NFL 2023

Herbert and the Chargers for their talent haven’t progressed and the buzz has worn off
Perhaps I'm being harsh but I really don't think the Chargers should have paid him. He's a talented football player but I just don't think you are going to win a Super Bowl with a quarter back who's a quiet, introverted guy lacking in leadership qualities. And you only give those sorts of contracts for players who are going to do just that. Out of all the quarter backs with their rookie contracts coming up, I assumed it would be Herbert who moved elsewhere. Also if I were him I'd like to experience what it's like playing in an actual home game.

Can we just fast forward to 9ers cowboys please

Have a bad feeling about this match, we’ve been doing too well with injuries this season so I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose to the cowboys and have an injury or two.

Looking forward to seeing how Purdy does against them either way. One QB who looks grossly underpaid vs one who most certainly isn’t

Is his leadership that bad? Feel sorry for him really as the Chargers are just poor on all levels; from pitch to fanbase

He's well known for being really shy and quiet. There have been a load of articles about him recently "finding his voice" after 4 years in being in the NFL. Perhaps it should be taken at face value but the cynic in me is thinking it's just the PR team working away until his next collapse in a season defining game.

Not to be disrespectful but I think it’s archaic thinking that a quiet and shy person cannot be an effective leader. There are many different leadership styles and you don’t need to be extrovert and loud to be one. I don’t know if he’s an effective leader or not but being shy / introvert / quiet isn’t why he isn’t effective. I also think the Chargers have had so many problems coupled with bad luck that I can understand why they’ve underachieved too. It will be interesting to see where they go from here though.

I think it's archaic to believe that an introvert can't be an effective leader. I however believe that combination of being that and being quiet though is massive disadvantage as a quarterback. Everything in the offense flows through the quarterback and if you aren't a person who is comfortable with communicating what you want your players to do for you on the sideline then you are reliant on others filling the gaps for you. The fact there are so few quarterbacks that are shy and quiet seems to suggest that it's not a desirable characteric.

Chandler Jones has started up again.

The Bears seem to start well recently but will reserve any thoughts until last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter.
DJ Moore has been great though.
Washington OL just not there today.

Read a couple pages back about intentional grounding, it kind of seems like most times refs almost never call it. Or are rather very generous in letting it slide.

Don't know how many times I saw QBs literally get rid of the ball by throwing it out and has not realistic chance of being caught.

Really? Never seen many problems with that being called...or not called.

Maybe I'm not understanding the rule properly, but it happened at least twice last night. And the commentators picked up on the one.
There's mitigating factors like being outside the tackle-box, having the throw affected by a hit, an eligible receiver in the area that wasn't obvious, etc.

I haven't seen it as one that's egregiously mis-called consistently; seems like the ones that aren't stick out like a sore thumb moreso.

Claypool traded to Dolphins.. At his height he might become an asset if coaches can get in this head.

Crazy result and stats.

I can only assume he actually ran most of those yards after the catch rather than Fields actually throwing it that far
Some big YAC. 45 points, my highest score for one player for the last few years.

He was running the same 2 routes the whole time and they refused to stop it. :wenger:

49ers trading for Gregory from the Broncos. He was allegedly released yesterday b it it never went through and we’ve given them a 6th for him and one of next years 7ths. Apparently only on the hook for the vet min this year, no idea for future years.

Really struggled to get sacks this year despite the talent on the roster and high numbers for pressures and hurries. Now just need a corner as Thomas is a liability.

Denver trading a player to jump up 2 or 3 places in the draft.

Do you mean because of scheming? Fields has a cannon for an arm if he wants to, that's never been his problem.

Difference being able to throw and throw accurately not to mention the time he takes to throw.

I really don't think he's good enough to start at a team.

I gave him a chance as he clearly has talents but i don't the bears keeping him as their starter after the next draft

Just wondering if anyone has experience using Northumberland Park station right after football/NFL?

I need to get to Victoria so I either get to Tottenham Hale by train or walk if it saves a load of hassle queuing.

Think they just wanted rid of him so any upwards movement probably seen as a win.

Head scratcher of a trade though, since the Niners are only paying about $840k of his salary and the Broncos are stuck with the rest, which is over £10m

I think he’s great and can be great with the right franchise and offensive scheme.

Leads the league in passing TDs as well right now (albeit with a game extra).

Huge savings against the cap for next year for Denver is why they did it this way.
