I think it's time for me to let the Ten Hag fantasies go. Its becoming unrealistic to think we would get him when the club is in love with Pochettino and has been moaning his name for years. The only two realistic possibilities right now is us getting Pochettino soon or getting an interim till the end of the season and then getting Poch

This is key for all those desperate to see ETH come in, he's a coach, he's not responsible for transfers, he's not responsible for any day to day running of the club beyond the training ground. This is fine with VDS and Overmars behind him, but who would be taking on these roles at United? Poch on the other hand is used to having a bit more responsibility. I'm not sure ETH could replicate his fine work at OT without the people and structures he has at Ajax around him. It's a similar story with Potter at Brighton, some managers just click with certain clubs and the views of those in senior positions all align perfectly.
I don’t want Poch; he’s got one of the best squads in the world that is really tough to put together and he’s looking at walking. He’s not winning the champions league group, he’s only winning the farms league.
Call me coloured here (Im danish), but how about Kasper Hjulmand, the danish national team manager?
At least as exciting as Ten Haag if you ask me. He checks a good amount of boxes:
- plays entertaining football
- gets the best out of youth
- gets the team working as a unit. Free flowing football.
- lets in very few goals. Only 1 goal let in during the WC qualifiers and teams have completely been destroyed.

He is unbeaten in the UCL to be fair and if he beats City tomorrow he probably will win his champions league group, he beat them in Paris. Losing a champions league group to Man City isn't a bad thing and he has the if not one of the most imbalanced top heavy squads in world football.
His club record is a bit ordinary though.
I know full well he's won 2 and drawn 2 in the champions league. The squad is still one of if not the best in the world, he's looking to walk away. That doesn't sit right

Tuchel was sacked this time last season, when asked about his time at PSG he said it's like I'm a sports minister I have to manage families and girlfriends. The addition of Messi, Hakimi, Ramos and Gigi will have only added to that. That club is a circus, you only have to see what happened recently with Icardi to know that. This is not to mention without including how toxic the environment is with Leonardo as sporting director.
I see no one has answered my question about why ten Hag is so highly rated, so I guess none of you actually know?

In my opinion we should do something about the levels above the manager before hiring yet another doomed-to-failure sap in what is essentially an outdated (and proven to be highly unsuccessful at United post-SAF) role in the modern game.

It's fair. Rangnick is great at building clubs ( far more than just coaching them), but he is working hard on becoming kind of a legend.

To be fair to Rangnick, when he was coaching them they were, I think, a 6th division club and he led them into 5th, so I was exaggerating a bit too much. There were fewer levels of divisions back then.
My preferences won’t impact my judgment, anyone who steps in through that door should be expected to take big steps forward in the next 12-18 months if that’s not happening and he tries to lower the expectations then get the next guy in the line. We have wasted at least 5 years by sticking for far far too long with LvG/Jose/Ole. Even Moyes should have been done in November in any serious club.

What that implies is that Tuchel is more of a coach compared to SAF as a manager which requires someone above him..
I don't, he's looking like he's a quitter, perhaps the job is too big for him. He's not won anything, through a season as manager, he's got a great opportunity at PSG. Poor mentality.
There have been a ton of posts highlighting why he is so highly rated. Especially his CHL runs with Ajax have been very impressive. Much better than anything we have seen from Ajax in several years before him.
Also your second point is weird. How come 14/15, 15/16 and 17/18 season PSV won? And 16/17 it was Feyenoord.
Ten Hag is the guy who has brought Ajax back to the throne.
Which is also why many want him to do the same for United.
His attacking style of play. You could argue it’s Ajax’s style but for me as someone who watched Ajax since I was a kid, he brought it to the next level.
What’s also important, it’s a very clear style of play, something lots of people here want since Pep, Klopp and Tuchel all have and in my opinion Poch doesn’t have.
I'm not 100% sold on Poch but he undeniably had Spurs punching well above their weight - and consistently as well.

Come on, that is unfair on him - and it's untrue - he won the French cup with PSG. Lille won the league by one point. In his first full season he's 11 points ahead, top of the group in the CL, and managing some of the biggest egos in football.
He wanted the job when Ole got it, reports said he was all but given a contract to sign that summer before the board turned around and appointed Ole as the permanent manager, and he knows that if he doesn't go now he's probably going to fall behind again. He's dealt with this board before. He's being pragmatic about a dream move. Truth is if he stays he will win the league with PSG, he will probably win the cup(he did last season too), and he has a top chance at winning the champions league with them. However he won't have time to build a quality side and if he fails to win the Champions League he'll get the sack. PSG isn't a place where managers tend to stay very long, even when the manager is successful. Perhaps he even enjoys the competitiveness of the premier league more than the "sports minister role" at PSG as Tuchel called it .
With us he'll do well to finish top four, be lucky if he even gets to manage us in the champions league, and has a hell of a job to do with rebuilding the first team. It is by far the bigger challenge. Any manager looking for a project would look at our money, our ability to attract players, and our current fortunes and think "You know what, I could get that side winning". Conte had the same idea when he went to the media with his interest. For an ambitious manager, getting Manchester United back to the top is clearly an exciting challenge.

I think the PSG job is harder than people think, more about managing egos than building a team. We see with Ronaldo that can unsettle a squad. Having said that, I agree that there are questions on his real level. But what he achieved at Spurs with a limited squad and working under Levy is quite an achievement. He is certainly far better qualified than Ole ever was, lets acknowledge that
But, at the risk of repitition, what we should demand as fans is that Woodward and Arnold are sacked and someone who understands football is brought into run the club, or at least all football matters. VDS would be perferct but I am sure there are other candidates. Then build a structure and recruitment/ youth set up that survices changes in manager. its not that hard, City and Chelsea are perfect examples. Emanalo was DoF at Chelsea and is now at Newcastle. I didn't realize Favre was out of work. He makes sense as an interim until the end of the year if he wants the job and doesn't mind not being in first place to get it on a permanent basis, and is probably who a normal competent club would appoint.

Trust me, he's not the average coach that 'just wins domestic trophies'. Before Ten Hag came in, Ajax didn't win the league for a couple years in a row, he really improved the way they played, even on the Champions League level, which no Dutch team since PSV (Hiddink at the time) in 2005 did that well. I'm half Dutch, and coming from a Feyenoord family, even my Rotterdam-based friends and relatives watch Ten Hag with the highest regards. The guy is tactically impressive, makes young players significantly better and each and every manages to get gack on a admirable level, despite his best players being sold.
As quite a fanatic follower of the Dutch league, hands down that Erik ten Hag is a brilliant choice for Manchester United. I would rate him one of the top-5 coaches of the word currently any day of the week.
I see Ten Hag is the new flavor of the month. With the way Conte has Spurs playing, waiting for ten Hag at the end of the season would mean United out of top 4. If Poch wants to join now, get him sign up.
