Nfl 2008-2009

My "Impossible to go Wrong" Prediction.......

My Bills will be a bit shit and not contend for a playoff spot.... :annoyed:

The Bills are the second best in the AFC East in my opinion, could see them maybe sneaking in the playoffs.

Played well at times last year with Edwards and Lynch plus points and ran the Cowboys close etc.

I just love the awesomeness of the league system, where they have their own little groups and then sort of cherry-pick a couple of other teams on the far side of the country. Then they all play-off. It's great. The transfer system appears to be crazy, too, and the college draft :D

Quick question: Unlike other American sports leagues (hockey, baseball), there arn't any sneaky Canadian teams in an American league in Am. Football are there? Because Canada has its own version of football.

its a good sport to watch or play though not as good as real football
if you like rugby you will probably like american football

See, i dont like to watch rugby - but I love American Football.

Agree Duckula with the League system - imagine a similar set up with proper football - United, City, Liverpool and Newcastle in a mini league..

No im not saying we should convert - just putting it out there as an idea!

American football is a great sport, probably was my first true sporting love. The college game is becoming a lot more like the pro game, but I have to say I really enjoyed it in the late 80s and 90s when there was more of the option and crazy formations like the wishbone. The quality of NFL is absolutely unreal as well, those players are out of this world. It's cool because their are so many different types of players in football as well.

In terms of a spectator sport, it is unreal, and the networks love it because they can run through so many commercials. Nothing better than relaxing on a nice fall day and watching football. I have to say that football stadiums over here are incredible as well. I have been to hundreds of sporting events across the country, and I have to say that the best atmosphere I have experienced was the Old Mile High Stadium, which was made of steel and would literally shake, that and the altitude are part of the reasons why the Broncos have the best home field record of any team in NFL history

I reckon the Patriots will be scary again, as will the Steelers and Cowboys. What do I want to see for a Super Bowl, easy the Broncos beat the Cowboys, a little revenge for 77'. That said the Broncs probably wont even make the playoffs. So right now I would put my money on it being the Pats and Boys, although I would rather see the Steelers and Boys in a classic rematch

Agreed, it is a great sport once you get into it and I think the reason many people over here are put off by it is the stop and start nature of the play. Living in England my love of it is obviously quite strange but is because of some family links to the game which led me to become interested from an early age. Though, I suppose you understand that being a Manchester United fan and all. Hope to at least get to a few games in America in my lifetime although I will be present again when the Chargers play the Saints at Wembley. Im just hoping the grass holds up this time!

I think the Pats and Cowboys will be good again, not so confident about the Steelers though with that offensive line and parts of the secondary. Will also see a more controlled offense by the Pats this year I think, with more balance with the running game especially with how things ended last year. Welker and Moss will still get their catches of course but I can see Maroney having a break out season supported by Morris and now Jordan.

Try to get to a big college game to like Michigan-Ohio St, Texas-Oklahoma, or just about any SEC game too, the atmosphere at those is unreal in addition to NFL games. Plus the pussy available at those is nothing short of premium. I've been to some college games in Boulder and Austin and they were awesome, total party atmosphere, probably will get some tixs to some USC games this year

Enjoy watching my Saints mercilessly rape the Chargers. The only bad thing about the game being played at Wembly is that it counts as a home game for the Saints. Therefore, as a season-ticket holder, I have been cheated out of a game

 So true. When I go tailgating at LSU games, pussy is present in great quantity and quality. Those girls are fecking hot, and beer is everywhere.

That's horseshit, did they change your rate and pro rated over 7 games and how many preseason home games there are. The only real current gripe I have with the NFL is that there is no team in Los Angeles, which is mainly Los Angeles' fault becasue they wont build a new stadium, hell they could have two team there, they used to

I'm not sure if they changed the rate, but I think they did. My parents paid to renew our season tickets; I'm not sure how much the tickets were this year compared to last year. Regardless, Saints v. Chargers will be a great matchup, and I would have loved to see it in person. As you said LA doesn't seem to want a team. The NFL, the dirty feckers, was on the verge of offering you the Saints.

I will, I would have been very annoyed with that if I was you, especially when its all about marketing opportunities deep down.

Anyone else going to Chargers Vs Saints and Wembley this year? I got my ticket!

Well Favre saw his first real action with the Jets. 5/6 for 48 yards and 1 TD against the Skins.

My Giants are playing on Monday.

Anyone know if the pre season games are on justin.tv or sopcast tonight?

Patriots if possible :)

The big kick off tonight, I hope the Giants get beat... badly.

The whole opening ceremony and concert seems unnecessary though, not a great line up either.

I'll be going. My mate and I are Pats (him) and Cowboys fans, but decided since we both support the Saints in rugby we will adopt the Saints for the day.

We are also having a banner made "Go f*** yourself San Diego - Ron Burgundy"

I would love to but if I went to that I'd have little weight to my argument regarding any Premier League games going abroad, therefore I'll never watch an NFL game in this country. I'll get to go to a game in the states in a few years though.

I've only started getting into it in the last few years. Like many brits I was put off by the complexity of the game and the stop/start nature of it but now I love it. When you get to appreciate the tactics behind it and the pyhsicality of the game, it's such a great spectical. The atmosphere looks amazing on TV too, they really know how to put on a show. Really excited for this season. Usual suspects will be there or there abouts, Pats, Colts, Cowboys, Giants, Chargers. I think the Jets will do well this year and the Panthers have looked good from what I've seen of pre-season.

Anyone watch the game last night? Giants really impressive for the first half but seemed to ease up in the second. Really impressive defence again even with their losses, Campbell had barely any time to think in the first half. They'll be difficult to beat again. Redskins look a bit rusty, not an easy first game though.

Yeah, I watched, it was a decent performance by the Giants maybe should have put more points on the board. They ran straight at an unhealthy Taylor for long periods and just overpowered them, Landry was made into highlight reel material by Jacobs thats for sure.

The Redskins have a long way to go it seems both as a team and coaching wise. There was some terrible play calling during that game running short pass plays when they needed more for example. Their final last chance drive was a joke.

I love Justin.tv. Covers up for Sky Sports lack of games.

Ill be watching the patriots, hopefully going back to another superbowl. Anyone else watching todays games?

feck the Patriots, seriously. Of I am, I am American

Well looks like your wish is coming true. Brady down and out after 7 minutes, left knee looks like.

On the same play Moss catches and fumbles. Great start to the season.
