Phil Rivers + Antonio Gates

In 2006, I managed Rivers, Gates AND Tomlinson. That was the year Tomlinson had 28 touchdowns and Gates had 9 from Rivers, so needless to say I walked to the championship game and then blew out my opponent.

That's brilliant.

Sorry but I have to bump this up. United are playing like an NFL team  defeated the gooners with a touchdown followed by a two point conversion...poor arsenal only got a safety HAHAHAHAHA

Had my fantasy auction on the weekend (and another this weekend).

QB - Philip Rivers
RB - Steven Jackson
RB - Jamaal Charles
WR - Vincent Jackson
WR - Pierre Garcon
WR - Mike Sims-Walker
TE - Jimmy Graham
K - Alex HEnery
DEF - Eagles

Res - AJ Green
Res - Matt Stafford
Res - Josh Freeman
Res - Tony Gonzalez
Res - Daniel Thomas
Res - Tim Hightower

In process of picking up Antonio Brown off waivers for Gonzalez. I was overall happy with my draft but I have a big weakness in WR, so hoping Brown will continue his pre-season form

Cowboys cut their starting center, Gurode. Have no idea what the feck they're doing down there. Jerry has really fecked over that club since the mid-90s.

Tony G is getting on abit and I like Jimmy Graham as the Saints starting TE. As I need more strength in WR (espec if peyton isn't ready at start of season) I'm going with Brown who looks like a break out candidate

If anyone has got new Madden and fancies a game on PS3, let me know

Just picked it up today - so will let you know.

What's your PSN username? Mine's the same as on here...

BTW - haven't checked the whole thread, but who's your team?

Had my 2nd fantasy draft over the weekend for my other league. Ended up with

Michael Vick
Jamaal Charles
Steven Jackson
Vincent Jackson
Miles Austin
Jeremy Maclin
Lance Kendricks
Cardinals D
Alex Henery

Bench
Matt Stafford
Jimmy Graham
Pierre Garcon
Malcom Floyd
Kenny Britt
Kendall Hunter

Probably not big news anywhere else but in Tampa this is as big as it comes: Former Bucs' star, USF official Lee Roy Selmon dies.

RIP big man.

For the guy with Manning as his fantasy football QB (jgraham?), there is rumours that he's out for the season with a neck injury, or at the very least will miss a few weeks. Might want to try trade him before it becomes official.

(twitter rumours, but he is definitely being re-evaluated by doctors because of his neck)

That rumour was false I believe. The Colts just activated him from the PUP list. Yes they are reevaluating him though because of some lingering soreness but no additional surgery has been scheduled.

rumours are that he won't start the season. Makes Pierre Garcon in both my teams almost useless if that's true.

I'm deciding between Lance Moore and Robert Meachem in one league

and Dexter McCluster, Robert Meachem in the other

thoughts?

Unless I'm mistaken, the NFL season starts tomorrow and there's still no Favre comeback!

What are the Caf's predictions for the playoffs & Superbowl this season? Utilising my limited knowledge of the NFL, here are mine:

AFC North: Steelers, Ravens (wildcard)
AFC East: Patriots, Jets (wildcard)
AFC South: Colts
AFC West: Chargers

NFC North: Packers
NFC East: Eagles, Cowboys (wildcard)
NFC South: Falcons, Saints (wildcard)
NFC West: Cardinals

Superbowl: Saints v Patriots

AFC North: Steelers
AFC East: Patriots
AFC South: Texans
AFC West: Chargers

Wildcard: Ravens, Colts

NFC North: Packers
NFC East: Eagles
NFC South: Saints
NFC West: Cardinals

Wildcard: Lions, Cowboys

Superbowl: Patriots v Packers

Packers vs Eagles in the NFC championship.
Patriots vs Steelers in the AFC championship.

Safe, but damn them matchups will be great if they get to them fit and everything. Hopefully Vick not a comeback wonder and him and Rodgers slug it out for MVP this year.

Also, think the Lions are gonna be damn good, so can't see my Bears making the playoffs by fluke again, though I'm off to Wembley to see them.

Can't believe the Jags cut Garrard. I'd say one of the following make a move for him shortly: Redskins, 49ers, Seahawks, Bills, Dolphins, Raiders, Bengals. Of those clubs, I think the 49ers is the most intriguing given the current staff and the crap division.

My picks
NFC East: Eagles 11-5, Cowboys 9-7, Redskins 7-9, Giants 6-10
NFC North: Packers 12-4, Vikings 9-7, Lions 8-8, Bears 6-10
NFC South: Falcons 11-5, Saints 10-6, Buccaneers 8-8, Panthers 3-13
NFC West: Cardinals 10-6, Rams 8-8, 49ers 6-10, Seahawks 4-12
Wild Card Round: Eagles defeat Cowboys, Saints defeat Cardinals
Divisional Playoffs: Packers defeat Saints, Falcons defeat Eagles
NFC Championship: Packers defeat Falcons

AFC East: Patriots 12-4, Jets 10-6, Dolphins 7-9, Bills 4-12
AFC North: Steelers 11-5, Ravens 10-6, Browns 7-9, Bengals 3-13
AFC South: Texans 10-6, Colts 9-7, Titans 7-9, Jaguars 5-11
AFC West: Chargers 12-4, Chiefs 8-8, Broncos 7-9, Raiders 6-10
Wild Card Round: Steelers defeat Ravens, Texans defeat Jets
Divisional Playoffs: Patriots defeat Texans, Chargers defeat Steelers
AFC Championship: Patriots defeat Chargers

Super Bowl XLVI: Patriots defeat Packers

NFL MVP: Philip Rivers, Chargers
Offensive POY: Adrian Peterson, Vikings
Defensive POY: Clay Matthews, Packers
Offensive ROY: Julio Jones, Falcons
Defensive ROY: Patrick Peterson, Cardinals
Comeback POY: Tony Romo, Cowboys
Coach of Year: Ken Whisenhunt, Cardinals

Peter King picked the Falcons to win the Super Bowl, don't know if I should be nervous or excited. He did correctly pick the Super Bowl participants last year, but not the outcome. We filled a couple of significant holes on offense and defense from a team that wasn't far off last year - so here's hoping.

Several reports coming out of Indy tonight that Manning has had a 3rd surg!cal procedure on his neck and will miss the entire season.

Schefter says Colts' official line is "it's a rumour we can't confirm" which sounds pretty ominous.

Quoting myself for smugness. Colts are beyond screwed if he's out. Definition of a one man team

Nah, they have some good talent on that team but Peyton is worth 4-6 wins alone. If he misses the season, they'll struggle to win six games IMO. Collins is better than the likes of Beck and Grossman in Washington, McCown in Jacksonville and Jackson in Seattle for example. I'd say 6-8 wins is most likely, assuming the likes of Clark, Wayne, Sanders, Freeney, etc. remain healthy.

The Chargers, Texans and Rams are the teams I am going to try and concentrate on outside of the AFC East this year. I agree with MrMarcello and can see Rivers lighting it up, if Norv and their special teams don’t manage to mess it up he should be in the mix for the end of year awards. He’s an excellent passer even though his mechanics look dodgy when comparing him to the likes of Brady, it looks like he pushes the ball from his elbow. He also seems to make more difficult intermediate, to long throws than most other QB’s due to the system they use and the type of receivers they have. I’m falling into the Texans pre-season trap once again too, with the situation the Colts find themselves in, its their big opportunity.

I think the Falcons were a good team last year and had good long scoring drives picking up chunks of yardage. However, these greatest show on turf expectations (media created) seem a bit premature. I am sure Julio Jones is a great talent and they gave up enough for him but the expectations are huge, he could take a little while to settle. I hope it happens immediately though and they have that explosive play ability to stay in a shootout with the likes of the Packers. Didn’t see much of them in the pre-season either. What moves were made defensively except Ray Edwards?

Julio Jones coming in, Harry Douglas looking like he's finally recovered from his blown ACL and the addition of Jacquizz Rodgers should all go a long way to making the offense more explosive. All three of them look like they could score out of nothing. That said, the offense didn't need a whole lot of fixing, just a player like Julio to open up the rest of the playbook.

Defensively, we added Kelvin Hayden and James Sanders in the secondary in addition to Edwards, but he's the key pick-up. We got no pressure off the right side all last season and adding a legitimate threat opposite John Abraham will do wonders for both our pass rush and secondary. We gave up loads of plays last year just because we were giving QBs all day in the pocket. Sanders and Hayden are both quality additions to a secondary that wasn't very deep last season. Mike Peterson will probably also be phased out as well, which can only be a good thing on the field since his legs have left him and he started giving up some big plays late in the year.

Of course, I forgot that’s where Sanders had gone for some reason. He’s nothing spectacular but is smart and a solid tackler who will be in the correct position. I was surprised the Patriots let him go, even more so when Meriweather was let go afterwards. Came down to money, I suppose.

Both were salary cap casualties as far as I can tell (though Hayden has struggled with injuries the past 2 years). Thomas Dimitroff will know Sanders well - he was the Director of Scouting when the Pats drafted him.

Aaron Godgers is awesome. Nice to see Packers starting so well on both attack and defence.

It is. But much like last year, wont matter as much as having momentum going into the last few weeks of the regular season (which is what Packers had)
