Yup. Let's run Carson up the gut against that strong D again, again, again, punt
Yeah, never mind that his best run was 5 yards, let's just keep trying cos maybe in the sixth quarter we'll have the defence worn down. And shock horror, it turns out Wilson is amazing, wish we'd tried that before we lost.

Man, really nervous about tonight. Chargers missing Hunter Henry, Jatavis Brown and potentially Brandon Mebane is a boost, but still...

Egad.

This thread is absolutely brutal on the Seahawks OC , never seen anything like it

If you look a couple pages back, I said I expected a win against Dallas. I didn’t expect Carroll and schotenheimer to basically play the game with one hand tied behind their backs.

What is the point of having a supposedly ‘elite’ QB if all you’re gonna do is run the fecking ball on 1st downs when you’re behind in the late 3rd?

Seahawks called a bad game that’s for sure.

But credit to Dallas’ D too. Fact remains Seattle has been incredibly run heavy all season and not many have been able to stop it. Dallas completely bottled them up.

It’s a tough one to call. But you have to think you’ll be better prepared for Jackson.

To be honest, the way to beat the ravens is discipline. Solid run defence - plugging gaps, setting the edge. You have to make Jackson throw by putting them in second and third longs.

If you lose because Jackson goes off on one and throws for 400 and 4 TDS, then so be it.

Tonight's games should be good ones. I was confident about Bears' D all week but I'd love some Foles magic.

Heh. I'm a ravens fan. You're right, the way to beat Jackson is by gap discipline and setting the edges on D, but the Chargers appear to have lost their best run defenders for this game and part of what helps the Ravens is their defenders are light and got pushed around last time by the Ravens OL. Schematically the Ravens do a great job pre and post snap in unbalancing the defence, the pulling guards and tackles create more space for Jackson to run in. I'm not sure discipline alone will do it for the Chargers and Jackson and Dixon will likely get theirs. Even with the losses on D I think the Chargers do a better job of up the middle on Gus Edwards and his dive plays, maybe limit him a bit. That said he breaks tackles so often because of his aggressive running style.

I don't think the Ravens get the pressure on Rivers they did last time and Keenan Allen will have a better game. I fancy Rivers to go over 300, whether that will be enough depends on how well Jackson throws the ball, hoping he goes over 200 yards and attacks the seams.

I think that the cowboys deserve a lot of credit for their D but I just can't get my head around the game . In the second quarter having done nothing on offence so far Wilson throws 26 yard and a 48 yard pass to get the team to the cowboys 12, next 2 plays they somehow decide to run the ball getting 3 yards over the 2 plays , Wilson gets one more chance to throw and they can't covert so Fg . Next possession they get the ball at the cowboys 48 and Wilson throws the ball for 21 yards , then they run again and lose 4 yards which leads to 2nd and 14 and another Fg . Having seen all this they go into HT 10-6 down and come out with two runs down the middle for 3 yards . I guess from what I have read this is the way they have played all season but I expected better from Caroll

Did Pete Carroll forget his QB is RUSSELL WILSON?!?!?!

How 'bout running on 3-and-7 down 4 in the 3rd? luckily for them they have Wilson(and Baldwin) who bailed them out on 4th down...

And they still went right back to running the ball into the teeth of the 5th ranked run defence who'd dominated them all night :wenger:

This is the kind of stuff you'd expect people to get fired for

It is, and that’s fine in the regular season but in a win and you’re out game I expect them to adjust and take advantage of what’s going on. Carroll is a great coach, the fact that they were even in the Playoffs is a big achievement but that’s a really annoying loss.

Think we need to get rid of the special teams coach and the OC. They’ve both lost us crucial games this season.

Don't think changing OC again would do anything, yeah he's shit but he's also adhering to Pete Carroll's philosophy, sack him and we'll just hire another guy to scheme runs straight up the middle on 3rd & 7. We had a chance to look for a more flexible, pass-oriented OC last season and instead went in the exact opposite direction. More chance of our ST coordinator getting sacked, not sure how he survived last year when we were axing Cable, Bevell and Richard. Made worse when you think Jason Myers is going to the pro bowl and he was competing with Seabass in camp, safe to say we made the wrong call there.

Washington, Cincy, and Miami should be contenders

Impossible for Washington. Smith's 2019 cap hit is 20.4M if on the roster and 42M if cut/traded (ain't no one acquiring that contract and leg injury). No way they can fit in two QBs averaging 20M+.

Washington is (cue broken record) in cap hell again. They're projected at 14M under before signing/resigning FAs this spring and before the draft. They could make some moves to maneuver the cap down some more but can't see how they'd afford Foles, and no one is trading for Smith and that contract.
