New Fantasy Draft

Nice, i think

Aye, Ramsey was quite high on my list. Saying that, if we are basing it on current ability rather than potential, he has only really had 1 proper season of top flight football.

Good shout all the same.

I'm going to draft in my mate Jason for goalkeeper. He is pretty handy, kept a brilliant clean sheet this weekend in the Blackwater and Dengie league.

The number of players that dare to be a few months older  Wanted David Wheater as a CB, but Mrs. Wheater just couldn't wait a couple of months. Mrs. Mikel was similarly impatient.

Anyway, Chris Wood will be joined up front by Moussa Dembele

Not quite sure why I am picking another central midfielder but I just couldn't resist picking this guy.

Toni Kroos.

Kroos is another good shout, but I wouldnt really place him as a central midfielder myself - more of a winger/AM for me.

Can definitely play wide in a 4-3-3 though, as i may be intending.

Well done Solius, you just picked two of my choices.
cnut

I shat myself when I saw the Defour thread randomly bumped. I was hoping it didn't remind anyone before my turn.

Delving into the United collection of youngsters again:

Tom Cleverley. (Giggsy not included).

Truthfully I hadn't even contemplated Cleverly . Don't know how I forgot him off my shortlist.

Yeah me too, that's a good choice!

There are plenty of very big names within a few months of the age limit:

Fabregas, Pique, Nani, and obviously, Messi...

lol, there's many talented players that are born a few months before Messi and in 1986, it goes to show how shit everyone is/and how good Messi really is.

Next idea, maybe over the boring summer months...

Another fantasy draft only of players olders than Ronaldo? That's probably too easy.

Maybe only of players over 30...

Should do a blind draft, where one person is the controller (and not actually in the draft), and each person in the draft (in order) gives him a list of 4-5 players they want in order for each round. The controller than picks the player highest on the list that hasnt been selected by anyone. Therefore, nobody knows who you picked.

plus, it move faster, as the managers just need to send a list by PM, and the controller will just make sure he/she is picking by the selection order.

That has it's own problems, namely working formations, I have changed position of players I wanted in this several times, and others only decided who to pick when I was up, I don't have a shortlist like others (and your system requires), I'm just going with my heart, I would really struggle with that change.

That could work, but the problem is you're left without any control over what position your next pick will be.

The sudden craze of picking CBs in this game is a great example.

Yeah, I changed my mind tons of times when deciding how to pick.

Thats the interesting aspect of, it does have flaws, but not 100% knowing who you be getting, for example your list could be all centre-backs because you feel that others are picking centre-backs (and dont want to miss train), or it could just be the best player (minus ronaldo and messi) you think is available. Plus you got 14 rounds, so creating a formation shouldnt be too difficult.

And selection will be 1 --> 8, and then 8 --> 1, and so on.

We'll see, next time we run a draft we can vote on if people want this faster, blind draft or to stick with the slower, waiting around to pick method.

Anyway, agree with some of you suggesting 8 being the maximum number unless we have a huge pool to pick from. This one is getting quite hard.

If you did this, you could start involving trades if you ended up with too many or not the right players in certain positions.

To be honest, 8 is probably the right number for this youth one and 16 a good number for drafts where it's 'all in'! Never mind, I think it still makes it fascinating.

To me, the pace of the draft is not an issue at all.

I don't know about you lot but my fantastic scouting network means I'm not struggling at all for players, ho hum.

I think that the hardest part is not identifying players, but deciding who to pick when its your turn. All the players picked so far apart from 5 where on our shortlist, but there are couple which id rather wed picked earlier.
