NFL Thread 2013-14

I don't think he is anywhere near as good as Bridgewater. His arm isn't that strong. He relies on being faster than all defensive ends and outside linebackers, something that won't be true in the NFL. He was bailed out numerous times by Mike Evans winning jump balls. He makes a lot of bad decisions. I mean, look at this.

I've seen a few mock boards showing Houston drafting Manziel. This reeks of a selection about taking the Texas kid to appease fans/create hype. A few college fans I've talked to rate Bortles above Bridgewater and Manziel.

Blake Bortles has to be up there with Blaine Gabbert as probably the worst name I've ever heard.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson doesn't count because it's made up.

No Percy Harvin for Seattle. It's going to be a slog, this one.

Think thats a big blow for them - particularly considering their passing offense has been struggling of late.

Think the underdogs will win this one.

Haha, not sure about that! They've been on a strong run lately.

If the game was at the Stick, or a neutral venue, then would say the Niners would be favourites. But Seattle will go into the game as favorites given their homefield record.

The Niners are the most in form team without a doubt. If they don't turn the ball over and make the most of their opportunities (TDs, not FGs) then think they can get a win.

Question for College Football followers, Eboue, Mr. Marcello etc.

I'm gonna start watching it. When does the season start & finish and who should I support?! :D

Season starts in late august. Spring practices are in april, signing day is in a few weeks. Who should you support? First off, no one in the SEC. Not Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Miami or Texas either.

If you want a program that isn't obnoxious and has great history:

Michigan
Nebraska
Oklahoma

If you want a good program with red flags:

Penn State
Florida State

If you want a second/third tier program that has been good recently:

Oklahoma State
Michigan State
Virginia Tech
Oregon
UCLA
Stanford
Clemson
Baylor
Washington

But seriously. Michigan. Biggest stadium. Best college town. Most wins all time. Best blog (http://mgoblog.com). Best uniforms. Best helmets. Best fight song. Part of the greatest rivalry in sports. Tom Brady, Charles Woodson, Desmond Howard, Jake Long, Anthony Carter, Tshimanga Biakabatuka, Jim Harbaugh, Steve Hutchinson, Ty Law, LaMarr Woodley went to Michigan.

I think New England takes Denver and here is why. For large parts of the season the Patriots have ridden their luck and it has been smoke screens and magic but towards the end of the season and the entire post season so far it has been anything but smoke screens and magic. The Patriots have re invented themselves as needed into a power running unit as well as being able to get yards in the air. For the first time in a long time it is more than just Brady v Manning, it is also Welker v Talib and Blount v whoever is in front of him.

I reckon Talib v Welker to be a close battle with Talib coming out on top, Talib has always been put up against the best receiver on the opposition this year and has done what is required of him time and time again. Blount to run for big yards, he is a beast, his build allows him to punch his way through and he has great speed too. Personally I think Brady is the better quarterback simply because he has done more with less.

It will be close alright but New England takes Denver, Seattle takes the 49ers and New England takes the Lombardi trophy.

Awesome post Eboue. Was kinda leaning towards Michigan as I have one of their t-shirts, I've seen a few tv shows about them and that's where Tom Brady is from! Stupid looking helmet though.

I highly doubt Talib will be on welker. Talib will cover the outside threats, most likely Thomas, with Dennard on Decker

Anything is possible with Bill. He seems to do what he wants, how he wants and when he wants.

The running game is going to be very important but I think we'll see more of Brady passing today and Amendola will really have to step up and make himself a factor. Edelman's played very well in recent weeks but someone else needs to offer another option for Brady if we're going to win.

If Hoomanamanamui catches the winning TD, I will definitely learn his name!

Does that include saying it?

God no! Would take an entire season to learn to pronounce it.

Only had 12 catches this season (according to wiki) but he's actually been very effective in blocking which has set-up the successful running game. It's a testament to Brady's ability how he can go from relying heavily on the TEs in the passing game one season to hardly utilising at all the next, yet still look so composed.

Blountforce

I just call him Hooman.

 It's a fecking tongue twister that's for sure.

He always was more of a blocker though, wasn't he?

Wish the Seahawks game was the early one, gonna have to stay up real late now!

Im feeling the anticipation already ahead of this game.

You can get it from Ticketmaster website Baz. If you come over here at regular season games, Giants tickets are costlier than Jets ticket although they play in the same stadium. The Stadium actually is in Meadowlands NJ, but the commute should be easy. I've got tickets to Giants game at 150 dollars, so you can use that as a benchmark. I'll be happy to book tickets for you if you want.
thanks for that fishy. #expensive to be fair

Hopefully the Pats win or this will end up being a truly shit day.

Or the least that could happen is Harbaugh finally snaps and goes Hulk-mode on Pete Carroll. Now that would be fun to see...

I can't see the pats winning the superbowl so I'd rather lose this game than a third SB in 6 years. I'm no fan of the other 3 teams but as long as Manning doesn't win it, I don't care.
