No doubt (I hope anyway) Rogers is only mentioned as a last resort if we can't bring in a preferred target. Possibly our David Moyes if you believe rumours of SAF asking Carlo, Jose and Pep first.

It would be hilarious if we brought back Moyes.

I highly doubt the tweet about Ronaldo is true. The players already know Ralf is just an interim. Don’t believe everything you read.
Plus RR has been playing him in every game bar one. If Ronaldo was in DVB's shoes, it would have been made more sense with that twitter. The so called leaks were supposed to be coming from players who felt they didn't have enough chance and people here assumed that it means Ronaldo being favored and playing more than he should. But somehow Ronaldo didn't want that type of treatment if true and he wanted to risk ruining his relationship with the coaching staff. His PR people would not allow that even if he wanted to.

He might not like what is going on around this whole thing atm. He didn't have to say anything. He could just fecked off at the end of the season himself.

I hope it's just laziness from the press, same as I hope with those disgusting Southgate links.

If Murtough, Fletcher, Rangnick, whoever, thinks Rodgers is a solid option for us then I'd want them all sacked tomorrow.

I would just ignore the nonsense from media outlets unless it’s coming from someone credible like Stone or Ducker. I’d also ignore the nonsense being spewed on the cafe including the strange affinity by a small group to blame our current problems on Sir Alex. Toxic up and down, and a platform for various idiots to scream their nonsensical views. Just hope Rangnick can help give the club some long term direction and a managerial appointment that could make us a proper footballing force again.

Ten Hag feels like the only option out there who could become as influential in the Premier League as Guardiola or Klopp.

Most wanted them when they were available and the Club went in stupid directions. Hope they don’t make the same mistake with Ten Hag (spoiler: obviously they will)

Agreed. Ten Hag is also the ideal "project" kinda manager.

A modern coach that plays fast expansive football, who always aims to impose his style of football on the opposition and has a proven track record of promoting youth and improving players to perform above their expectations. A guy that both the club and the fans should be willing to give patience and immense support to while he crafts us into a team that plays his kind of football.

In truth, I'll be really disappointed if anyone else gets hired. I think Ten Hag is the absolute perfect man for this job.

They need bloody micro coaching but shock horror didn't want someone prepared to be at them constantly on the touchline.

Seems like we have a right bunch of shirkers playing (use that term loosely) for this club right now

Andy on the united stand said its reported in France that Pocc is already done and will be here in the summer.

As much as I want Ten Hag, I don't see him coming here. He is the most sought after manager in Europe right now and Ajax are playing very well. He isn't getting picked. He is doing the picking. He can take his time and wait for a good opportunity. Let's be honest, this club isn't really that. Apart from us being a royal mess and needing a rebuild that could take years, the media also jump on you like rabid dogs if you don't have a 100% win rate straight out of the door. Look at Rangnick - he has been here for month and is already getting torn to shreds. Why deal with that when you can just... not?

All of this is speculative, as I obviously don't drink my coffee on a daily basis with the guy, but it's reasonable. His career is on a meteoric rise and we are the biggest risk out there.

We will probably end up with Pochettino, which will be pretty disappointing and see us dabble in "almost good enough" for years. And my biggest worry is City ending up with Haaland + Ten Hag eventually. Nobody else is winning anything if this happens.

Yeah fear he will wait for City job instead and the thought of him managing them with Haaland too is gut wrenching to say the least

ETH is coming if we offer the job end of the season. He isn't going to wait one more year for the City job. Yes, things would be different if Pep leaves at the end of the season.

Yeah very good point
It's actually a mute point. If you are managing a club like United or Barca or Juve the media spotlight is going to be huge. It works both ways. No one cares about City and what they win.

If he can't handle the pressure, he isn't made for a top club.

Ten Hag might be looking at the media treatment of Rangnick (Who is only an INTERIM manager) and having second thoughts on coming here.
I think there's alot more reasons for him not joining he'd take into consideration ,to be fair.

We're a mess.

What are you on about?
He'll jump at the chance to come here. His recent comments on being ready for a big move is basically a come and get me for United.

Like trying to put out a mansion on fire with only a single bucket of water, that's Ten Hag's ,or anyone's job, regarding managing this United.

Oh yeah, bet he can't wait to jump at chance managing this mess.

In isolation if we offer ETH the job for next season then I'd be amazed if he turned it down.

However, there's also the possibility of a club like City approaching him at the same time to replace Guardiola next summer. At that point he was to weigh the pros and cons of both offers. And I've seen some people suggest we should have offered ETH a take-it-or-leave-it offer to join us now or we'd hire someone else. And he's definitely good enough to turn us down if we approach him with that degree of arrogance, as if we're doing him a favour by offering him the job.

As it stands though if you were betting on who his next club would be we're bound to be favourites, simply because we're the ones with the obvious and immediate vacancy for someone like ETH.

how do you know that? He seems happy at Ajax

If Hag had the choice of managing United next year or being a certainty to manage City in a years time then, I feel dirty for saying this, I think he'll be a abit mad to turn down the City job.

They've just got their sh*t together and another year managing Ajax, or maybe taking a year break, isn't the worst thing in the world.

That's only really relevant if he has assurances that he would get the City job in a year's time, he's not going to turn down United for the potential to be in the running for the City job. Although the club is in a bad way at the moment it's still a huge draw for people, in fact I suspect with the confidence and ego's that most top managers have there's a huge appeal in potentially being the man to get things right at United. It's a weird club in that despite having 20 league titles we've only ever won the league under 3 managers while City's first 5 titles all came with different managers, to join such a short list will still have appeal if the manager believes that they are capable.

We now think of Liverpool as being really well run but before Klopp turned up they were the club that sold Luis Suarez and replaced him with Balotelli, Lambert and Benteke as well as selling the best young English player to City. With the changes that are slowly being made behind the scenes if we get the right man then that will give us a chance to finally move in the right direction and actually give people above the manager the time to sort things out rather than constantly having to react to issues.

Cementing our standards of recent years. Never gonna bring us back to where we want to be. ETH is the most obvious option in my opinion, but will most likely replace Pep

I agree. Makes perfect sense. Can even see Pep stepping down a year early if they win the CL this year. Peps brother work in the agency representing him too, right?

If ETH is our target, we should get him as soon as Ajax get knocked out of the CL. Even then it would probably prove to be very, very difficult. That being said, if he did have success at Man Utd that would be something else than having it at City.

yup, once this appointment is confirmed we are officially Liverpool of 00s. I am so sorry for laughing at them during those years.

You sound like Woodward telling Jurgen Klopp that Old Trafford is like Disneyland.

I think ETH might come her if he sees that RR has prepared the way and done some of the heavy lifting already. That means turning us into a high press club and removing the players who don't adapt. That process is underway but it's clearly going to be messier than the optimists had thought. I think it might even be messier than anyone thought.

Ronaldo will be very Messi.

ETH wants germany as his next move so thats a problem. I think it will be Poch.

Jesus Christ, so much drama and over reaction. You would think that we are relegation candidates by the way some of you go around about ETH snubbing us.

Yeah, we're in a bit of turmoil, but that is down to the fact that Ragnick is an interim who has no experience coaching big egos. A good competent manager backed by a decent board(which RR is going to be part of) can turn things around.

Also this notion that ETH will wait a year for City is also a bit far fetched. A lot of things change in football quiet quickly. There are absolutely no guarantees in football. It's not like clubs make a decision only to change it at the last minute. Just look at Milan last year. They appointed RR as their coach, only to change their mind at the last moment.

There are no promisses and pinky swears in business, and football is a business. It's usually a first come first serve bassis. And ETH will be quiet daft to walk away from the United job if it's available.

Yeah, ETH is going to turn down the chance to manage Manchester United to manage Eintracht Frankfurt or Borussia Monchengladbach. If you think that Bayern and Dortmund will sack Naglessman and Rose just 1 year into their stint, that I don't know what to tell you.

Which world class manager would want to come to our snake pit unless he gets the authority to clear out the snakes ?

Anyway, so far especially Rose has not been totally convincing, so I would not laugh at the thought of replacing him soon if he does not turn that around.

Ten Haag in as manager, Van der Saar in as D.O.F, all unhappy players out the door even if that’s a dozen of them, and the youth prospects on the vicinity promoted to the 1st XI squad. Total cultural reset. Short term pain for long term gain.

*sigh*

Discussed over and over, but again: Why would you want VDS as DOF, when he never worked as DOF? If you want Ajax DOF you have to sign Overmars, as VDS is their CEO.

I really don’t think it’s as bad as is made out.
A few of the ’unhappy’ players are likely out come next season anyways i.e Pogba, Martial and Lingard. If Ten Hag gets the job DvB will probably have a new lease on life aswell.
As long as we’re getting results, players and headlines tend to be alot more positive and everything follows suit.

Besides Solskjaer and Van Gaal were backed with sending the likes of Welbeck, Chicharito, Lukaku, Di Maria and Sanchez out, often at a loss too so why wouldn’t ETH be?

Actually, Rose is 6 points behind Bayern now while BMG have done really poorly since he left. The CL showing has made a lot of people write him off.
