Soft midfield has nothing to do with our problems. All this nonsense of "A fast CB will fix our problems", "A RW will free up AWB" and other bs needs to stop. The manager is incapable of setting up a team with a system. The players are literally clueless for 89 minutes out of 90.
The only thing the team is well drilled in doing on that pitch is taking the knee before the game. Freestyle FC after that.

We could also go for someone like Marco Rose or Gasperini. Definitely tactically astute managers but I don’t know about any other aspects of their styles.

Personally IF Ole is gone by the years end. I'd bring in the Ajax manager Ten Hag, attractive football, great at bringing through youth and proven at the very highest level. (Being the UCL). I don't think a short term, big name will payoff we've gone down that path before.

With Ronaldo back at the club you have to wonder if ole was let go and we put a caretaker manager in charge would fergie come back with the romanticism of one last time managing ronaldo as we know he absolutely adores him like probably no other player that he has managed?

Whoever we get, just make sure it's a 2 year deal and they can bring in their own people.

Carrick and McKenna should also be told they are surplus to requirements. No more sentimental bollocks.

I don’t see how any of the above managers would win a title with the current squad. The problems were having in midfield require a DM.
I don’t think it’s a case of having to win the league with this squad. It’s a case of getti BNF them to play as a team. Fighting for points and winning games under a clear style of play. If that happens the squad might be good enough to win a trophy or two.
Under Ole we have neither fight, attacking intent, style of play or the ability to win games it seems.

I'd lean towards Conte. But our current squad doesn't fit him very well. He doesn't play with wingers and we have quite a few of them - and they are actually the most positive about our current lot. Rashford and Greenwood can play as forwards but we'd sacrifice Sancho hiring Conte. Has Conte ever played a system with wingers?

Zidane could probably do some solid stuff with the team but I just don't see him managing in the Premier League. At all.

I can't really stomach the idea of another manager who is a project. We need somebody to win here and now, and we should have the team for it with the possible exception of the midfield.

I had some reservations about Conte, but I am warming to the idea. Realistically it has to be him or Zidane and I don't know whether Zidane would fancy it.

Somebody who can get you playing cohesive football would be a start. Somebody who can produce a successful team that plays attractive football. Somebody who is his own man.

I'm fine with anyone for the rest of the season.

If there is no one we are sold on then just get a caretaker who has good tactics and in game management.

Well Ole wouldn't and is doing worse than the squad is capable of so we need someone new even if it's just to bide time till someone we want long term becomes available

Obvious but I think bad move choices:
Zidane
Conte

Safe bet and would be a good appointment:
Rodgers
Ten Hag

Risky punts but I think are good managers:
Graham Potter
Christope Galiter

I would probably try to pay whatever it takes to get Hansi Flick. He knows how to make great individuals to play like a fantastic unit.
I don't know if he would see the "Getting a former Giant back to its feet" as enough of a project for him to leave the national team though. Especially right before a world cup. Sadly I doubt it. But he would be the perfect fit.

Flick would be great. However, the National team job he could realistically be looking at being in that job for 15 years Like Loew was. I doubt there's any club management that can tempt him out of that. He's already proven and won what he needs to at club level

Also Arno Slot, did a great job at AZ and is now doing well at Feyenoord. Not sure that Ten Haag would be a good fit in the PL, Slot is more aggressive

The lack of a decent or obvious option could well keep Ole his job.

If that is the case, get a new number 2. Ole does delegate the coaching and training to others, and it's not working.

Move Carrick and McKenna on, and bring in a new backroom regime. Instigate a playing style.

A lot of the comments since the game yesterday has been about the players lack lustre attitude. I could imagine Roy Keane as a number 2, tearing into them for a performance like that. I don't think any of these 400k per week players have had a bollocking in years.

I'd talk to Betis about releasing Pellegrini. City played good football under him and he doesn't have this relentless philosophy that would require major changes. This team is ready to win now.

We need to get it right next time before Newcastle become the next big thing. Turning into a regular Europa League condender will be extremely depressive

we are a regular Europa League contender - its 10 years since any sort of Champions League impact.
United are a 2nd rate team and no other team fears playing United anymore.

Ten Hag or Rogers for me. Both play great football and have CL experience. I think Zidane would be great at managing the big names in the squad but not sure if he would come in at this point.

I just want us to get someone who has the CV to back up his appointment, a winner.

I bumped into this video on Twitter, and everything she said is becoming a reality, lets avoid making the same mistakes again.

He is 80, has been inactive for 8+ years and didn't coach also before that for many years. The entire structure that supported him is gone, as are all the players except De Gea, Jones ( ), and Ronaldo. Even bringing the coaches back, it will take a lot of time.

In other words, it would be a total disaster and there is absolutely no need for that.

I'd really like Lucien Favre, although it isn't exactly a realistic option i guess.
Would just be fun to see what he can bring out of the youngsters, he's a good man-manager that also can handle the more difficult players.
Don't know if he's ready for that big of a club but I'd like to see it.

and after. Which is my point. Times are different.
Your point is that you wouldn't accept a 'Liverpool man' but state that Law is a United legend. Seems a bit contradictory.

Who cares if he managed Liverpool for a few years, it's pretty irrelevant. It's not like he's Liverpool through and through.

Gerrard robbed him of a title win to be fair.

Lack of balance, a recurrig theme with Rodgers, robbed them. They conceded 50 goals that season.

Suarez and lack of competition almost gifted them. They ended up with 84 points. There was a period after Ferguson quit where the best teams in the PL where not really that good. That Liverpool team in 14 coming that close, the Mourinho side in 15 and Leicester in 16 are good examples.

When Suarez left he made so many poor calls, and it became very apparant how important Suarez had been. I also think Klopp «proved» the difference between an average coach and a very good one.

Even Benitez and Houllier also managed to come second with Liverpool, but they had to compete against Ferguson. Benitez actually took 86 points with Liverpool in ‘09.

Rodgers is a nightmare scenario, and would be another huge mistake.
