I've been impressed by RG3 and the redskins in general. Luck's done ok despite throwing a couple of picks, come up against a very good defense.

Very good win for Atlanta, 1 game going to OT.

Good start to the season for the Pats. Brady efficient, TE's and Lloyd effective, Ridley impressive and D looked solid and aggressive.

Holy shit! Talk about getting out of jail free!

Calvin came up big on the last drive, Kevin Smith was really good too...

Not the start I think the Lions would have liked, but its a win none the less

Decent game for Blaine Gabbert today, in defeat.

Looked jumpy last year and was not really put in a position to succeed.

Let’s see if he can do it against a better defense and consistent pressure.

TD... Randy Moss!!

San Fran's offense looking efficient like last season.

Davis' dunk attempt

Niners impressive so far.

Packers suffering from what everybody knew from last season. Defence gives up too many yards and letting the opposition run through quite easily on the other side of Clay. Last season they got away with it for most of the season as they didnt give up many big plays in the redzone.

But on top of that, offence is mainly a passing game. Packers have no running game at all and 49ers defence has been fantastic as it was last season.

Wow - just as the momentum had swung in the Packer's favour...Rodgers throws up a gift.

So Rodgers has 3:37 to go 84 yards...

Brilliant defense, 49ers win it.

Very impressive performance by the Niners. GB were poor but will be better in the coming weeks, especially the offense which struggled against this D.

I was wondering if people would be interested in playing the fantasy football league on Yahoo even though week 1 is already over. I already have three people waiting so I was hoping I could find another 7 to play. Anyone down?

The refs in the Arizona game are confused about whether Seattle has any timeouts left. Fantastic.

The explanation was useless.

They Refs have done a decent job in the action I have watched today. It was the commentators that I found irritating… looking for issues that weren’t there, or complaining at the time delay on calls/throwing the flag when there was not a significant difference from last year. I hope that when the proper officials come back, they are scrutinised when it comes to these small details and held to the same standard.

Not sure what happened in the arizona game, only caught the last part of all that confusion but overall I thought the refs were good. One issue I had was that they let a lot of pass interference/holding calls go without throwing the flag but would then make the same calls for the slightest contact. A bit of inconsistency but generally they were better than I expected.

Good to see C4 have Mike Carlson back again. He is my favourite analyst from the UK broadcasters, much better than the lot on Sky. Hopefully BBC use him as well on the MNF coverage.

In the games I watched the non-union refs were not any worse then the regular ones except in trying to explain things. But as long as they get the call right who cares if they can actually sound intelligent explaining it.

Local pundit was complaining about the officials earlier this week on a local talk radio show, he brought out some calls they blew during preseason including a coin flip. He was all full of bluster until the caller came in and reminded him of the couple of times the regular refs screwed up the coin toss, lol.

Bills.....lol.......Fitzpatrick was awful until the game was out of reach.

Dolphins actually did better then I expected, even though they lost, they lost by a lot less then I thought they would.

Here's a Davis gif.

Extremely solid game by the Niners. The most important thing is that for the most part everyone looked comfortable out there, especially Alex Smith, who seemed to be in control the whole way through. They did what they needed to do and for the most part it looked like they weren't completely surprised by what was happening. Execution wasn't perfect, but it won't be against a good team like the Packers.

We just beat most experts pick for the Superbowl in the packers. The defense still looks awesome. anything can happen in the playoffs but i think with this team we should get at least one superbowl in the next 5 years.

I would be down for that.

Not the smoothest of spikes from The Gronk yesterday

Agree - thought we looked very good. Seems like our D has picked up where it left off last year. Was v encouraging to see Smith look so in control, and great that we got more production from our wideouts.

I think this was a very tough game to have opened with. Fantastic result and something we can build on.

Akers monstrous field goal kick. The Packers player jumped and appeared he attempted to block it - if he made contact is that legal?

I know they can block at/behind the line of scrimmage and can return a field goal that comes down in the field of play (before it hits the ground).

There is a free Game Pass trial at the moment, if anyone wants to give it a go.

Just watched the Miami game, JJ Watt is a problem.

There's nothing different between hitting the ball as it comes down and catching it to return it.

Week 1 power rankings:

1. Chicago bears

all down hill from here!
