Thought I'd start the thread seeing as us Kiwi's are the ones hosting. I'm normally pretty confident when England come on tour and we certainly had the honours the last time you did, however after the performances over the last few months (hammered in SA, Aus and unconvincing against Bangladesh), I'd say you're defintley favourites. I personally think we'll get a hammering in the tests, while the ODIs will be a much closer affair. Bond is of course not playing for us anymore which is a huge blow, and I'm sure your batsmen are all sleeping a lot easier at night knowing they'll be facing the medium pacers of the likes of O Brien and Mason instead. The itenary is as follows:

I agree...
We'll win the test series comfortably, or atleast we should.
But the ODI's will be a different prospect, as one day we could beat Australia, before losing to Bangladesh the day after. Alot depends on K.P.

NZ have never been a team of stars and usually make the most of what we have quite well. Our batting order has always been quite fragile, but McCullum and How are batting well at the top at the moment and with Fulton, Styris, Taylor and Oram in the middle order it can swing either way. While our bowling attack is much weaker without Bond, Kyle Mills has been bowling fantastically in recent months and hopefully Chris Martin will get oppurtunities as he is very good on home soil and is strong against the left handers. Vettori is one of the best in the shortened versions of the game.

In tests we will get a hiding. Our two openers wouldn't even get into most of your domestic sides. We rely way too heavily on our lower order to score runs and more than often we will be 3 or 4 down before we reach 100. None of our bowlers bar Chris Martin are geniuine threats, even Vettori can be quite easily played out on green pitches like ours.

I almost feel sorry for the Kiwis. Almost.

What a shit fight this series will be though. God there will be some ugly cricket. Poms to outdo the Kiwis eventually though. Kiwis are fecking horrible at the moment.

As goes the Twenty20 tomorrow, or later today for you Kiwis, i am not brimming with optimism.

It may well have begun in England, but on the international stage we're decidedly shabby. at it, crap, well more often than we are good anyway. We'd probably do better entering a specialist side, dominated by the best county's line up.

In either form of the game, our attack lacks the consistency to give you any reasonable certainty. Flintoff's void remains, or iti did. That being said, Sidebottom's rise has been a real plus in the last year, and there is definitely promise in the up and coming players.

Still searching for a keeper we can look to as reliable mind. Been hearing only good things about Ambrose for a while, so we can hope.

How about we acknowledge that this is going to be a rather erratic tour.

I wouldnt go that far....

I think KP will come back with a bang, had a terrible series by his standards in Sri Lanka. Im suure he'll be keen to tuck into the Black Caps military medium attack.

England beat N.Z today in the 20/20.
England posted 184-9, K.P, smashing 43, and Masceranas with four 6's in 4 balls.
N.Z 152 all out, never really looked like getting close, apart from an Oram cameo.

Apart from Oram, the rest were completely useless.

105/8

We're not gonna make the full 50.

Three run-outs doesn't do much for the cause, though due credit to the Kiwis.

There was no collapse because we never got fooking started, shit from start to finish.

Alastair Cook shouldn't be opening in ODI's, should stick to Tests.

Yep, i agree, it could be detrimental to his test form aswell, as his temprament is the most impressive thing.
And your right, but at one point we were going well at 58-2 off about 14 overs.

They were all over us n the field, I think we only mustered 1 boundary infront of square - the rest were edges etc.. Perhaps a good time for a wake-up call on tour.

Stuart Broad bowled well however.

Next one starts tonight/tomorrow morning.
Looks as if we're sticking with the same side that got trounced in Wellington.

KP avoids falling to the hat trick ball, but we've lost Mustard and Bell. Quite the catch in all that too.

Still more intent about us today which is pleasing.

42/2

158 all out, not enough.

Somebody said earlier that the Aussies got just shy of double that here.

We came out after the rain break and acted a bit crazy, and more run outs too. The decision making by too many...:(

Credit to Broad though, and the first time he has come in and shown those further up the order a thing or two.

New Zealand have a revised target of 135 i think they just said on the radio.

165/0 in 18.1 overs. That was an ass-whooping and a half.

Well well, we've got an early wicket. New Zealanders are playing a good patient game mind.

Watching the scorecard (!) on BBCi with commentary. 85-0 now after 15 overs. Mustard going well with 53 now off 47 balls. He was excellent last year for Durham - glad to see him get a half century.

94-0

152-0

Runs Balls 4s 6s
Cook not out 65 81 8 0
Mustard not out 79 66 11 1

going well at the moment...

Mustard's gone

158-1

Belly's in.

Im off to bed in a minute.

C'mon Lads..

Shit. Cook's out.

Ryder on a hat-trick...

Looks like I'm staying up for a bit longer...

But that was the end of Ryder's over so he'll be back in a few minutes..

Maiden for Martin after the two wickets.

C'mon Pietersen...

Hit it man...

No hatrick for Ryder.

Bedtime.

I've just completely given up on one day cricket, I was never that great a fan, though it's enjoyable attending a cricket match that gives you a result that day, but that last world cup just killed it entirely for me. I could be watching this current match right now if I simply flicked the TV on, but it seems to much bother for the end result. And this game even sounds interesting, England setting a mighty target of 341, and making a complete arse up of defending it in the field early doors

I don't know who this How is but that's one of the finest ODI innings ever. Now if only he can take NZ all the way.

I bet I've jinxed him.

Vettori given not out when his bat had bounced and he was actually run out. Third umpires are blind these days. Still, great game. 9 needed off 8 now.
