Familiar with Gouffran and Sissoko, and heard very good things about Yanga-Mbiwa, but is this Haidara fellow any good?
I am surprised Newcastle haven't been interested in Gourcuff. I think they can get for really cheap and he might fit in well.

He has been woeful for Newcastle so far and was horrendous the other night. Another poor piece of business by the 'messiah' Carr.
I don't think he's a bad player at all. The whole team is under performing.
He probably isn't and the general consensus was that he was a good sighing when he first moved. I had only seen him play maybe twice before he moved but I have been shocked at how poor he has been.
He's a good young player. Young defenders make mistakes - see Pallister, Kaboul, Luiz, etc. etc. for examples of defenders who have been pilloried like this but who have/will go own to be successful.
He was always overhyped, for me. Didn't look half as good as Belhanda or Giroud when I saw them and he was possibly their least impressive defender.
He had the makings of a good signing, french international (even if it means pretty much nothing these days) and physically imposing but in reality Hilton was the better defender the year Montpellier won but Yanga received more credit thanks to his style (Hilton was more "Rio" and Yanga "Vidic" to really simplify things).
The player they signed that has disappointed me the most is Sissoko, he is actually a worse player than at Toulouse.
Of course, just because a young defender makes mistakes, doesn't mean he'll not continue to do so. There aren't many defenders like Rio around, who pretty much erased them from his game.
Luiz was and still is a calamity as a CB since he can't read the game, simple as. Will never be top class.
