Next Draft - Ideas and Discussions

maybe we could combine the two.....lets say 7 dead players, 3 toddlers and one free pick.

No one up for a chain draft anytime soon? Been a while since we did one and enjoyed the last one.

what’s one of those

Basically you have to pick a player that has played with whoever the guy before you picks. So for example..

Drafter 1 picks player A
Drafter 2 picks player B, player B must have played with player A
Drafter 3 picks player C, player C must have played with player B

And so on...

Ahh cheers okay that makes sense

Managers and Players Draft

All Time Pool, 2 drafts in 1

1. Firstly every drafter selects 16 players who have ever managed, this forms their managers team
2. Every player then forms their players team by selecting 16 players who have played under the management of any player in their managers team. This is defined as any player who has played in an international match or been in a major tournament squad (World Cup and continental championships such as the Euro's) under that manager or has played a match for a club in the same season as that manager has managed the club. Co-managers and player-managers count. The draft order for the players draft will be the opposite of the draft order for the managers draft.
3. The two draft pools are considered separate so a player that has been selected in the manager's draft can also be selected by the same drafter or a different drafter in the player's draft. However each player can only be selected once in the managers draft and once in the players draft.
4. Each match will consist of two games one between the managers XI's and one between the players XI's with advancement being determined by aggregate votes between the two games. Draws will be decided by lower total goalkeeping ranking in the RedCafe ranking with unranked goalkeepers counting as 50. If still a draw the match will be decided by penalties.
5. Each managers team and each players team will have 1 injury in round 1, 2 injuries in the quarter finals, 3 injuries in the semi finals and 4 injuries in the final. No more than one goalkeeper per managers team and no more than one goalkeeper per players team will ever be injured.
6. Reinforcements will be two managers from the managers team you defeated and two players from the players team you defeated. Alternatively you can select one player for your managers team and one player for your players team from an open pool in a random draft order after every drafter that wants to select from their defeated opponent has done so. Every reinforcement for your players team must have played under a manager in your managers team.

(I do it) My Way Draft

- Every manager has 500m to spend on players (using that previous Draft player's value list). You can have as many players as you want, and can even make up to 3 subs during the game.
- Managers can get any player, even though other already has that player. For instance Manager X and Y both can have/use Cruyff.
- Every manager can never use the same players on next rounds all the way to Final. So Manager X and Y, if proceed to next Round, can't use Cruyff anymore.
- Every advanced Round, Manager is given additional 50m.
- Every Round, Manager needs to construct a new Team with different Formation (to be determined).

Pro:
- No waiting time. Players selection can be done in maybe 2 days.
- Manager can construct their vision without rely on other Manager's pick.
- Every Round feels like a new Draft.

EDIT: As an extra tactical bit, would it be fun knowing your opponents beforehand so you could combat their usual tactics etc? Fine with either way just occurred to me as maybe a nice nuance

We can do that.
The plan is for manager to have free reign on choosing any Formation they want on every Round (from an approved list). With caveat, they can't use that Formation again for the rest of the Draft.

with both SF done, whats next? I love mike's idea because manager draft will open a completely new pool and it will be tricky to find the balance between a great pool for players draft and the actual quality of the manager draft.

brilliant idea thats sadly not getting much love, honestly feel this would be one of the best drafts we done.....

considering most are lazy gits michaels draft will go down the drain so whats next? No CL/WC draft? Who ever won it is unavailable, should be pretty easy to research and will completely change the draft pool.

Right now, I have a lot of works to do, so I really don’t have much time about that. But Michael’s idea are such a different breed, it makes me energetic.

Hi all, logging in after a long time. Has an all-time EPL draft been done? Seen a few videos recently and I think we can have a few decent teams from the PL era..

let's do the 30m and below players that was born after 1/1/1980. we can even have dedicated 3-5-2 or 4-2-2-2 formation.

Yes, but not for about 6-7 years. Would probably be up for one.

shall we do that then? Reckon we should get the numbers easily considering its zero research so even the lazy gits could play

1. Sjor
2. Bugsby
3. Gio

Let's go then.

1. Sjor
2. Bugsby
3. Gio
4. EAP
5. h-man
6. Iso
7. P-Nut

If you're going to do all time PL I don't think you can block players personally

any rules? To prevent people pick Edgar Davids for PL era. One season wonder (in PL) but with great name.

feck sake who made me a draft lord :o
PL peak, maybe go with minimum of 60 games in the league which should cover at least 2 years.

60 games sounds fair.

Is it just PL or pre 92 also included.
Would make sense to make it UK and get the rest of countries in too. We don't seem them too often in drafts.
I’d support that to open up the pool a little, but I suppose the trade-off is you lose the purity of the theme a wee bit. Will leave it up to others to weigh in.

It would be just scotland? Anyways im against it as the gap between the leagues is just too big so its hard to judge performances and peaks.
With PL only everyone is in the same boat.
