Nexlions Cup

From what I know, Henriquez isn't here. I've been told the club has decided to send the younger players for this instead, so I'll expect most of the players who are getting games in the u21s to be left out.

That was my thought.

I still don't see the game on the MUTV schedule, but hopefully it will be shown as Skeppy said, starting at 10:00 am tomorrow.

As it will be 5am ET I doubt I'll catch it anyway.

Official squad
Pierluigi Gollini, Jonathan Sutherland
Declan Dalley, Donald Love, Callum Evans, Louis Rowley, Liam Grimshaw, Nicholas Ioannou
James Weir, Jack Rudge, Patrick McNair, Joe Rothwell, Jack Barmby, Ben Pearson, Mats Daehli
Sam Byrne, Kenji Gorré, James Wilson

GK: Gollini, Sutherland
DF: Grimshaw, McNair, Love, Rowley, Ioannou, Dalley
MF: Pearson, Weir, Daehli, Rothwell, Rudge, Gorre, Evans
ST: Wilson, Byrne, Barmby

So this is going to look like an U18 team. From these guys I'd guess we'll see:

Gollini
Love Grimshaw McNair Rowley
Weir Pearson Rothwell Daehli
Wilson Byrne

I quite like that 11.

Sutherland, Love, Grimshaw, Ioannou, Evans, Weir, Rudge, Pearson, Daehli, Wilson and Barmby

Our starting XI.

Am I the only one who feels that Dæhli is wasted when playing out on the wing?

He'll probably end up centrally but he's certainly not wasted on the left. He's unplayable out there at times.

Nope, me too, strongly. Although I wouldn't say wasted - his dribbling is superb. But for me he's the standout from this group of lads, and should be put in the middle where he can have maximum impact. Ideally the central man in the 3 of a 4231.

EDIT: By the way, anyone fancy PMing me a river?

Is it on any channel in India? Seems to be live on starsports in other regions

Can't find a river on my usual source.

Is it the manchester united youth vs sporting lisbon match? If so, I found a river!!!

Can someone be so kind to help me match the numbers with the names? Have the week off from work which is why I can watch these lads. But I don't know who's who. This is so exciting. Love watching the youngsters.

Boys not got their passing game going yet, but the pitch does look odd. Barmby keeps trying to dribble when it's not on.

EDIT: Ah, artificial. Never ever brings good football out of anyone except the team who always play on it.

 Sexy from Daehli there.

Shame Pereira's not playing, this looks like a pace of play that would have suited him.

That was brilliant by Daehli.

Yeah it's suiting him. Only one of our players who looks like its properly working at the moment. The team's generally a bit sluggish, without the usual brilliant movement off the ball.

I think that's a very negative way of looking at it. I think the quality of the opposition is higher than we are normally faced with, and as such we're not looking as good as we normally do.

I've been very impressed with their ability to pass and hold on to the ball, and they hunt in packs when out of possesion. It's a real test.

Good game between two good sides. Pearson solid as always, Barmby and Dæhlie with some outrageous moments of skill.
