Again , because you and others keep talking about managers coming to the club with a pressing game and Ronaldo not being able or required in their preferred style.
All that would be fine my friend if that was their style and,it was the case in the way they choose to play their strikers. The tiny problem is , they don't play that way at all.
Poch at spurs very much played that way Kane especially worked really hard back in those days. Granted he hasn't done it at PSG, but then he has struggled at PSG especially last season. Ten Hag;'s Ajax very much playing high pressing. Haller, Ajex current first-choice striker has one of the highest pressing stats among strikers.
So the two most likely managers would both prefer to play that style.

Who is underrating him?

I think people are either rating him as he is - a decent manager for a club like Spurs or Leicester, but who will be a punt for a big club given his lack of experience in delivering trophies*, or they are overrating him by making excuses for him not winning trophies when he'd got his sides into the positions to do so at Spurs or PSG.

*apologies to everyone who grew up dreaming of spending a billion Euro on winning the French Cup.

I can’t believe that people are seriously suggesting Poch. He came second in a one horse race with PSG.
His predecessor did worse and then went on to win Chelsea their 2nd CL.

Why do people dismiss context so easily. It's PSG, they're a circus.

Here’s a radical suggestion - why don’t we interview Poch, Ten Hag (if he’s interested) and anyone else who might be on our shortlist and then appoint the best candidate

If Poch is seriously interested and willing to leave PSG now, I'd say sign him ASAP and ensure there is money to try and fix Midfield as best as possible in January to give us a chance of finishing league as best as possible and winning FA Cup.

I think this is people's biggest hang up, how massive the drop off in performance was towards the end, but that can be explained quite easily. His style of football is incredibly high energy. He quite consistently had the highest running teams in the league. 5 years without being able to refresh his squad much and as a result an aging squad who were just completely drained resulted in them being unable to keep that level of intensity up.
High intensive teams usually get burned out after a while. It happened to Klopp at Dortmund. That's why you need a team rebuild in order for the cycle to begin anew, and Poch wanted to replace some of the players, but wasn't allowed to by Levy. I wouldn't hold that against him. Obviously I want Ten Hag if the plan is to wait for the end of the season. As people here have said - higher risk, but also higher reward.

And Tuchel was sacked for his performance there.

Poch took over with PSG a point behind and 21 games left. Let's not pretend he was left some insurmountable challenge.

So just like Poch, does that mean you also don’t want Tuchel at United then? Both Tuchel before came to Chelsea and Poch have similar achievement.

Would Poch be the first manager ever to have managed both Messi and Ronaldo?

I almost like the fact people are underrating Poch on here. Means our rivals would also think similarly and we might get a decent jump on them.

If Tuchel can do what he did with Chelsea, Poch can definitely get us top 4 and a cup. Also, be had a badass cape, if I remember correctly, so that's a plus as well.
Badass cape, who are we appointing here, Poch or Zorro?!

So just like Poch, does that mean you also don’t want Tuchel at United then? Both managers have similarity achievement before Tuchel came to Chelsea.

Erm... Tuchel won the league 2 years running before that season.

I mean basing it on who gives the best interview probably isn't wise, we'll likely end up with Steve McClaren

Erm... Tuchel won the league 2 years running before that season.

And you think Poch won’t win the league if he stays full season at PSG? Look at the ligue 1 table now. Two managers who are capable to win ligue 1 and had reached final CL.

I like the hunger Poch is showing. Ready to leave asap to manage United. I like that attitude.

It's false memory syndrome or sixth sense " I see pressing everywhere"
Ajax play possession from the back and a loaded midfield. They don't press in the way Liverpool do. If you see our squad given belief and the defence sorted out you will see what they can do. This pressing mantra is the 350 million pounds a week to the NHS equivalent guff.
We cannot get a manager because of Ronaldo is total rubbish. We need a pressing manager is total rubbish. This , nothing will change unless Ronaldo presses is rubbish.
Seriously, given Poch or hag or a couple of dozen other managers in charge when you see what happens you will finally realise just how bad Ole and the present staff are.

So you want him but subconsciously even you think he isn't good enough to win the biggest trophies or maybe you think we are already out the Cl .

I don't follow the majority that seem to see Ten Hag as the best option. The Dutch league is quite inferior to the Premier League, and it's difficult to gauge how his modest success in the Champions league would translate to Premier League success. What makes Ten Hag such an attractive option compared to Brendan Rodgers and Poch? I'm not really convinced by any of them, but from that 3 I'd go with Poch.

And Tuchel was sacked for his performance there.

Poch took over with PSG a point behind and 21 games left. Let's not pretend he was left some insurmountable challenge.

He was sacked because he didn't want to commit to the club, turned down new contract and wanted to leave at the end of the season

And you think Poch won’t win the league if he stays full season at PSG? Look at the ligue 1 table now.

And when they start giving out trophies for being in a good position in November, I'll give him some credit. He also seems to be angling for a way out before finishing the job.

To be honest, I liked Poch at Spurs and there are a lot of names we're being linked with who I think would be much worse than him. I'd take him over Zidane or Rodgers, certainly ahead of Lopetegui or Blanc.

I just think we'd be taking a gamble on him showing us something that he hasn't shown in the past, despite having opportunities to do so. If we're taking a gamble, why not do it on someone like Ten Hag who doesn't have those red flags to his name?

O better yet, why not remove the gamble altogether and go for someone like Enrique or Mancini who has a proven track record.

So you want him but subconsciously even you think he isn't good enough to win the biggest trophies or maybe you think we are already out the Cl .
He had a title challenge with Spurs and a CL final. I think he's more than good enough to win major trophies. Whether he can compete with Klopp or Guardiola is another matter entirely. And even that one is more or less decided. Guardiola leaves this season or the next and Klopp in 3 years time. Klopp also doesn't have the resources to compete with us. Really all we need is a competent manager here.

Completely agreed. I meant deserved Ole there btw.

Ten Hag could be a great option but Ajax coaches have often proven to be disastrous outside their setup. He has a very defined role at that club and it would be a big change to what he’s used to at United in so many ways. If we were going for Ten Hag then you’d want to bring a lot more of the Ajax staff with you.

Poch is a fantastic manager. Going from the least qualified manager in the league to a guy who’s record in England is nothing but overachievement will be a stark difference. I cannot comprehend how our fans could be seriously annoyed by this appointment. Just screams entitlement.
Over achieving is not sustainable though.

entitlement? Feck off with that nonsense. It screams we want to be sure with the next one.
Going for Poch now says to me that we haven’t put much thought into it, we’ve gone for someone who is already scribbled down. Even newscastle interviewed people. Let’s look at the options sensibly.

Seriously, given Poch or hag or a couple of dozen other managers in charge when you see what happens you will finally realise just how bad Ole and the present staff are.

Dont disagree with this. We have a decent squad. I mean playing VDB with Sancho changed so much against Watford. A semi decent manager who can get just 2 or 3 of our players firing should be enough to attain top four this season.

Here’s a radical suggestion - why don’t we interview Poch, Ten Hag (if he’s interested) and anyone else who might be on our shortlist and then appoint the best candidate
Exactly! Let’s do it properly and hear their plans of how they would turn this season around, plans for the future, which young players they would earmark as future stars, how much they would need to spend, which players are out, what they’d do with Pogba, what staff they want, etc rather than just employing someone they wanted a few years ago

By the way, Poch wanted Sancho at Spurs. City rejected any offer we put forward to them though and ultimately he left for Dortmund. Technically any club could have just taken him for free at that point as he was only on a scholarship contract but City would have been able to block him from playing for the remaining year.

Even Liverpool don't press the way they used to do infact there was clear shift to more measured approach in Title winning season .
