Never count out the Patriots - they've won Super Bowls with many a player injured.

The Steelers and Chiefs really have a great opportunity - Pittsburgh's Week 15 home game against New England and Week 16 matchup in Houston may be the most important games of the year. Get homefield and stay outta Foxborough in January.

That said, the NFC is wide open. No Rodgers means that teams like the Eagles, Cowboys, Seahawks, Vikings, Panthers and Falcons will all get a solid shot at claiming the conference crown. If Zeke plays and avoids suspension (which I think he will) the Cowboys will be dangerous. Dak is doing so well.

It was always shit.

Was far from shit on Sunday.

Not that I expected them to sustain it. Certainly won't without Hightower.

The D is shit but looked like it was on the rise - absolutely not now.

Was about to go to bed thinking it was Cutler vs. Flacco tonight but I will stay up to watch Matt Moore

Ffs our D was already really bad, without Hightower it’ll be much worse. He was the leader on defense. Massive loss.

“Tony is ahead of schedule,” McManus said this week. “I still think there is a lot of upside there. What I’m pleased with is the chemistry between Jim Nantz and Tony. It’s easy going. It’s listenable.

“You really learn a lot by listening to Tony. You learn about defensive schemes, strategy, clock management. That’s a key barometer of how successful an analyst is – how much the viewer is learning and how much he’s talking about the why and not just the what and advancing the storyline and what teams need to do strategically.”

Damn that hit is debatable. Not sure if its a flagrant/ejectable hit. Flacco did change his position at the final second so MIGHT have been too late for Alonso.

"That would've been really accurate, it it'd been a Dolphin."

Even though i was at Wembley for that Miami shocker, the past two weeks hinted at better than this.

Both of my bets look sunk at this point.

Absolutely no way is that hit fine. He purposely lowered the shoulder to his head.

Dolphins are a dirty team. Suh in particular yesterday, out of control and needs some bans

The Eagles and Vikes are legit contenders in the NFC, maybe even favorites. Wentz turned out to be a terrific draft pick.

Eagles standing out for me. Their defence is electric and on offence they made some exceptional moves in Blount and Jeffery in particular - proven talent to truly complement what they already had.

Granted haven’t really come unstuck yet and when things start going wrong seeing how they perform and grind results will be key.

Cowboys are far too erratic atm but I’m pretty sure they’ll get a wild card spot.

Vikings should have a very good shot at winning their division but big question marks on offence for me. Keenum has looked great so far - is he really gonna keep it up? Losing Dalvin Cook will surely catch up. Lions are good and so are Green Bay despite Rodgers. But probs not enough to stop the Vikings.

NFC south is a mess. Bucs are still not there. Panthers look crap. Falcons struggling. Could Saints have a real shot? Maybe you know. In a division which has been all about big offence, they might have that this year and a D that can handle them.

And the west ... Rams or Seahawks but which? Experience favours the Hawks, performances are favouring the Rams. And their performances look true - I.e not inflated results.

For me the NFC is fascinating because no team is there; each has what ifs, question marks, concerns. More so than AFC I’d say.

But he was going for the first down and Alonso was entitled to hit him hard but then literally the last second he slid to his knees. Alonso is coming at full speed and his shoulder pad hit his helmet. Its not a clear cut case. Definitely debatable like I said.

I understand where you’re coming from. And absolutely Flacco was late in sliding and Alonso was committed. I think what sway it for me is if you watch in slow mo, I really do get the feeling that he lowered it further to make the contact he did. That’s why I think it’s a foul.

He was leading into the hit. It's not even an attempt to tackle, but definitely going for a hit there. Leading with his arm/upper body. And he was a step late. It's not like Flacco is going to do a beastmode and break tackles for a end zone run. Bad decision, worse tackling and definitely a unnecessary hit.

He was going for the first down. he was entitled to go for the hit. Flacco changed his mind last sec. Thats the risk a QB takes when he scrambles. If he slid two secs earlier, he wouldn't have been hit. As a defender, he was trying to prevent him from getting the first down.

You are missing the point completely.

Okay lets say he didnt slide down and was going for the first down. Firstly he wouldnt have got hit on the helmet. He would have taken a body shot, albeit a bad one. But it wouldnt have been this bad. He actually took a worse hit by falling to the ground.

So this is all Flacco's fault? Every defender worth his salt know the QB is going to slide down. But Alonso didn't seem to care. He just rushed headlong into a tackle...leading with his body.

On your side, the best argument will be on QBs to protect themselves more by not rushing till last second...which is fair point.

But still if NFL's players are serious about concussion and injuries, these type of hits should be penalized.

That photo does not tell the whole story. If I put up a picture of Adams getting hit two weeks ago, it wont look bad cause it was just a hit from the side. But we all know that wasnt the case.

Look if he was sliding from the very beginning then this hit is no question and should be a flagrant/ejectable. But look at how late started sliding. If he still running for the first down that would have been a hit on the sternum. Also I am not saying this hit would not be penalized. I was trying to make that the point that its debatable and there are arguments for both sides. Usually thats not the case aka the Burfict hit on Brown last year and Travathan hit on Adams this year. Those were clear cut suspendable hits.

Just a heads up for UK viewers, with our clocks going back last night RedZone is on at 5pm instead of 6pm tonight.

I was just coming to post this myself, glad i double checked too because Niners are losing at 5 this week not 9.25 as i originally thought.

Well if not through the air, the Pats D will give up big yards on the ground.

Good patience, throw & catch by the Bills for the TD. Would be nice if Oakland could win this one.
