NFL 2025 | To Tag or not to Tag?

Nah deebo is still class, and this will prove to be incredible value for Washington. Understandable from SF to move on though given they paid Aiyuk and picked up Pearsall in the first last year. Jennings looked great at times last year too. He's exactly the sort of receiver that Dallas have been missing since Gallup was good.

Yeah, Jeanty is a popular pick in the first in mock drafts given Jerry’s proclivity for RBs but as the WRs - not named Travis Hunter - fall in favor they may be able to pick up a guy to complement CeeDee.

CeeDee/Tet would provide them a Chase/Higgins type combo, for instance.

I think he’s done and has little to nothing left to offer. His stats have gone down significantly those last few years and I lack the imagination to see him turn it around. Injuries have done him. Otherwise the Niners wouldn’t want to part ways.

Hunter is seen as a CB by the league i think.

A few months after trading a third rounder for him, the Jets are trying to trade Adams and will release him, once it’s clear that nobody is going to give them anything for the opportunity to take on his cap hit.
What a horrible piece of business.

I mean.... it's the Jets

So looks like Slay is being released by the Eagles.

The Eagles D will look considerably different next season

Higgins has been tagged again by the Bengals

Trey Smith has been tagged by the Chiefs

A lot of speculation he'll be back on a reworked contract. But I don't know how I feel about that, I think it's a good time to cut ties. Oldest starting corner in the league, he was good last season, but I think they could bring back Isiah Rodgers on the cheap, who filled in a lot and was good. They've also got Keelee Ringo, who is raw but he's got a lot of potential. DeJean probably moves out of the slot this coming season too.

Milton Williams is going to get paid, but probably not in Philly. He deserves it though. Someone is getting a monster DT, just hope it's not Washington.

They just better not let Baun walk.

Cincinnati really is fecking their contracts up pretty badly imo. Had the chance to tie down Higgins long-term before Chase started kicking up a fuzz about his contract, didn't do it, now they need to pay him $26m without a long-term contract if he's willing to play on a second franchise tag. Chase is still seeking what probably will be the largest non-QB contract in history, Hendrickson wants an extension after a sack-leading season, Gesicki is a free agent, and they've cut their starting guard Alex Cappa to clear some cap space but their O-line in front of Burrow is far from the finished product.

Ah nice. The Eagles winning the Super Bowl was just a bad dream and the Chiefs did the threepeat. Let's fecking gooooo!!!!

Many seem to be saying the same thing about the Giants trading up to 1 for Cam Ward, and the distance between him and Sanders being greater than the latter vs Jaxson Dart.

Other than the above, this draft lacks spice. Dart may go higher than expected…and there might be a pass rusher that shoots up the boards I guess - probably from Georgia.

Jets Jets-ing New
Entirely unsurprising news but:

Seems like the kind of move the Giants would make indeed, probably give up quite a lot for moving up two places in order to draft a not-so-elite QB prospect.

Some much needed protection for Caleb Williams on its way to Chicago.

A fourth round pick might not sound like much. But considering his age and the fact that he will most likely become one of the highest paid guards in the league, it’s a costly move for the Bears.

Strange. Who’s blocking Mahomes’ blind side?
Not sure, think the upcoming draft is quite stacked for offensive linemen though, so they could be looking to draft an immediate replacement I guess. 10 years younger and on a rookie deal.

Not sure how I feel about the Chargers being linked to Davante Adams. While we desperately need a X WR and have plenty of cap space, investing in a past his prime, 32-yr old doesn't make the most sense. Long term deal for Higgins would have been ideal.

Imagine being an NFL team who desperately needs a QB, what a horrible draft class outside of maybe Ward.

I dunno man. There's no guarantees with the draft, and that's never clearer than with QBs.

Did Kingsley Saumataia play much/well last year?

Travis Kelce is back next year so he can fill in for Thuney

I don't think that Thuney could survive at tackle and so as a 32 year old Guard he is replaceable specially for a team with a lot of other needs.

If the conditions are right, he could really help you for a year or two.

For those wondering why the Chiefs traded Thuney...he was about to cost $27m in cap space and we weren't going to offer a 32 year old a new deal that would have restructured the cap. The Chiefs will have a $11m dead cap hit from this trade but it frees up $16m and we get a fourth rounder. This deal on its own makes sense but I'm still scratching my head about wtf we are doing franchise tagging Trey Smith, as in are we shopping him or are we getting ready for an extension? I assume Veach is trying to extend Smith because it will be a fecking tall order replacing both guards and finding a starting LT in the off-season.

Crossing my fingers on working out a trade with Seattle for DK Metcalf. While I think he's a bit of a headcase, he's 5 years younger than Davante.
Very small chance imo given that they just released Lockett. Wouldn't have any reliable receiver outside JSN otherwise.

The disrespect to Jake Bobo.

Metcalf's asked for a trade apparently just to really make sure today is a shit one for Seahawks fans. I knew Lockett was likely gone but it still sucks.
