Gaming Nintendo Switch

Any idea on when the Zelda game might be out?
Looks like March.

Yeah hopefully there will be a good few deals bouncing around in January/February time.

The WiiU is the only Nintendo console I haven't owned within the first six months of it's release and it's making me feel dirty and disloyal
So you should, you terrible traitor.

At least now you've waited there's a good selection of games to pick from rather than waiting while they came out.

Hoping for another Donkey Kong Country game. The DKC series should be one of Nintendo's main priorities along with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc, in my opinion. It annoyed me that after DK64, Nintendo just completely overlooked the series until Returns in 2010.

I really really really want to play through that wind waker remaster again. I haven't played it since it was released on GameCube. One of the finest games of all time IMO.

Wasn't it something to do with Rare becoming part of Microsoft or something?

I'd love to see a new metroid game personally. The prime series were great, but nothing beats the side scrolling super metroid experience. What a game that was!

I was hoping the Wii U would come down in price by now. I've still got an itch that needs scratching with Nintendo.

Yeah, that sounds plausible. Though, during the drought between DK64 & Returns when Nintendo was coming out with these Donkey Kong Jungle Beat(?) games with the bongo drums and mini-games with Mario on the DS, it just left a bad taste in my mouth because all I wanted was another DK platformer/adventure game. I'm just scared that Nintendo are going to put the DK series on the shelf for another extended period of time whilst favouring the same old, same old (despite loving those series, too).

@Yagami you know about Tropical Freeze on the Wii U, right?

I got Wind Waker HD a few monthgs ago but haven't played it yet, looking forward to it though!

You're damn right

Aye, and I know that only came out in 2014, but if I don't hear any news about Nintendo developing another DK game after a couple of years or so my paranoia sets in and I start wondering whether they've put the series back on the shelf again. I know I shouldn't, but the drought after DK64 has left me with scars I tell you!

It's funny seeing you say this with the amount of people that were disappointed when they announced Tropical Freeze, saying "Not another Donkey Kong!". Not that I was one of those, though.

I'm sure there will be another one within a couple of years, they don't tend to announce games too far in advance these days :)

Worth saying Tropical Freeze was excellent as well, a really good game.

Wii U I was disappointed with; though I sold it before Mario Kart arrived. I would have loved it, I'm sure.

But the real winner is the 3DS. What an amazingly great handheld that is. Too bad Nintendo's online systems are stuck in the 1980s, and there is no way to link your digital purchases to an account. I will not buy another Nintendo hardware product until they do that. It's inexcusable in 2016 to not have such features when selling from an online store.

With them redoing the whole MyNintendo thing, I think they'll do that. Personally it doesn't affect/bother me since I don't buy digital, but I know it's a big thing for lots of people.

Yeah, but 99% of the time I look at something on Amazon my immediate thought is, "I could buy it... or I could get a SNES game instead"

I will deffo get it though.
Do a new guss the game music thread olly

And make it easier this time:mad:

 Where do you get them? Ebay? I was thinking of starting a collection myself of titles.

Occasionally eBay if there's a great deal, but 9/10+ times I use Amazon. I make sure I buy from Amazon so I can use vouchers I've saved up and not pay any actual money to justify buying as much as I do

Shit, I never realised! I think I'd like them boxed/mint!

I only buy boxed games, and if I was buying games with actual money then I've be more picky with condition and what not and would buy from eBay over Amazon most of the time. I still like them as good as possible though obviously. Though you gotta be careful with games that in great condition these days with the amount of fakes around!

The best is when you buy a game without knowing what condition it's gonna be in and when it arrives it's mint

The fiends! They need to be handcuffed to a radiator and be forced to watch the Donkey Kong Country cartoon for 24 hours straight. Then, when they think it's all over, put the DK Rap on repeat for another 24 hours or until they can recite the whole rap verse for verse. Whichever comes first. That'll teach them to blaspheme about Lord DK.

One can hope!

I always find the DKC series to be fun. Even when they do questionable (to me) things like Kiddy Kong in DKC3 instead of Donkey, and the whole no animal buddies, water levels and Kremlings in Returns, I still find them incredibly fun to play.

Will this be a competition for the ps4 and xbox? The games don't seem to be that high quality from the 3 odd minutes of the video. Never owned a console but planning to get one next year.

Depends what you're into as to whether this'll be for you or not. It won't be as powerful as the PS4/Xbone and in the past few years Nintendo has catered to a slightly different market than the other two have but it looks like this will be getting support from third party developers whereas the WiiU was lacking a bit in that regard.

If Achievements/Trophies are your thing, PS4 and Xbone offer them but Nintendo hasn't in the past. That might change with this console, we'll see what they say over the next few months.

What the Switch offers that the other two don't is a seamless blend of home and handheld gaming so you can play on TV one minute, then on the toilet or outside the next without lugging a laptop/controller around or whatever.

I think your best bet will be to wait until E3, see what the big three have to offer then make your decision

Cool, thanks a lot for the detailed info. Will wait for the E3.

I wouldn't get a Nintendo console as your main console unless you own a PC.

The Wii U has great games. But if it was my only console, I would be depressed.

You better off buying a PS4 or Xbox. The exclusives on those systems aren't as good. But the third party support makes up for it. It's highly unlikely games like Mass effect Andromeda, Red Dead 2 and Destiny 2 will come out on the Switch.

I'm guessing a few publishers will release a few older titles for the switch. But will wait and see how sales are before commuting further. Plus the other two have a better online infrastructure.

 Sounds like a good plan to me!

UK specialist gaming retail chain GAME has been informed of the Nintendo Switch’s wholesale price to retailers, and is planning on selling their basic SKU of the system in stores for £199.99.

It is important to note this is not a Nintendo set RRP, as in the UK manufacturers are not allowed to set RRP prices for consoles. However, it is safe to assume this gives us a solid indication of the price the system will sell at nationwide.

We have also learned that a separate SKU featuring more internal storage and a packed in game is planned to sell at £249.99. We have heard rumours as to what this pack in game is, but we currently have only one source on this information so we are unwilling to talk about that pack in title at this time.

Both our sources have told us that additional Switch Pro Controllers are expected to sell at launch for £39.99 at GAME.

Good price! If true, of course. Reckon I'll go for the £249 one.
