Glad to have missed the sign up for this. I go on holiday on Tuesday but the junkie in me would have wanted to play anyways so at least I've not got the choice now.

An idea to break ties - the drafter with the lowest average pick time wins?

Thoughts anyone?

@Šjor Bepo @Pat_Mustard @Gio @Moby

put the average pick withing one hour so anyone that finishes under 14 hours(lets say we pick 14 players) gets to pick another player while we are arranging games.

edit: LOL only realized what you posted after pat commented:lol: good idea but as pat said, we need to find solution for PM picks.

It's an interesting an idea, but one problem is that managers who leave picks with people are then pretty much at the mercy of how quickly the other person is able to post them. It all becomes a bit random in that regard. I'm still up for it though - it's better than penalties anyway.

True, but it would encourage PMs to be sent (possibly multiple ones) at least. That said if someone posts multiple picks for players the second etc will essentially have a zero pick time. We could though always note 1hr as the shortest possible pick time which would mitigate this issue

you could count every PM pick the same no matter when it was posted.....as you are playing find someone who can be the PM guy and to make a valid PM pick you have to PM that guy + the manager that is picking after you. When ever one of those two posts your pick you get lets say 25 minutes on your time card.

Two more things- 12 or 14 man squads? And should there be injuries? I'm thinking one outfield player from the 11 to be injured post game before reinforcements or will it be annoying as it's a snake draft?

15 or 16 :wenger:

Boring to keep the same starting 11

With regards to the 'no mates' rule, does this include NT matches as well as club?

Yes. Here's the definition I'll be using for being mates/played together.

Played together at club level' will be defined as sharing at least one season with another player at the same club; if they did not move prior to the start of the league season e.g 15/16, they will have shared the season 14/15 as well as 15/16. They do not need to have been on the same pitch at the same time. Basically any time shared at the same club during the league campaign counts as played together; note however, if they were on loan for an entire season the club that they were loaned to will count as their club for that season. The only exception is if they were owned by the same club but one player did not play any senior games during that season (probably due to injury).

'Played together at international level' will be defined as being in the same squad for a major tournament; again they need not have been on the pitch at the same time nor on the pitch at all. If they played together but were not in any of the competitions below they can both be picked and be played together in the same draft side.

Major Tournaments include only the following:

The World Cup (1930-2014)

The Euros (1960-2012)

Copa America (1916-2015)

African Cup of Nations (1957-2015)

The Asian Cup (1956-2015)

The OFC (1973-2012)

Thank you for explaining. So players can have been at the same club together for less than a season. How is that defined? If a player joined mid-season is there a set amount of games that constitutes a full season?

If two players had one senior club team appearance in the 71/72 season in different games, even as a sub, they will be counted as playing together.

The reason for such a strict definition is make research easier (no need to check all the games in the tournament etc) and less disputes over eligibility.

Okay then I'm a little confused. You said...

"Played together at club level' will be defined as sharing at least one season with another player at the same club"

So just to confirm, they can't have been at the same club together at all?

Sorry wasn't clear enough.

If two players had one senior club team appearance at the same team in the 71/72 season in different games, even as a sub, they will be counted as playing together.

Is this clearer?

Thanks, that clears it up.

Very interested if there is a spot.

The 46-66 draft is currently on in the form of the Synth Draft and is unfortunately full. Put this thread on watch and you'll catch the discussion for the next draft

Idea for the next draft- simple snake, anyone born on or after the 1st Jan 1988. Essentially a modern players draft which excludes Messi and Ronaldo. It will be as yet a rather untapped pool. The closest was the Current Players Draft but that was 80s with the requirement of a few players from the 90s. This should be somewhat different
