Exactly, there was no point playing injured for a team with no near future. The surgery was logical at the time.

Really? Isn't that a excuse for quitting? "Oh, we are not getting anywhere this season, so let me take it easy!"

He signed a 3 year contract, tweets about retirement just some months in....and then ducks that question after rejoining Pats.
Claims Packers are forcing him to play with injuries....and then voluntarily plays for another team.
"3 of 7" doctors said he needs surgery. Seem neither Packers not the Pats doctors think so. He has problem with Packers not Pats.

Such a douchebag!

Marty Bennett, what a douchebag!

So he played with Pats as revenge for being cut by Packers? Wanted season ending surgery and when cut joins up to play with Pats and has the arrogance to give a expletive filled interview! Seems he's fine with Pats doctor clearing him to play, but not Packers one.

Quitter!
Bellichek working his black magic again. Twitter was not kind to Bennett last night.

Let's be clear about something. Bennett doesn't give two shits about the Packers like 95% of their roster and that's also true for all the other franchises. He plays for money and glory, he has no intention of playing hurt for nothing.

Packers are going nowhere, he might retire at the end of the year and the Pats give him a familiar system and a (possible) last chance at glory.

The NFL is a business, and he's finessed the feck out of your Packers.

You need rarely use TEs in your offense. Finley was good. Ever since then TEs havent done well in Green Bay. Even with Rodgers both Cook and Bennett, who are good TEs, sucked.
When Rodgers was on the field, Bennett caught 21 passes for 202 yards and was targeted 34 times in six games.

Thats like 30-35 yards a game. That isnt much at all. This guy throws for around 300 yards a game. And I dont think he caught a TD pass all year.

Yeah I think you're seriously overrating Bennett here. Packers have a lot of guys who k=need targets.

How am I overrating Bennett?
In that you expect he should have gotten a lot more targets than he did. He must have been on pace for 80 plus targets 500 yards+ with the Packers which is what you would expect. He had great numbers last year but he would have been nowhere near that if Gronk didn't get hurt.

Surely he is a good redzone target? So he should have had more TDs this season. I wasnt talking about him having a 1000 yard season. Lot of TEs dont get too much yardage but they make up for it by being a good redzone player.

Which kind of make his point, Bennett was the TE1 and at Green Bay it means that you are at best the 5th receiver. Bennett is better than that, he isn't a blocking Tight End and GB was a bad fit for him.

Yh but GB have Nelson, arguably the best redzone receiver in football. Can't see Rodgers going away from that just because the front office overpaid for a new TE>

I agree with that. GB definitely overpaid for him and he wasn't a great fit for their offense unless they were going to start going into more 12 personnel sets like NE does. But based on the offence GB runs I think he got his fair share of targets. He also dropped a few balls this season including on the play where Rodgers got hurt.

About this time last season Falcons got on a roll

Both the build-up and the state of the division if somewhat different though. Which isn't to say that yesterday wasn't a real confidence boost and showed some key signs of improvement (particularly in the red zone and doing the business at 3rd down), just that we've looked like shrugging off our issues before. If the passing game holds steady and Julio has the chance to heal some... :)

Bennett was a failure but it really turned into that once Rodgers got hurt.

TBH, can see if from both sides. But feck him lol.
