NFL 2023

So much wankathon in the media about the Giants last season and they are 1-3 with Miami & Bills next.

Also zero INTs and zero sacks taken in the last two weeks, all behind a questionable Houston O-line. Very impressive start from Stroud.

Such a dumb decision for the Giants to extend Jones at the cost given which was prime market rate. They could have locked him on a one-year franchise tag. They probably could have offered sub-market rate, don't see any other club making a big push to sign him, and he'll likely have taken it after finding no other interested parties.

Have you seen him play? Lot of people saying good things about his poise etc. but I've not had a chance to watch him properly.

On Redzone but no full games yet, but every time they're near the goalline he's simply looked comfortable to me yeah, not easily fazed. Seems to easily connect with Dell and Collins on deep throws as well.

Just checked and they don't have a primetime game the entire season ffs

Haha, I guess this team have surprised people, I wonder if they can make some serious noise this season ahead of schedule?

I have heard similar things re Stroud, will have to keep a closer eye on him. It's very very early but QBs that start this well often go on to be good.

Seen a bit of him channel hopping. Looks settled in the team and is performing well. Looks one of the better rookies drafted over the past few years already.

Mind you I watched Howell look like prime Brady marching the commanders down the field in the last normal time drive against the Eagles so maybe I am not the best judge.

Not at all, I'm sure SH did look good in that drive and he has done many good things so far. It's just so hard to gauge at this stage, whether they look good like Stroud apparently does, or underwhelming like the guy picked ahead of him. You just never know until the sample size is big enough.

He looks really good.

those are the games that are really important to win. Lots of mistakes but get the job done. It’s like a free check in the win column. Shame!
Yeah, our secondary's future looks bright with him and Woolen.

And yeah, good to win a game like that. Quite happy to have an early bye as well given we had 4 OL out and one playing out of position yesterday. Somehow was still better than the Giants OL.

The giants had an OL? I must have missed that

Wish I had two weeks until the next Raiders game... between United and the Raiders, there's no fecking joy at all.
Oof - that’s 2 disastrous teams to be following right now

Yup, and no end in sight to the misery either. Bowl head isn't getting rid of McDaniels any time soon, cos he's fecking incompetent as an owner... a long line of shit head coach and GM decisions. We haven't had a competent defense in what feels like 30 years. I'm not asking for a good one, just an average one, and yet somehow they always end up with a fecking terrible one, and when we do get skill position talent on offense we waste them with a dogshit OL, or crap QB play, or terrible play calling. And don't even get me started on the shitshow that is United at the moment. Until the fecking Glazers feck off with their billions to spunk that up the wall at the Bucs, United are well and truly fecked.

It all starts at QB, you sign up for a few years of bang average at the very best when signing Jimmy G to a contract imo.

Trade Adams (and maybe Crosby as well), start O'Connell for the entire year and enter the Caleb Williams sweepstakes. And hope to hit the jackpot with your new HC next year as well.

That'd be the sensible thing to do for certain, but Davis is so bloody stubborn that I can't see it happening. We restructured Jimmy G's contract this year to make it virtually impossible to get rid of him until the end of 2024, so it seems we're fecking doomed to be stuck with him, and McDaniels until then.

It’s interesting isn’t it. Denver have somehow capitulated. Herbert and the Chargers for their talent haven’t progressed and the buzz has worn off. And the Raiders were never meant to be one of the power houses but existed to be good to be a nuisance have also gone to shit.

It’s amazing how fast things turn in the NFL.

The AFC West is fine as it is. Great division!
