I can understand the votes, it's that anyone is so sure they are right about a manager they barely know anything about.
AVB's a cool rally driver tho! I'm admittedly an ETH voter based on his apparent record of applying a coherent system which I think has been lacking. And I'm not against Poch as such, just think he might be a bit jaded after the last few years because this place is going to challenge any decent manager.

What we don't know is the scope of this manager role. Which functions are carried out by whom and where shared, who with and to what extent (%)?

And what are the parameters for deciding success or failure?

Although I have been accused of being a 49 yo hipster from my hair and attire :)

That’s funny cos the more the Caf crazies and Twitter idiots go on about Ten Hag and talk about Poch like he’s the worst manager on the planet the more I feel myself beginning to warm to the idea of the latter.

Yes that's exactly how I feel. The worst part is you know they are bluffing as well that they know anything about Ten Hag yet will constantly criticise Poch for not being better than City and Liverpool while managing Spurs:confused:

That is a better/fairer statistic than the other one which counted Pochettino's time at Espanyol.

Out of interest what's Ferguson's combined record v Mourinho and Guardiola? Can you get that?
Its not really any different, Pochettino's other games vs Pep is a record of 2 wins, 3 draws and 7 losses... So 1 additional draw and 1 additional loss. Pretty much the same.

Sir Alex vs Pep is pointless as it was just 2 CL finals vs the greatest team ever.

Sir Alex had 3 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats vs Mourinho. He did however win a league title while Mourinho was in the prem (and likely would've still won the 2nd in 07/08 had Mourinho not been sacked anyway).

Also important to note when a manager faces another manager. Pochettino's Spurs time is a team with their peak level fully coinciding with that manager, from start to finish of that "team". It wasn't early rebuild (United when Mourinho took over) or end of peak/transition to rebuild time (United at the end of Sir Alex's time). It was their peak years, so basically equivalent to if you looked at United's record from 06/07 - 08/09. Pochettino faced Liverpool during the start of Klopps rebuild and their peak. Same with City, albeit admittedly City do quick rebuilds so not quite as fair.

Good points.

You've ignored the part where I mentioned that Spurs were in the top three for three of the seasons in the league overall for goals scored during that time. Was that due to other clubs misfiring as well?
  • 14/15 - 1.58 goals per game, 1.38 xG per game
  • 15/16 - 1.82 goals per game, 1.67 xGpg
  • 16/17 - 2.26 gpg, 1.84 xGpg
  • 17/ 18 - 1.95 gpg, 1.81 xGpg
  • 18/19 - 1.76 gpg, 1.64 xGpg
Average - 1.87 gpg, 1.67 xGpg.
That's pretty much the same average xG level that United was at for the past 5 years. Only difference is they had a peak Kane throughout it. They significantly overperformed their xG in 16/17, their only year in which they surpassed 2 goals per game. Pochettino isn't really an attacking manager.

A couple others reporting this. Wonder if the club has decided to just announce it to calm fans down instead of keeping it quiet until Ajax won the league as likely originally planned. Wouldn't be shocked if there's an announcement imminent in the next few days.

Doesn't it concern people that Poch, by all accounts, is the manager these players would prefer to player under though ?
Yes, it does for me. I wasn't aware of this before and some posters gave me some interesting thoughts.

Given how poor the decision making seems to be among the players and the pundits, it does seem like a red flag.

I hope the appointers weight the 'references' correctly. Ex managers & owners first, then players managed by him and finally if at all, the opinions of players to be managed by the new guy.

It's unusual for shop floor staff to have a say in appointing CEOs. Apple wouldn't ask even very creative and well paid executives more than 1 rung away from the 'C-Suite' about a new CEO.

Be bizarre if Anchelotti walks in the door now after being revealed as the mysterious third interviewee.

Who wanted Poch then?

Who are involved in this decision beside Joel Glazers and Anold? Murtough, Fletcher, who else?
Presumably Fletcher and Murtough wanted Pochettino, otherwise I think they'd have mentioned that they were in favour of ten Hag too.

Not since breaking the Fergie retirement story. If this is true others will have it shortly too.
To be fair he was pretty much a club mouthpiece during Moyes's campaign too, but seems to have lost his source under LvG.

Woah shit is getting real when it's on ESPN dot com. I know it's still rumors, but this is another level closer.

Hopefully Stephen A Smith will report it.

"They interviewed him 22 times when he is clearly a football savant, this brother(Pochettino) has been bamboozled, hoodwinked, ran amok, led astray by Manchester United. They instead picked a project, a dude that may or may not be ready!"

Unreal news if it's true.

Least we can all agree with him as manager their will be no stone unturned, and we will be prepared for every match.

High standards ahead, also needs time to mould his own team, but very exciting times, most exciting since Fergie retired..........that's if it's true

“Still feel like they’re going to go for Poch” crowd coming in 12 hours when we’ve not announced ETH.

Just checked in on Raza. He says it’s a done deal. He’s also asking for people to design him a new logo

Reliable or not, an international media organization wouldn’t stake its reputation on a report as hot as this without proper sourcing.

none of the above... Diego Simeone would be a dream
The bloke who doesnt like attacking plays 5-5-0 and doesnt even have a shot off target last night? Noooo he would be a boring nightmare
