Anyone who thinks thinks that rule is stupid needs to watch some videos of Chuck Cecil. They should have named the rule after him. That guy was mental.
Loved Chuck Cecil  Watching safeties like Lott, Atwater, Cecil, John Lynch, Dawkins, Polamalu, etc crushing dudes going down the middle used to be the best part of watching football.

This sucks because Baker is actually playing like a legit playoff QB. But he loses his LT on the first play, gets a long pass called back on holding, and then that play happens.

Because nobody had possession. If you fumble out of bounds, it’d still be the ball of whoever had it last. When you cross the goal line, you need to have possession. It’s basically a live ball.

Ya - but say I fumble at the 40 yard line and the ball rolls out of bounds at the 45 - where’s the ball spotted when I get it back?

You know who can’t remember Chuck Cecil playing? Probably Chuck Cecil.
You made me google Chuck Cecil. Didn't realize he's part of U of A's coaching staff. Also didn't realize he went to Helix High School. Same school where Reggie Bush and Alex Smith went to.

At the 45, where it goes out of bounds.

Makes sense then TBF. Assumed it would have been 40y as you can’t really benefit from yards out of possession!? What if you know your about to go down, so before grounding you just ‘fumble’ the ball out a few more yards.

what a sport.

We can all turn it off if the Chiers score here.

Found this on reddit:
Intentional forward fumbles are illegal. I think the call would be illegal procedure or illegal forward pass. It would certainly be a judgment call that the ref would have to make.

For most offensive penalties that happen late in the game, there is a 10 second runoff of the game clock. This provides a great enough incentive for teams not to try fumbling forward our throwing the ball out of bounds...

If they rule him okay to come back after this...

Why do you let him run there in the first place? Weird play in that situation.

Mahomes is surely done for this game. Browns scoring on this drive will make things extremely interesting.

What knocked him out? Did he take an arm to his chin? Or the bang on the floor? I’m struggling to see it. Slow mo is actually making it harder to judge.

Think itwas the initial forearm to the chin area. Definitely out as he was going down.
