BOOOOO!!! WE WANT GAMECUBE GAMES ON THE EXPANSION PACK *holds up picket sign*.

All jokes aside, they must be saving GC games for the newer console coming out in 2025. That’s the only reason I can think of for them ignoring our demands and instead wheeling out crap like this that no one gives a feck about.

Are Nintendo allergic to money because why the feck did they not bring any of the old Pokémon games to switch? Heartgold and soulsilver would have printed money

They have some of the side games tbf but I agree that they’re doing themselves a huge disservice by not bringing main games such as HeartGold and Soulsilver. I’d even go as far as saying if titles such as HGSS and Emerald came to the switch people who don’t already have the expansion pack will subscribe to it JUST for that.

Absolutely! Firered, emerald, heartgold I think would be subscription sellers for a lot of people

Never mind getting Game Cube games, the fact they have so few of the other retro platform games on there after 7 years is ridiculous. Maybe every three months it'll announce there's something new to play, then it'll be a Japanese game nobody has ever heard of or three different regional releases of the same game nobody cares about.

Yeah agreed. Where is WWF No Mercy! What a game that was.

I just bought the Resi 1 Remake for £7.99

Anyone played it on the Switch?

Tried to play Turok 2 and Shadowman which just released on the online on switch. Feck….how did I play these when I was young? I literally cannot move in straight line

Not on switch but I’m sure it will run fine on it. It’s a fantastic remake. Played it on GameCube years ago and more recently on PlayStation

Nice one, thank you.

I've only ever played Biohazard believe it or not!

You should absolutely play loads of them.

Not sure if you have a PlayStation or Xbox but the remakes for part 2, 3 and 4 as well a part 8 (Village) are all terrific. I don’t think any of them are on switch though

I have a PS5 so there's plenty to be getting through.

One gripe I'm having already, is there a way to sort the movement out? It seems really faffy. Like I hold left and he turns right?

Are your controls inverted? Admittedly I’ve not played it for a good while but I remember controls being pretty tight

Hmm I can't see an option to change it. Will just have to get used to it. It's weird how they move about the map.

Seems Mario & Luigi Brothership is a disappointment. Got 5/10 from IGN and while others have rated it at 80+, listening to the review it made a few good points (and we all know reviews are inflated these days anyway). I will hold off buying until I can get it slightly cheaper, I still haven't started Echoes of Wisdom. Been playing Luigi's Mansion 3 recently, what a brilliant little game.

Going to Japan/Korea in two weeks and dithering whether to bring Switch or 3DS with me. I'm one bagging with a 30L backpack so 3DS would probably make more sense to keep the weight down.

Trying my luck here. Seems that left joy con’s stick of my Switch is ‘stuck’ on down, physically it’s in the right position and can be rotated normally but the console seems to read its direction as down permanently. I have tried different set of joy con’s and they seem fine so it’s about that particular controller. I have tried resetting console, resyncing this set of con, to no avail. Has anyone experienced this and/or knows the fix?

Stick drift? Yeah, everyone who's ever owned a Switch for more than 6 months has experienced this. It's simply bad design and the only permanent fix is to buy another controller.

I have had Switch (two different ones) since launch and it’s the first time I have experienced this… strange. This one (OLED) I have had since launch as well. Also, I thought drift was about a slight tilt not being permanently stuck. But maybe I just have a very bad case of it.

Just stick drift yeah, caused by the worst designed controller on the market. Happened to mine before I could finish the first game I bought. The only way I play switch is with the pro controller and on a TV.

I mean how long can Nintendo use this "game play /fun over graphics" strategy? I get it, Mario and Zelda sell this console. But after so many iterations of each and years, i think this won't be the case anymore. Nintendo's next console is gonna have to have top notch graphics or it will die.

It won’t.

Plenty of people don't care about the graphics past a certain point. Like how games are often designed to emulate 8 or 16 bit console games because stylistically they still look cool. Nintendo just relies on style rather than power when it comes to graphics, and if they still make games people want to play, that's enough.

Weird time to say this when they’ve just had their most successful console ever (with incredible library).

Zelda/Mario and other Nintendo games are incredibly creative and fun, they’ve built massive brand around it and the best they can do with their next Switch (which is probably no more than 6 months away) is just give it a technical upgrade. They don’t need it to match PS5 though, just be competent enough.

Super state of the art realistic graphics are killing triple A gaming if you ask me. Games like God of War play like an interactive movie with all the gameplay depth of a... well something with little depth. Devil May Cry 3 is how you make an action game.

I Hugely prefer video gamey games with Switch Graphics and Nintendo seem most interested in those.

Though Astrobot is a great example that the actual videogame still exists.

I’m probably lucky to have avoided it until now then. My OLED must have seen more than 1,000 hours of gameplay before it happened. Fortunately I had a second pair so can carry on playing, will probably just buy cheap third party replacement for the one that went bad so I can still play with friends. No point spending more when the new Switch is round the corner.

Agreed on Pro controller, it’s the only way I play single player when docked. Amazing battery life.

I’ve also finally allowed my son (4) to play a bit of Nintendo. He has chicken pox… the joy and simplicity of him on Mario Kart 8 and Yoshi’s Crafted World isn’t something I could come close to on any other console.

The assisted controls on Mario Kart are fecking brilliant. My 5 year old can win some of the GPs now and the steerinf assist is so seemless even I hardly notice it when playing.

He's really bad at Smash though.

He’s managed to get a 3rd place with assisted and honestly it was such a lovely moment how happy he was to get so many points. Not won a race yet but we do play exclusively 2 player games only on a short time basis (e.g. max one cup a day).

Did you bother with a wheel for yours?

No he prefers playing on half a joy-con with motion controls. Sometimes he plays handheld as well which looks hilarious.

Mine the same. Half joy con and tilting. Quite funny how much he leans for some corners.

Fully expect switch 2 to be a massive success. But let’s not forget before the Switch they had their biggest fail with the Wii U. And even the 3DS wasn’t selling anywhere near as well as the DS

They nearly always try something different each gen. But surely it will just be the switch again but better….

I had the OG Switch at launch and the OLED when that arrived and never got stick drift in either. But it is meant to be common so must have gotten lucky

The problem with Wii is that its success was built on something that wasn’t that easy to carry it onto the next generation as simply increasing the power was not going to be enough as it wasn’t a huge issue in the first place (people were just not bothered by graphics as they went mostly for motion control and fun). With Switch it’s fairly simple to follow it up with something that will retain the same appeal while addressing its key weaknesses.

3DS, I think they didn’t do enough to distinguish it from a normal DS and the 3D ended up being a gimmick many people could not be bothered with. It still sold 75 million so quite OK.

Switch usp is the handheld and gameplay being the main focus.

It’s just about fun, not showcasing the most power you can get out of a console, which everyone knows PC is better for anyway.

Yoshi's crafted world good for the little ones then? We just got our 5 year old (coincidentally has chicken pox) a switch for Christmas and hard to find games they don't get annoyed at if they struggle straight away.

Perfect first game. Put it on the slow and easy mode and it’s a lovely simple co-op which he’s loved. Can’t speak to the single player but it’s a really well thought out simple platformer/puzzler at least from what I’ve played with him so far.

I’d recommend it.
