PSG have opened now the gates for more top players, think people wont be asking'why would he go to PSG?'as much

They have a decent shot at the CL now, besides money and Paris

I wonder why Spanish teams always stick release clauses in contracts, it seems more of a thing there than over here.

Woah, it's actually happening

Crazy to think with all the talk about Mbappe's price that it won't even be a record fee by the time it happens!

Will be interesting to see how he does there esp in the CL, i always thought he was a bit over rated, good player though.

This will have a massive domino effect....I would expect 10-12 other transfers to go thorough in next 5-7 days as the ripples from this spread across Europe.

Then there will be a huge amount of speculation and re-negotiation of contracts across all teams with Ronaldo style release clauses being set.

As others have said....we have just crossed some sort of Rubicon with this transfer!

I think they have to, its a rule over there.

Hopefully this trance that the Spanish big 2 have over us starts to fade.
People ridiculed this move asking why would he move when he can wait 2/3 years and become the face of Barca. The fact people saw this as the obvious choice was staggering to me.
The same goes for any top player that comes along. Fans saying they would be happy for another season of DDG before selling him, how Martial would end up moving there in his mid twenties. Feck posters are treating Dembele as if he's a Barca player already.
Madrid losing out on targets, Barca being raided for a world class player..hopefully the tide is turning.

Just proves all players have a price even if its as extortionate as this. Mourinho when questioned weeks back was asked about neymar and his reply was hel never leave. Makes me jealous that we werent in for him

How the feck can PSG pay 220M and still comply with the fair play rules? Surely they're going to operate at a massive loss for the next 3 seasons?

Fantastic to see Barca losing one of their star player at his peak.

It's a buyout clause and it's mandatory. It concerns workers freedom to change employers/jobs.

Pretty sure they'll just sell Verrati to Barca for £100 million and it will be alright...

They'll generate atleast 100m Euros from sales. Aurier and Di Maria will alone bring 70m Euros or more.

It's a hammer blow for La Liga no doubt. Could even make someone like Mbappe think twice.

They have money, and some dodgy sponsorship deals. They will also sell some players. I dont think they will have problems at all

After years of taking away the best players from English league, it feels nice to see a Spanish giant getting their best players taken away. It's a win-win for us too. They'll now look to sign Coutinho from Liverpool.

Interesting but I have mixed feelings about it. As you say its great to see one of top 2 Spanish teams lose a player in their prime, unprecedented in recent times really, this alone could have ripple effects for major transfers to come not only for weakening our domestic rivals this summer but more for turning players heads away from Spain in the future. This also though will have a negative effect for us as I think it pushes us down the pecking order for the elite players behind PSG (if we weren't already but this just confirms it) making it more difficult to get the top shelf players going forward. I am glad to see it though just to wipe the smug look off Barcas face for a while.

Good. I hope teams now tap up Real's players too like how they've done to every other team. Go on PSG, assert your dominance.

Doubt it, They put unreachable clauses like 500 m or more, Perez will even learn from this transfer.

Could be the case, but if they sell them they still need to replace them. Unless they promote some academy players (they never do) or buy some unknowns for cheap they still will have to spend more money. It looks like they are taking a step forward and then 2 steps back.

Didn't you hear? They've just this morning come into a lucrative sponsorship deal with a Qatar based company in no way affiliated with their owner. It's a huge stroke of luck when you think about it.

How exciting, nice to just be able to look on to one of these massive deals knowing it's not us having a player taken.
That's 8 years ago. We also signed Pogba in a massive deal 1 year ago. Just saying :)

They've only signed one player so far for about £13.6million and sold two for a combined £14.45million. Teams like Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and ourselves seem to be able to spend in the £150-200million in a season. PSG will probably have to sell some players, but looking at it so far it doesn't seem to be that different from other 'sugar daddy' or 'rich' clubs. It's just that they've spunked it on one player - maybe they feel he's all they really need right now? They haven't lost anyone and will likely walk to their League Title again with Monaco's team torn apart. Neymar could be the one to get them challenging further in Europe.

Until this morning I didn't really believe this deal was actually happening. €220m, bloody hell.

Edit just seen above that La Liga will refuse PSG's money because they believe it violates FFP... This could get ugly.

Is it wrong of me to say I honestly don't care about this transfer? I've just checked twitter and 90 per cent of people seem shocked or outraged. As I'm not a PSG or Barca fan I'm not that bothered. The 'story' here seems to amount to PSG is owned by rich people who spend a massive amount on footballers. Is that new? Surely this is just the next step of something that has been going on since TV money became a big thing back in the 90s?

Neymar can join PSG because he's already a star. Someone like Antoine would just disappear imo.
Plus whoever joins PSG has the same problem as Neymar had under Messi.
Honestly, imaging their owners had bought an English club instead. We'd all be fecked.

Would be illogical to lose Verratti after signing Neymar. They have a CL winning base now with this signing - I expect more big signings from PSG.

Crazy.

They need investment all over the pitch this money will help provide that while getting a huge wage off the books, it's a good deal for Barce.

I cant help but feel justice is getting served though, I hate their constant talking in the press about other teams players, it started with Verratti this summer and they are even doing it now with Coutinho. PSG taking one of their superstar players made them shit their pants.

This wont be a one off either, other teams can vastly outspend the spanish teams now I can see many top tier players leaving Spain.

La Liga are too salty. Why the feck would they care about FFP, it's on UEFA. Hopefully Neymar takes everyone to cleaners.

English club purchase would take way more investment than they put in to buy psg.

They don't need to replace them, that's PSG's deadwood.
