Nolan's Batman

Hm, if they do this, then it would seem they either have to out BW as Batman and make that part of the story, or else they need a decoy Batman to pop up and do Batman-ey things once in a while so BW can keep his identity secret.
if Bane is in the league o shadows then he might now already who batman is such as Ras did and the other member who attacked him. I think what someone said is right and he fe led up Wayne a few hers prior but not the extend of a broken back. He will be healed enough for the timeline of this movie. Interesting to see them go into the batcave. I they are doing a tone of the credit crunch then Gotham could be at it's weakest and this is the leagues time to strike. In begins Ras said they tried using economics before to destroy Gotham but now it seems Banes brute force will be the next move.

From what I've "heard" (and I'm not quite sure this is true) but apparently Bane knows who BW/Batman is and confronts him very early on. I think the scene from the trailer with the line "When Gotham has been burned to ashes, you have my permission to die." is from their first altercation and Bane leaves BW broken - probably not to the level of a broken back - but damaged enought so he can't stop Bane from destroying Gotham & forcing BW to watch that. This would fit in with the majority of the film being set 8 years after TDK, BW would leave and need to recover from his injuries before he could return to take on Bane. It would also work with the other apparent rumblings that BW only dons the Batman suit for around (sorry to say) 1/3 of the film... mostly towards the end and there won't need to be a Batman or someone doing Batman things as the people of Gotham turned their back on him after the death of Dent, blaming him for it. IMO this is how the flow of the story seems to be going, whether I'm right God only knows... and I have no idea what part Selina will play. Is it true she's at the end of the prologue in orange overalls?

Oh and Stephen, that isn't the Batcave that those people on zipwires are infiltrating, it's the underground building which you see BW in earlier on in the trailer.

But will he succeed without a mesmerizing villain or some "mind fecks" and stuff like playing a movie backwards, genius ideas to treat his audience like idiots and distract them from what really is average action flicks.

But he writes the 'mesmerizing villains' and 'the mind fecks' - so shouldn't he get the credit for it? Most of his movies have plot twists, that has been his USP. Inception had a fair bit of exposition (which may not have been entirely necessary) but even with it many people didn't understand the movie on first viewing - so how exactly is he treating his audience as 'idiots'.

Which other movies in recent times would you describe as being great action flicks where the success of the film can be credited to the director?

...In begins Ras said they tried using economics before to destroy Gotham but now it seems Banes brute force will be the next move.

That's my theory but I come up with a new one every bloody day. Release it now god damn you.

Next next move: all the 'peacetime' stuff seems to imply that they first 'pull a Batman' to get rid of Batman. That is, after Wayne gets broken, they take over crime in Gotham and 'get rid' of it until the people start to forget they ever needed Batman (or people like Gordon). When Bruce Wayne still tries to play hero using his money, they also take over his company (Catwoman probably has a lot to do with this.)

Then comes the brute force.

It's hero's journey 101 stuff. In the latter half of the third act (in this case, third film), the hero is often stripped of/not allowed to use the bulk of the weapons/magic/allies which he acquired in the course of becoming the hero. This allows the audience to see his essence once again; AKA we get reminded he's a hero even without the magic feather/super strength/Obi-Wan Kenobi/etc.

...and there won't need to be a Batman or someone doing Batman things as the people of Gotham turned their back on him after the death of Dent, blaming him for it. IMO this is how the flow of the story seems to be going, whether I'm right God only knows... and I have no idea what part Selina will play. Heh. That would be "the other thing".

Pretty sure she's going to be a good guy. Gets hired by the LoS (she doesn't know who they are) Steals from the rich. Hates "rich" Bruce Wayne. Steals from him, too. Except she does such a good job that she finds out he was Batman, and gets conflicted. Confronts him about it, a-la: "You were only a good guy because you could afford to be. Care to put your money where your mask is?" They sort-of team up. The usual. It's a good dynamic. Plenty of stuff to milk out of that.

The thing I'm kind of interested in is them seeming to separate, or peel away, the Bruce Wayne and Batman and Rich Man layers of the character. You really only do that when you're going to let him choose none of them and become something else.

I saw the prologue in the cinema and unfortunately, I struggled to make out what Bane was saying at certain points. A combination of the muffled voice and the seemingly eastern european accent.
I read some complaints about this issue, but I assumed it was due to poor quality recordings on the internet. I hope this is tweaked before the official release!

Nolan has said his voice won't be changed, but the audio will be cleared up and tweaked so he'll be easier to understand.

Or not release the film at all, that would be the best.

If only.

I have it on hearsay that after the second one passed $400m in North America, people in the WB offices started printing fake $1000 bills with the bat-symbol and putting them up in their cubicles.

Why does it matter to you? If you don't like his films leave them to those who do. It seems that people can't have differing taste in films, those who consider themselves highbrow have to constantly condescend those who like something different.

Yep. Just wondered as I've seen that said on a few other (mainly American) sites. I don't have a problem with it personally.

I thought it was a bit shit when I first heard it but it I really like it now.

I didn't have a problem with the accent per se, I just believe it exacerbates the problem when coupled with the muffled vocals. I have no wish to spend the majority of the film straining to hear one of the lead characters. As mentioned earlier in the thread, there are rumours that the audio will be tweaked so hopefully it won't be an issue on the final product.

tbh, it'd make no sense for his voice to be clear considering he's got a mask on that's pumping him with roids all the time, could you speak clearly with that? Nolans already said were stupid for complaining, the cnut, on his high horse.

Yes, true. I can totally understand why he'd go for such an intricate level of detail to preserve realism in a film about a crime fighting billionaire that dresses as a bat. Make the voice muffled by all means, but not to the point where people can't hear his lines!

fecking shitc**ts, enjoying their success like that.

I hope they all run out of staples.

Well said.

I did enjoy them to some degree, just find it annoying when people elevate him or his films to something which they're quite are clearly not.

I didn't understand him in the trailer either but I imagine it'll be fine during the film once you tune in to it if you know what I mean.

Ooooh, I did like that.

Bane is now too clear though IMO, he sounds like there is a microphone in the mask, which is ridiculous. Better than being completely inaudible I guess. Also, the fact that the trailer itself mentions it being "a conclusion" makes me think we may see the end of the Batman, which I really hope they do. Can't be having someone ruining the Nolan Batman legacy.

No sound at work so not watched the trailer, does it follow the recent trend of showing far too much of the plot?

He sounds seriously stupid. I can't believe that will be how he finally sounds.

Ridiculous isn't even the word.

Meh, nothing that we couldn't guess other than it looks like Batman & Catwoman will be fighting side by side.

I think Hathaway is shit personally. She's got zero screen presence.

A bit yeah. Though nothing I assume that won't be covered in the first half hour or so of the film or that many haven't already concluded. It's mainly lots of miscellaneous action.

I like it a lot by the way. Not bothered by Bane's voice but i think Catwoman looks a bit silly.

I like it, Bane's clearer voice is better as I won't have to concentrate as much trying to work out what he's saying. The soundtrack

It will be the first film I watch in IMAX, should be excellent.

I've watched too many of these trailors now, I've worked out half the plot! Also, Bane's voice just sounds weird now. He was fine before.

I'm certainly getting trailer fatigue in general. There's too many trailers for everything. I actually think this is a better trailer than the last one, but the last one was released before Christmas, and before they'd even finished shooting, and it's only purpose seemed to be to generate some pre-hype hype, before the hype pre-film. And considering this contains quite a bit of footage from that, I can see why it could underwhelm some. The new prometheus trailer has had much the same effect on me. I've gone from thinning "wow I cant wait for this" to, "by the time I see any of this footage in the actual film, it'll be the 20th time I've seen it"...

I like that Hardy randomly drops into his natural British accent for a bit in his second line in the trailer.

Big blockbusters getting endless trailers isn't anything new either tbf, I mean obviously theres the added Youtube/Twitter thing now, but still, stuff like the Matrix sequels had about 30 entries on Apple Trailers -_-

The viral stuff however....though that mostly doesn't give much away.

Oh it seems even more obvious that they are hinting to him scarifying himself for Gotham in this trailer....so basically you know he's not gonna kill him off -_-

A few bits of that were already seen on other trailers and the prologue, which I kind of regret seeing.

Massively looking forward to the film, which probably means I'll be disappointed.

Oh and Bane's voice does sound a bit daft now, it's too clear, whoever said it's like he has a mic in his mask is right.
