Nile Ranger arrested...again & again & again...

Southend have lost one of their best players.

They really haven't.

Being my local club and still having many friends at the club after spending best part of 15 years connected to the club, it's safe to say plenty won't be sad to see the back of Nile. From what I gather at no point last season was he ever really match fit, he was often allowed to skip training and also had a strange arrangement with Phil Brown where the pair would often be seen down the seafront together having a pint. From what I've been told, Nile was on a pay as you play contract so wasn't costing the club huge amounts but it's disappointing for the club who thought they could help the bloke turn his career around.

Thanks for the insight. I was only really making that statement based upon his good goals to game ratio there (Edit: Although 8 in 27 isn't that good)

That 'pint with Uncle Phil' arrangement is a funny one though, maybe Brown had hoped to mentor Nile into better living.

He's a wannabe gangster but the truth his he's an imbecile. He had a chance to really be somebody and live a comfortable life. Instead he chose the street and now he is in prison. Total moron.

To be fair, the goals haven't been flying in for Nile but the few games I've been to he did offer a lot more than just goals.

Yeah you can maybe applaud Phil for trying something in order to get the best out of the lad but for someone who was never match fit the day he turned up down here, maybe going for a pint and allowing him extra time away from the training ground wasn't the best way to go about it.

100% agree. Wannabe is the perfect term for him. If you got 1000 youth off the estate and offered them the same chance, 999 would be professional footballers, he's the other one.

Lot of people on here judging Nile for things we've all done at one time or another.

Online bank fraud, numerous counts of assault, charged with rape, photos of him holding guns?

What forum do you think you're on?

I think the guy hasn't read the charge sheet, and thought Ranger was just guilty of some swears and a bit of drinking
