Southampton (H) Win
Brighton (H) Draw
Fulham (A) Draw
Palace (H) Win
Spurs (A) Draw
Everton (A) Win
Ipswich (H) Win

We will be getting more training time, Amorim will likely start to field a similar XI more and more, we've played the best 3 teams away and had 49.7% possession at Arsenal, 48.2% possession at City, and 47.2% possession at Liverpool. If the players aren't buying into Amorim's approach then they won't buy into anyone's approach. We had 30 minutes against Arsenal where we looked really comfortable, we won at City and went toe to toe with Liverpool despite the huge differences in how we're faring this season.

I think we'll get at least 15 points from these fixtures.
Anything above 15 points would be amazing.

Ultimately, a good opportunity to develop some momentum.

Be interesting to see how we play against Arsenal.

If we get another positive performance regardless of the result then I think we might have turned a corner.

Less games and more time to prepare for games can only be a good thing, throw in a couple of signings and we could very well finish the season strongly.

Last time such thread was made, how many games did we lose? Such threads really jinx our team.

We have very nice fixtures to evaluate our team and to give us a very good idea where we stand.we can also determine if Liverpool performance is a one-off or not.

I'm expecting our usual mixed results, lack of consistency so:

Southampton (H) - W
Brighton (H) - T
Fulham (A) - W
Palace (H) - W
Spurs (A) - L
Everton (A) - T
Ipswich (H) - W

13-14 points, depending on if we lose to everton away

The results couldn’t matter less. Performances need to improve across multiple games. We can’t even win consecutive games so no point discussing future hypothetical results.
i mean at this point we are veering into where results sure as hell do matter. Ipswich and Liecester dont look terrible, and could easily make things interesting if we struggle to get results these next couple of matches. Overall yes, performances being good should mean results being good, but we have to make sure we are getting both at this point.

If we play like we have all season and don't get any new players in January:

Southampton (H) w
Brighton (H) d
Fulham (A) d
Palace (H) d
Spurs (A) l
Everton (A) d
Ipswich (H) w

10 points

If we play like we did v Liverpool and get a specialist lwb and decent striker in January:

Southampton (H) w
Brighton (H) d
Fulham (A) d
Palace (H) w
Spurs (A) d
Everton (A) w
Ipswich (H) w

This run is an opportunity we cannot let go.
4 of the opponents are below us in the table and struggling.
If we can’t beat at least 3 of them, there’s not much hope of crawling our way into the top half of the table.

Spurs are only one point above us and have lost one game more and conceded more goals.
Their form has been just as erratic as ours, but they’ve scored almost double the number of goals than us.
In fact they’re the 2nd highest scoring team in the PL after Liverpool.
Hard to call.
Today I’d say a loss, but we have several games to play before we go to WHL.
Amorim might finally be getting a tune out of this lot by then.

12 points.
Anything higher and we’re on the right path.

Southampton is on 17th Jan, Brighton is on 19th Jan. Cannot start the same eleven with a span of one day in between. Who even makes these ridiculous schedules??

We’re an injury or ban away from being shite all over again. With a full squad to pick from in every game I’d fancy us to get 15+ points. If Ugarte, Dalot, Max, Bruno or Mainoo get injured then all bets are off. You could maybe add Hojlund to that list too. We’ve a big squad but it’s somehow still paper thin.

There's not enough hysteria at the moment after the Anfield result. Therefore we'll lose to Southampton to keep things interesting. Then we'll spank our usual bogey team Brighton to subvert expectations, such is Amorim's way. We'll even keep João Pedro and Welbeck off the score sheet in the process.

Fulham and Palace look like cagey games - I'll go with a win and a draw over the two. Spurs we'll absolutely batter 1-0 as a matter of revenge. Son will cry. Everton might have a new manager bounce by the time we play them and, if not, what strengths they have happen to match our weaknesses, so I'm going for a loss there. By the time we play Ipswich, we'll be primed to pass them off the park.

13 points.
So far so good.

Why was the relegation thread closed? It's looking like a serious possibility

We got 3 tonight. Unless we get a striker in I can't see us getting more than 10 points from this run of games.

I just don’t know what to think anymore. It’s so difficult to predict anything with this team, other than we will concede goals from set pieces. I think around twelve points from those seven games should be the minimum, and we have three now. Had Amad not produced the late comeback, I would have been seriously worried about a total collapse. It looks so much better now.

Three points from six, with a tough away game at Fulham next in the league. Our most important task this season is Premier League survival; all else is secondary. Once we achieve that, we can look forward to the massive re-build.

Felt so much more positive when this thread was created than I do now!

Can’t see where a win or goals are coming from but can see us continuing to concede more goals. Not a great combo and nothing hopeful of winning any of those games.

Fulham will be tricky at the Cottage. They can play and we can't score goals.
Palace have hit a streak and are looking strong. Too physical and athletic for us.
Spurs are in worst form than Utd, but we can't score goals.
Everton could be getting the new manager bounce.
Ipswich will embarrass us, but we'll scrape it..

We’re better away from home, so I’d like to think we will have a few surprise good results.

I hate to tell you, but we're actually not. 2 away wins all season. We're just all round awful

The 40 points target for safety is a myth - you'd need to go back a long time to find a season where that many points was needed to stay up. Last season it was as low as 27, and this season, with Leicester/Southampton being exceptionally poor and Ipswich marginally better but too porous, I could even see 30 points being enough.

The league just feels like a proving ground for next season from hereon. Finishing 17th while finding some way to win the Europa League actually sets us up better (both financially and in being attractive to new players) than a 6th place finish would.

No matter what, we will not go down. Mostly due to the fact, that there are 3 teams that are worse than United. Believe it or not.

We will finish 15th - 17th in the league. Focus on winning the Europa League or the FA Cup. Then we have Europe next season, and can start on a fresh.

Agreed. We manage 1 p on average.

I'm more worried about how many points we realistically need to stay in the league. 5 or 6 wins? Look at our remaining fixtures and honestly tell me where we might get them?
Looking at the form of the bottom three (plus Wolves at the moment but I’d expect them to improve), realistically we probably only need one or two wins to stay ahead of them. Even United can’t mess up from here.

Our longest winning streak in the league this season is 1 game! If we fail to win 2 in a row against Palace, Spurs, Everton, Ipswich then we could go the whole season without consecutive wins!

Look at the recent form of the teams around and below us, including the bottom 3.

Over the last 6 league games, only Leicester (L-6), Spurs and Southampton's (both D-1/ L-5 ) results have been worst than ours.

Ipswich have the same W/D/L record as us (W-1/ D-1/ L-4)

Wolves, Everton and West Ham have all done better than us over the last 6 league games.

Honestly I wish the likes of Leicester, Ipswich and Wolves could put some pressure on. Least if we got into a relegation battle it might see us show some fight in so called smaller games. Instead they remain adrift and Utd only give a shit when it's a big game.

I don’t think we will win 2 in a row in those games, it’s probably 4-5 points from those games and wouldn’t be shocked if we don’t even get that many.

We got 3 points against Southampton, don't see us getting any more from those fixtures
