I want in. I don’t know what a dynasty league is or how it works though.
In addition to Venmo, there is also CashApp, iPhone payments, and Facebook payments. PayPal is dildos.

here's what im thinking for rules. counting jj12s friend and florida man we have 10 so lets assume we get to 12
- $50 fee per season plus $50 deposit due up front. if you quit after 1 year, your deposit gets added to the prize pool. if you quit after 2+ years, you get your deposit back once someone else takes over your team and pays their deposit.
- so thats $600. subtract $80 for myfantasyleague leaves $520. third place gets their money back so $470. $320 for winner and $150 for runner up.
- starting lineup is QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, FLEX, K, D/ST
- bench is 12 spots + 3 taxi squad spots
- taxi squad allows you to stash players there for 2 seasons then you have to promote them to active roster or cut them. you cannot start a player on the taxi squad unless your promote them to active roster. you need to have a roster spot for them in order to promote them. once you promote them you cannot ever put them on your taxi squad again. if you trade for a player you cannot put them on your taxi squad.
- 1 point PPR, fractional points, standard rules otherwise.
- the season ends 48 hours after the super bowl. you have to cut your 22 man active roster down to 17 by that point.
- starting 2 sundays after the nfl draft, we will have a 5 round rookie and free agent draft on the forum with 12 hour time limits to post your pick. the pool is all players who are rookies that year and anyone not on a roster when the season ends 48 hours after the super bowl.
- you are allowed to trade draft picks up to 3 years in advance. any year you trade picks from, your dues for that year are owed immediately. this ensures that someone doesnt trade a bunch of future picks and then quits and leaves the team dead in the water.
- the original draft will be snake. the rookie and free agent draft will be linear with last place getting #1 pick and champion getting #12 and so on.
Several questions:
- What’s the $50 deposit for? Besides encouraging a min commitment for two years, does it never get paid out? Seems like $550 will just be sitting in some sorta escrow.
- Is the $80 your fee for managing the league?
- Will draft pick trades be subject to approval?
- If you promote a player from your taxi squad, does that mean you’ve gotta drop someone to make room on your roster or can you make a one-time switch and add someone from your active roster to the taxi squad?
1. It gets paid out when you leave and someone takes your place. If the league disband everyone will get theirs back at once.
2. No, that's the fee for the hosting site myfantasyleague. They have different fees based on which month you sign up so it will be cheaper in future years.
3. Yes all trades will but only rejected in extreme situations. I think in the last 4 years I've rejected at most 1 trade
4. Anyone who has ever been on your active roster is ineligible for your taxi squad. So if you traded 2 players for 1 and opened up a spot, you could promote a taxi squad player. Or if you cut someone you could promote. But its only a 1 way move from taxi squad to active roster.

I'm not taking a fee to manage the league. I'm hoping that the dues discourage time wasters and I won't have to chase people around.
Cool, count me in. Never played in a dynasty league before, but always thought the dynamics were interesting. As for #1, yeah I get that if someone replaces you after two years that you'll get your money back. Just thought it was weird to have $600 just sitting idly somewhere. But to your point, it will discourage time-wasters.

Wouldn't blame you if you did. This sounds like much more work than being your typical commish. Almost a year-round job for starters (depending on how long the league lasts, could be years) and plus you've gotta babysit the dues. Now I trust you, but certain risks exist if you get yourself banned or get eaten by a grizzly bear.

I think it will be easier. For one theres no big draft. Just a 5 round draft that we can do on the forum. Two is that all dues will be required up front, not chasing people around or letting them delay like last year.
As long as I dont disagree with a certain mod I dont think I'll be band.

My thoughts on the rules:
1. I think splitting the money differently would perhaps keep people more interested. I agree bulk of the money should be 1/2/3 with 3 getting money back and 2 and 1 getting incrementally more. But perhaps something like $50 for third, $100 for second and $200 or $250 for first. That would give $120 or $170 to reward for other things perhaps which might keep people entertained even if they start poorly in a season. Not sure what these things might be but could be something to explore especially if it’s a long term commitment, might as well get it right and interesting as much as possible.
2. Personally think should remove defence and replace with a Flex or something else. And perhaps also Kicker. Reason I say that, especially for defense, is that once picked in year one, nothing will really happen here. Not likely to be drafted in subsequent years. And boils down to luck of picking up a defence when crap that eventually becomes good. It’s also not something you can easily predict a year or two in advance so not that exciting to include it.

1. Ideally we would do $10 per week to high scorer but that is dependent on finding a way to transfer money for no / low fees. I dont want PayPal eating into it too much.

And then once someone trades their next 3 first round picks for Todd Gurley then he gets hurt and they quit, you've got a wasteland team that has no chance of ever getting someone to pay $50 for. I'm still open to hearing your idea on this but hesitant to change it. Maybe only for years you trade your 1st round pick? It's not like you pay $100 to trade 2 first round picks. Once those seasons arrive you dont owe dues for that year. You just paid sooner than before.
1. Agree, if whatever we use has a bunch of fees it doesn’t work. Another alternative is you accumulate throughout the year and pay out at end of year. That would ease number of transactions and hence fees, and reality is a lot of the payout likely to go to whoever is first anyway, but with you on the fact that it depends on platform.

4. All valid points to be fair. Would just somehow need to keep track as if league does die out all that’s paid early would need to be paid back presumably. Ultimately would need to get a consensus on everyone who plays cos in this situation you might end up forking up $250 in year one if you go gung-ho which might put people off but I’m not that against it so if others are cool I’m cool.

Nearly impossible to get tickets this year in London. Gutted - really wanted to watch Raiders Vs Bears in particular.
Everything I've read suggests it's the way to go. I dont want to attempt yahoo or ESPN for a dynasty league. It would be a lot of extra work for me and at that point I would want a fee and so we might as well just have the professionals do it.

Also, if someone decides to leave the league then their replacement would be taking over that departing owner's roster, correct? Might be a tough sell trying to find someone to take over someone else's shitty roster. Don't see any other way to do it though, as we can't get mess with everyone else's existing rosters. Just something to think about.
That's what the deposit is for. Gives us an extra year if necessary to find someone. Plus shitty roster means a top pick next year. If someone leaves with a wasteland roster and we cant get any takers at full price we could even use the deposit to give the new owner a free first year and entice them to take over.
Plus there will be different dynamics than a one year league. I expect more trading and different teams competing at different times. Maybe theres a last place tram that still has a few good players but not enough to compete. So you take over that team and trade Melvin Gordon for TJ Hockenson, Christian Kirk, Royce Freeman and a future 1st round pick to someone who is just missing a top tier RB to win it all this year.
Had a discussion with some friends of mine about Calvin Johnson earlier and was wondering, how you guys feel about him. To me he's the best receiver I ever saw (been watching for roughly 15 years) at his peak. Virtually impossible to cover for a whole game. But strangely I feel that he's not ranked that highly for most people. Is that just some weird feeling I have or is he really not getting the recogniton he deserves? Because honestly, I see no receiver today who's close to his level.
He was the greatest or nearly so on ability but he played in Detroit so no one cares.
Yeah, that's the big injustice of US sports. To think someone like him had to play in Detroit for his whole career is just sad. So many great careers going to waste like this.
Could watch this all day. At times he was their whole offense and sole focus of the opposing defense and still got insane stats. He tore our secondary apart so many times.

I remember when Erik Williams nearly died drunk driving his car into an overpass. It was determined that his size practically pinned him in the driver's seat and ultimately saved his life despite the major injuries. Dude was the best right tackle in the game at that point and likely on a HOF trajectory, but after returning on a chartered flight after a victory in Phoenix and choosing to drive home was the wrong decision (and why no other Cowboys players/staff intervened is madness; how many others drove intoxicated the night?). He was still pretty good after he returned the following year but never as great as before.
Damn shame for this Norton fella granted he was likely a long shot at a career in the league beyond some practice squad and perhaps a few active roster callups. Wonder if the Dolphins will do anything for him, like see if he'd go the coaching or scouting route?
