Fallen Muppet. Lest we never forget
I thought the Jackson/Culkin stuff was pretty funny TBF.
Comedian is lazy because he speaks of the current political climate, his life. What do comedians normally joke about?Well hold on, I presented a idea to a tv network and they rejected it, Dave brought a idea to a tv network and they rejected it.
Whats the difference ? Why is only his free speech the one under attack ? Its almost like a private company having control over its output isn't against free speech.
Maybe and maybe not. I don't think Chappelle hates gay/bi/trans people but we all know there's a bit more to homophobe/transphobia than that.
I think Dave like many older successfully rich comedians has become bored, isolated, lazy and spends most of his time at home, searching his name on twitter. So the result as I mentioned before isn't a great stand up set about the current political climate we are living(let alone a masterpiece like Chaplins Great Dictator)but a stand up set about his new pet dog, how trans people are ''funny'' and why he isn't allowed to say homophobic slurs on the tv.
A million different things. Being an ant, canyon rope bridges, nothingness(Personal favourite). Also David Chappell is like a really good comedian, so he should be doing something a bit more interesting then well his new pet dog.Comedian is lazy because he speaks of the current political climate, his life. Not another Roy Keane thread!About 20 minutes in and he's fallen pretty far since I last saw him. He just comes across as a cranky middle aged guy who's given up trying to make sense of the world and just delivers half baked routines with barely- there punchlines. All he's got left is his delivery and even that seems jaded.

‘I’m team Terf’: Dave Chappelle under fire over pro-JK Rowling trans stance
Netflix is facing calls to drop the comedian’s special The Closer after his latest comments about transgender people
Dave Chappelle’s latest Netflix special is facing a wave of intense backlash after the comedian once again made jokes directed toward the LGBTQ+ community and defended the author J K Rowling, who has been previously accused of transphobia.
So... the third special is out. Seems our Dave said some controversial things.
I don't think what he said was that bad. But then I'm not someone who's affected by transphobia so I can accept I'm missing something.
There's also this bit about Da Baby which got him into even more hot water:
Anyone watched he whole thing yet?

its not that deep. I wouldn't say Dave is prejudice at all. He has always been a piss taker and has spoken about many different people/groups, as well as a sort of social commentary.I’ll be honest, he’s getting a bit boring now. It’s just Dave trying to downplay his obvious prejudices with “You can’t say nothing cause I’m black and we had it worse” nonsense.
Ever seen Bill Burr live?Watching Dave Chappelle is like watching a living legend in action, it feels special.
I dunno, I just can’t see it. He references punching down on the latest show but if the group of people he’s mocking is telling him it’s offensive and it needs to stop, then maybe he just needs to stop.its not that deep. Gonna get through it this weekend. I’ve got tickets to see him in London in a few weeks too - cannot wait.Watching Dave Chappelle is like watching a living legend in action, it feels special.
Don't know about that as Carlin pretty much started the trend of not telling jokes on stage and instead just having a old grumpy man rant for 60 minutes. Also responsible for the idea that comedians are important ''truth tellers'' rather then the reality which is people desperately looking to get a blow job in the club toilets.Offence/cancelling/whatever aside, keeping going over this shit it’s just…. Really boring.
Comedians making specials about how people on Twitter were mean to them and how much they really don’t care, but also here’s a long entire bit I wrote about it and have performances multiple times in several different specials I’m paid millions for. These are middle aged men. It’s not exactly cutting edge is it?… do they literally have nothing else to talk about? Are they that rich and bored?
Chappelle is a legendary comedian and master story teller but his last few things have been very… yawn…. Doesn’t really seem like the kind of hills Carlin would die on, does it?

Doesn't sound very funny tbh.Context II: "Using comedy to hold a mirror up to society that makes the audience face uncomfortable truths? Nah, that doesn't sound like Chapelle at all."
Doesn't sound very funny tbh.
examples ?That's the layer(s) that Dave is well-known and respected for. They are inconvenient truths and he makes you think at some point during and after you're laughing or trying to understand his set.
This has really turned me off stand up shows and specials in the last 3-4 years.Offence/cancelling/whatever aside, keeping going over this shit it’s just…. Really boring.

that goes for all comedy. Comedians like him are piss takers. It wouldn't be the same if everyone just said "make jokes but not us because we deserve exception". wouldn't really work.I dunno, I just can’t see it. He references punching down on the latest show but if the group of people he’s mocking is telling him it’s offensive and it needs to stop, then maybe he just needs to stop.
But comedy has come a long way from laughing down at minorities. Even just a one off might do but Dave dug himself a hole in his first Netflix special and just kept coming back to it to the point it seems like spite.that goes for all comedy. comedy has gone nowhere and he doesn't simply target minorities. He tends to speak on what is current affairs/topics. Do you know he made jokes about rape, murder, abusing women, paedo's, Jews, racism, the catholic church and see what subject people are getting their knickers in a twist over? kind of proves his point. But comedy has come a long way from laughing down at minorities. Why become a martyr to this? Just move on. To go back time and time again even after being told the community finds it offensive just seems off to me.
just beating the same point in special after special to hide behind I can say this cause blacks suffer (feck sake) is a cheap cop out
I guess every spectator will take something different from his specials but that’s one hell of a stretch, even for RaceCafe.I’ll be honest, he’s getting a bit boring now. It’s just Dave trying to downplay his obvious prejudices with “You can’t say nothing cause I’m black and we had it worse” nonsense.
That’s what he ends those jokes with though.I guess every spectator will take something different from his specials but that’s one hell of a stretch, even for RaceCafe.
ain’t this. . .That’s what he ends those jokes with though.
I’m telling you, it’s done,” he says. “I’m done talking about it. All I ask of your community, with all humility: will you please stop punching down on my people.”
Where’s the stretch?
