NFL 2023

Before HT Payton called ridiculous timeouts and gifted the chiefs 3 points. Those would have been handy now

Steve Smith absolutely roasting Jerry Jeudy (or should I say Jerry Poody) was gold. Gold Jerry.

I know some people in here like to watch all the game in 40s throughout the week. In this instance I'd recommend you don't do it for this game. Butker's kicks were easily the highlight of this sorry affair.

Looks like the Niners will face the Browns without the sex pest and then the Vikings without Jefferson. Not bad.

Butker made my chance of winning the week’s fantasy matchup go down. I have Kelce too :nervous:

I see Russ has been cooking again with 57 passing yards through three quarters.

Is this Tebow bad territory he's entering?

Not seen last night and I’m sure that changes the stats, but as @Organic Potatoes says he’s not the main issue.

Not saying he’s been amazing or anything, and certainly not suggesting he’s on Mahomes level, but the narrative that he’s the one to blame for how dogshit the team is performing is lazy.

These WRs wouldn’t get open much if they were playing against half a defence. It’s shambolic.

Their main problems from what I've seen are:

1. The worst defense in the NFL, both in yards per game and points per game conceded.

2. A terrible running game, despite having Javonte Williams who now appears healthy again. He did show some promising signs last night, but will probably need an OL that can sustain a running game.

3. Underutilization of Jeudy and Mims in the passing game.

The latter two will obviously make it harder for Wilson to be as effective as some thought he would be when he came to Denver.

4. Coaching instability - Being 1-5, including one of the most humiliating losses ever, can't be good for Payton's job stability, which is (imo) already on display in how confidently the team are executing.

Re: 4--They'll fire Paton before they fire Payton. The entire defense coaching staff are dead men walking, of course.

If you remove the 70-20 loss to the Fins, they would still be near the bottom of the total defense list. Also, whose bright idea was it to hire Vance Jospeh ?

You think GP goes before SP?

Don’t get me wrong I’m not averse to Paton going, but SP absolutely needs to go too imo. But I do acknowledge I never wanted him in the first place and just do not like him so my patience was never going to last long with him.

Payton, which should be a sackable offense by itself.

As should talking so much smack in pre-season and then serving up what we’ve seen so far.

SF will not end the regular season undefeated.

I am not saying they will, it is more I am looking to see if there is a value bet to be had. I know it is a long shot, but if the odds are longer, imo, I will have a punt.

However, I cannot find any odds on it, hence the question.

I do often think about bets like that but I just really don't like having to wait over a day or so for the outcome to be decided. If I had patience I'd stick a grand on KC to win the Super Bowl at 11/2. I think we have about a 25-30 percent chance of winning it so those odds are rather favourable.

Think if you fancy the niners to go unbeaten just stick some money on them to win every week and let it build. Would imagine over the remainder of the season it’ll add up quite nicely, plus if they get banged up as they usually seem to manage then you can decide not to bet on a particular week.

I agree with Calodo, I think we’ll lose a few before the end. Probably lose to the Eagles in December and then a daft result somewhere.

@Charlie Foley there were rumours Watson was going to play with his shoulder injury, but I guess they realised there’s a chance we’d have ended his season. Looking forward to see how Gregory fits in and whether he’s the missing piece opposite Bosa.

I think unless you start to score points 25-30% is a bit ambitious. Doesn’t look like you have the personnel to win a shoot out and think you need to be putting up 30-40 pointers on your side of the conference

Sean was the new owners' hire as opposed to George. I'm still more favorably disposed to Paton than the general fan base, but he's had instances terrible luck and/or decision making in free agency and doesn't have the track record in his current position that Payton does.

After Vance he'd be the next most likely to take the fall in my opinion.

Just going off past history. Made 3 out of the last 5 Super Bowls and unless it's a complete mismatch like the Tampa Bay one I'd say it's probably a 50/50 match. Also helps that no AFC team looks impressive on both offense and defense so getting to that game is definitely a realistic possibility at this point.

We may field a basically healthy 53 on Sunday. Evans practiced today with no restrictions.

Lions are dinged up.

I attended far more Bucs games at the Old Sombrero than Raymond James & have a soft spot in my heart for it even through the 2-14 seasons. There was always a good vibe no matter how few fans were in the stadium. Ray Jay is a sterile environment for me, but it will be absolutely rocking for the Creamsicle game Sunday.

Too bad it didn't work for Brady to be the QB in that game.

The biggest mark against Paton for me was extending Russ before he’d played a single down for the team, that was utterly ridiculous.

I’m by no means tied to him but I don’t think otherwise he’s done a terrible job. The coaching is by far the biggest issue.

I’d never discount you, just don’t think based on the level now you could outscore the likes of the Bills or the Fins, that’s before you got to the Eagles (who I’m also not certain on) and the 49ers (who again despite being my team I can’t escape the feeling we’ll have a bad injury or two at some point and crash)

Creamsicle game is?

Throwback game when we don our original 'Creamsicle' orange uniforms we wore from our inception in 1976 to the mid 90s...

It happens unfortunately pretty rarely, think the last one was eleven-ish years ago.

It's always a huge game for us for nostalgia reasons & we always play an old NFC Central foe, this time we are tangling with the Lions.
