively on his physical attributes and doesn't have the technique of someone like Ibrahimovic to compensate for his inevitable physical decline.

I´d still say that Ronaldo had far more to his game when he became obsessed with goalscoring. It wasnt until he became "old" Ronaldo that is his game was more like Haaland atm. He still scored free kicks and was better at beating a man. Monster header as well.

He won't be because Messi will win it and he deserves it. People keep trying to clown Messi and Mbappe for 'only doing it against Clermont' or whoever but when the bell rang in the biggest game in football (by about 1 billion viewers) they answered it. Haaland at the business end of the season said 'hey presto" and vanished

He struggled last night. Apparently had the fewest touches of any outfield player.

Yes indeed, but he's been poor for a while as other guys (Silva, Gundogan, KDB, Rodri) etc. have stepped up with clutch goals in the CL, the FA Cup and the most important games in the league. Again, he's still a phenomenal player and he's had a fantastic season. But he has a long way to go to actually match the breathless plaudits that he was receiving in this very thread a couple of months ago. People were saying he was comparable to R9, comparable to Messi, better than Mbappe, the greatest goalscorer of all time, we've never seen anything like him, better GPG and MPG than anyone in history etc. etc.

Hopefully people can see now that they were getting a bit carried away.

At some point, I believe his non penalty goals per 90 were rivalling Messi for the greatest of this generation but that must have dropped dramatically over the last month. He went through a cold spell.

He's only 22 in his first season there. Watch him step his game in the coming years. He'll never be as good a footballer as Messi or Ronaldo, but as a goalscorer he's just getting started.

Only managed to score a penalty against a team filled with methadone addicts and car thieves.

Got booed by his own fans too.

City winning the treble probably speeds up Haaland’s departure from City. I’ll be shocked if he’s still there in 2 years time. He’s achieved all the trophies and premier league individual record. There’s not really much else to play for.

As much as the city superstars will never admit it, they are probably underwhelmed at how small the club is. Just look at the parade for their greatest ever achievement in history.

He had an amazing season but as a whole City score the same amount of goals with him as they do without.

99 goals in the Prem 21-22 season
94 goals in the Prem 22/23 season

So its hard to really judge him, could he match Kane's numbers in a Spurs team...probably.

But finishing his first season in England with a Treble...no way to argue with that!

Meh, he's only the fourth Norwegian to win a treble for a Manchester club and only the second Scandinavian player to win one in his first season. He's not fit to lace Jesper Blomqvist's boots.
