6 completions from 12 attempts? 1 rushing TD and a fumble... Yep that's the Tebow I remember.

I think the media love him because he's a nice guy, got the looks and of course he's deeply religious. Plus of course we kept delivering Tebow time comebacks. Mind you I'm happy with him as our third choice QB. He's better than most teams back ups though that's not hard.

Giants fan hey? Oh dear never mind. Though Beckham is one hell of a player.
That's part of it, but the main reason is he had one of the most successful college careers in recent memory. There's a good shout to be made for him being one of the best college players ever. Am not saying that he has the tools to be an effective NFL QB, but his college career is pretty staggering.

Yes that's very true he was hugely successful in college... That rightly brought with it a lot of hype! Sadly he's not been able to back it up but I think under Chip Kelly he will get a few chances as a wildcard.

He probably should have switched position when he moved to the NFL.

I can't think of another example of someone who was so successful in college - winning the Heisman and everything - and yet was not considered a lock to make it in the NFL and was not being discussed as a top 3 pick (or even top 10).

Agree that he should have switched to TE or FB.

I kind of think it's refreshing though. He clearly believes he can make it as a QB and that's the position he wants to play. If you grow up playing as a star QB and being one of the best why switch to a new position? And if he's happy to do that and take the risk of not having a professional football career then fair play.

That's alright too, if we didn't have glory hunters Man City's stadium would still only a quarter full rather than half full.

Ooh cutting... But very true!

Still can't believe it's 3 weeks on Thursday until the season starts. It's been too flipping long now!!!

Yeah, can't wait for it to start up again!

The college season starts the week before as well I think. Ah American Football heaven for 6 glorious months. My poor poor girlfriend.

Any 49ers fans on here? Worried for the coming season? I would be!

Anyone watch the Hard Knocks premiere on sky sports? They should have just called it.. JJ Watt..Knocks.

Or something more clever.

Not seen it yet as the broadband connection at home was playing up but my mate told me it was the JJ Watt show haha. He's a beast though and that D line for Houston is going to be scary.

Is pre-season shown on Sky Sports?

They did last year but we've already had one game and there's the next fixture of games this weekend so doesn't look like it. Apparently though Sky Sports have an announcement on the NFL to make. Some think it'll be to show pre season games whilst there's rumors it'll maybe be a Sky Sports NFL channel! Please to god yes... Sky Sports being more than sky soccer!

Bring back Revis :(

It's only pre-season, but great to have football back!

Edit: I hope McCourty isn't played at CB in the regular season games. He's a safety, will be found out at cornerback.

Another round of pre season games in the bank... The positive to take from that? We are another week closer to the new season!

And what are we learning from pre season? Well not a lot really. Shocker! :D

Anyone know if Cowboys v 49ers is on tele in the UK tonight?

Not sure if worried is the right term as I don't think we're under any illusions as to what to expect this year. Our D has been decimated for various reasons (age: Justin Smith, injury: Patrick Willis, concerns: Chris Borland and stupidity: Aldon Smith). Thankfully Bowman is back and really hoping he is fully recovered from his knee injury. He hasn't rushed back from it, so hope it is fully behind him. He looked v good in the 3 snaps he played last night - 3 snaps, 3 tackles (2 for loss).

So I think our D will be solid overall, but we won't be able to rely on it to keep us close, which is what we have been doing.

I hope our offense starts to click a bit more. Last season was extremely disappointing - if it had gone to a doctor it would have been diagnosed as schizophrenic. We had no real identity, and appeared to want to switch from a running team to a 3 wide passing team and random (and often inopportune) moments during games.

I love watching Kaepernick play. He can be frustrating, but can also be very exciting. Kap is never going to be a pocket passer, so hopefully the O will play to his strengths more this year - and that he can get more protection from the O line.

I think the additions we have made on the offense are good ones - Torrey Smith is a good upgrade over Crabtree (I liked Crabtree, but we have missed having top level speed in that position for a while). Smith should be able to stretch the field a bit more, and Kap need to be more accurate on his deep throws. We also need to get Vernon Davis more involved in the passing game this year - he was almost absent last year. I think he is going to have a great year personally. The other change is that I hope we throw to our RBs more. That has traditionally been a large component of the 49ers, and would be good to get back to that - particularly with having Reggie Bush on the team. Having that option will help Kaepernick I think.

Finally, am loving seeing the impact Jarryd Hayne is having. Having played both sports myself, I was intrigued to see how he would handle the transition, but he seems to be doing very well so far. Of course, it is early days - and preseason days at that. But he is a serious athlete and will make plays in the open field. I really hope he makes the team - I think his performances on special teams should ensure this. His punt returns have been excellent so far - particularly his over the shoulder catch and return against the Cowboys last night, and he is also the first player downfield on our kickoffs.

Love this show so much!

The level of access they get is unreal - could never see a Premier League equivalent be granted the same.

It's also good to see how different teams work, and see players that you would otherwise not know too much about. Would love the Niners to be featured next year...
