Nirvana

So what bands do you like then

I was born in 1980 and grew up in North Manchester, by the age of fifteen I was well into Oasis, Roses, typical Manc bollcoks but am now 28 and like a good tune when a good tune pops up, I'm not in yth habit of saying 'oh Oasis brought out new tune, must be mint, I ,ike whatever mate, but detest that Nirvana wank coz i created a million miserable cnuts around the world...

What the hell, I like Nirvana for the rock side (which is actualy how I see them - a rock band) I actualy have a very odd music taste for my age, I seem to love the classics and classic rock and I like it because it makes me unique in my age group so shut the feck up about this you only like them cause your trying to fit in bollocks.

And no, I do not dye my hair black.

Ok mate, like Avrial Lavigne is such a punk - she got asked her fave punk song by the Sex Pistols and asked who they were! You little Test Tube Baby, enjoy your time mate..

Right...well you've lost me here.

Edit: and who the hell mentioned Avril Lavigne?

Nirvana are from the College Rock / Grunge era of 80's America the music that they were influenced by and bands from there area was to promote a sense of community and to show there fans that there was a future not 'gloomy' or 'suicidal' music as you put it.

Generation X is the generation that got fed up of life in America and decided to form bands in a bid to become succesful and entertain other kids from deprived areas of America.

I think he might be a bit pissed and going off on one. Forget about it.

This is possible.

Another thing I love about Nirvana is that they (especialy Kurt) were fantastic live, in all the live vids i've seen on youtube they sound just like the recordings. Amazing.

Johnno are you drunk or summit??

Pretty gutted no one took my Gerard Way bait

 nice on Johnno

Nirvana were ok, nothing more. Their fans are generally a bunch of cnuts, though.

In the early 90's so much great music came out of Seattle, from mother love bone, AIC, soundgarden, to Nirvana and Pearl jam.
I really like some of their stuff, but i never really understood what was the big deal with Cobain.
In 92 i saw Pearl Jam live, and was blown away by Vedder's performance.
But credit were credit is due, Nirvana made some great tunes. and it gave us Dave Grohl and the Foo fighters.
One thing i never understood, die hard nirvana fans always seem to have such a problem giving credit to any other seattle bands of the time.
And whats with courtney love lol.

Regardless of Johnno's bullshit, I felt I couldn't let these go RedDevil

What? you're such a stereo-typical bastard. i suppose you also believe only emo's listen to MCR and the like eh? Go get a life.

Of course only emos listen to them, they're an emo band.

While there is feck all wrong with classic rock, some of my favourite stuff as well, it is not that unique for young people these days. Look at some of the rock headliners chosen for festivals this year and the popular rumours for next year and you can see that pretty clearly.

I quite like them and I am not an emo.

I meant in my sort of social group.

This thread is promoting emoness and destroying society, I hope your all very...very happy.

Anyone who refers to Nirvana as an emo band...

Music has obviously passed you by, and you probably enjoy Scoutibg for girls.

Everyones abit emo lol, anyway Nirvana we're one of the catalysts for the whole emo movement right now. I actually like Nirvana this won't stop me calling everyone else an emo. Emo.

Fantastic music, fantastic band.

End off.

By the way, this whole "they're only revered because of death" arguement is total shite. Music is either good or not, what the feck has someones death got to do with it? It's a plain lazy arguement to try and back up ones dislike for said band, artist, actor whatever it is being thrown at at the time.

No....you realy are a stereo-typical prick arn't you.

What am I stereo-typical of? So that must obviously mean you do wear your mam's eyeliner....
Sad, very sad. It's only a phase, you'll grow out of it, or have it beaten out of you perhaps...

You seem to think only "sad grungey twats" listen to Nirvana and the like. This makes you stereo typical just as people who think only emo's listen to MCR are.

No, if you actualy read what I write I put "No" first.

What's the last thing Kurt Cobain said to Courtney Love?
"Hole's gonna be big"......

Wash your hair you scruff...

Seconded.

Well done for proving my point asshole.

Get off the internet before I report you, no doubt you're looking up sites to build pipe-bombs for another Columbine.
I heard the actual reason Nirvana split up was because Kurt Cobain was always shooting his mouth off....

Mr Devil, you are being WUMed by an Aussie, not cool at all.

80% hype and iconicism 20% talent.

kurt was a very good songwriter (lyrically) and dave could play drums pretty well. There were much better bands out there at the time and kurt knew it, hence his massive complex.
