NHL 2024/2025

We have absorbed the loss of Point fully. Sketchy for the first period of the series, solid since.

Meh, i'm still coping with Doc Emrick's retirement :( :( :(

Guess going to some of Tampa’s premier strip clubs last night gave Florida the spark it needed.

Unreal. Amazing bit of luck on the Florida shot, then score completely against the run of play.

The second delay on the horn fooled me.

Wonder if they based that on Palat’s reaction or if they actually saw the puck touch the net.

SAH-WEEP!

Kinda get the feeling that this team is pretty decent at shutting down games when it really matters.
Is Vasi the best big game keeper ever? Think he has a pretty decent shout at that by now.

I remember I was pretty pissed when we let Bishop go to Vegas, but that emotion was changed pretty fecking quickly.

Disgusting behavior from "fans" towards Nazem Kadri for something that was not exactly his fault at all.

Haven't seen this level of racism against an active NHL player since when PK Subban and Joel Ward were attacked on social media after scoring overtime-winning goals against the Bruins back in 2014 and 2012 respectively.

It is the one thing in hockey I can't abide by, it does have a rather extreme institutionalised racism problem, along with a long list of other problems.

What exactly happened to cause this cnutish behavior?

Kadri has a past history of cheap shots during the playoffs, and he took an 8-game suspension after a dirty hit against a St. Louis Blues player last year. But the collision that injured Blues goalie Jordan Binnington 3 days ago was caused because the Blues D-man inadvertently steered course to make a 3-man collision unavoidable. The following video from this YouTuber also has the same explanation as to why the NHL rightfully did not suspend Kadri.

To make matters worse, Kadri is a Canadian of Lebanese descent. Whenever a non-white player does something deemed bad by one fanbase, the racists always come out in the open. Just as @Stobzilla mentioned, there is an underlying culture of institutionalized racism that stands stronger in hockey than in other team sports as hockey still remains a rich man's game with the equipment costs.

And it's very, very white as well. It's definitely an outlier among the big 4 sports in North America when it comes to diversity.

Edit: the same goes for the rest of the world as well obviously.

Exactly. There are excellent initiatives to increase diversity in the game right now as we are getting rid of several old school mentalities, but we may have to wait 10-20 years to see the full extent of their effect.

Go to the church and ask God to forgive you.

Smith.. that’s brutal. The Flames score from their own zone to make it 3-3.

Maybe he wanted to make Markström feel better.

If it wasn't for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Evander Kane coming to the rescue, that blunder from Mike Smith would have been the biggest feck-up in a long bit for a goalie. Properly speaking, it was even worse of a blunder than Marc-André Fleury's ascension to memedom against the Habs just last year.
