Not interested in him or his shows now he is defending Jackson
Same. At least he didn't try to defend R Kelly... FfsNot interested in him or his shows now he is defending Jackson
He was but that comedic well was run dry years ago that there's honestly nothing fresh or funny left to say especially with that sense of humour being eviscerated after being outed like he was.Are you saying Michael Jackson wasn't in the news in 2019 ?
Hey the OJ jokes were funnyHe was but that comedic well was run dry years ago that there's honestly nothing fresh or funny left to say especially with that sense of humour being eviscerated after being outed like he was.
We're just lucky he didn't bring up OJ Simpson again I suooiae.
I found the "he rapes but he saves" joke hilarious, maybe we can at least appreciate comedy without thinking of political correctness for once?I feel bad for him to be honest.
He’s still head and shoulder above the rest when it comes to crafting the structure of a joke, timing etc... But it’s clear that he’s struggling badly with the new ‘norms’, so to speak, so he pushes back even harder and his materials come off as mean-spirited.
He also has this particularly callous outlook when issues pertaining to the people he’s close with or looked up to like MJ, Cosby, OJ Simpson, Kevin Hart, Louis C.K came up. The ‘he rapes but he saves’ is a big yikes, so is the ‘morning at school after weekend at MJ’s’.
I laughed at it, but when you think about it, it’s really callous. He’s basically saying that you are free to wreak whatever misery you want as long as you have the power/privilege to bestow favours on others. Isn’t that the societal structure that we are pushing back against?I found the "he rapes but he saves" joke hilarious, maybe we can at least appreciate comedy without thinking of political correctness for once?
He is not saying that because he believes it though, it's just his stand up persona, stand up is not a speech and should never be taken seriously, I'm pretty sure he called Cosby a villain as well for what it's worth.I laughed at it, but when you think about it, it’s really callous. That’s the problem for me. I’m a big Chappelle’s fan, I’ve lost count of the times I watched his Comedy Central skits, or his earlier specials like Killing Me Softly, For What It’s Worth. The old Chappelle is one of the oppressed, he punched up against the power structure, as he grew more successful and embedded himself in the world of big name celebrities and politicians, it became easier for him to punch down. I just can’t imagine a young Chappelle, as much as he struggles with the allegations’ credibility, saying that a kid should feel lucky to be molested by MJ.
Define bothered? I've seen a lot more eye-rolling than outrage, from my very social justice oriented circles. It was okay, not really great, but I expected something far more outrageous. People were bothered by these jokes? Weird.
Epilogue was disappointment, and that last Obama story, took way too long for very diminishing returns.
Jussie Smolé story? This one wasn't funny.
The schtick about political incorrectness is getting tedious. We get it, everyone is sensitive. Now can we get to the funny part of your special?
Best segment: his kid and the duck
Worst segment: the letters
He's better than that crap. Won't be getting that time back unfortunately.

I believe he was referencing leaving neverland. I watched that in February and thought the exact same as Dave. That Safechuck and Robson were lying little snakes. The whole documentary was a sham. The rest was Dave being twisted. Something he always has been.He was but that comedic well was run dry years ago that there's honestly nothing fresh or funny left to say especially with that sense of humour being eviscerated after being outed like he was.

Jussie Smolé story?
"How can I can't say the F word but I can drop N-Bombz?
Because you are not gay Dave.
But I'm not an N-Bomb either!"
All funnier than the duck gag. In fact that was the least memorable part. I guess we all have different tastes
Censoring comedy will definitely resolve these issues, and not divide people further.1930's - National Socialism/Fascism is on the rise. Dictatorships are in control of national governments and are ready for mass war.
Charlie Chaplin makes The Great Dictator
2019 - Far Right Nationalism is gaining power around the world, pushing forward the process of global warming with such acts as burning down the rainforest. Border across the world are becoming more militarised and white supremacy is shooting up places of worship.
Dave Chappell asks why he isn't allowed to say the word faggot on tv anymore.
Who is getting censored or wants comedy to be censored ?Censoring comedy will definitely resolve these issues, and not divide people further.
People who don't want certain things to be said to not cause offense.Who is getting censored or wants comedy to be censored ?
Such as ?People who don't want certain things to be said to not cause offense.
That's actually exactly what it is.Such as ?
Dave Chappell not being able to homophobic slurs on television isn't stopping free speech.
But it's ok for him to create Clayton Bigsby and the N-Bomb family? This was his point. Certain groups want exception and to control who he can joke about. It is not being homophobic if you understand the meaning of context. Dave Chapelle is a comedian. As far as I am aware he is neither racist nor a homophobe. Using the F word to tell a story e.g. in the Jussie Smollett part was a good joke e.g. "ain't you that N-bomb F-word from Empire". It helped create the scene of absurdity of Jussie's lieSuch as ?

It was necessary as these brigades are trying to censor and control everything. Next it will be video games and movies. Them music (imagine if they get after rap or hip hop) Cancel culture needs cancelling. It was a good point for sure. I struggled to crack a smile though.
I'd have to compose my thoughts on this better but I think he has bought in too much to the anti-PC narrative.

Oh yeah, 100%. I thought his special wasn't very ehh.. special either tbh. But that's different from trying to stop him to use certain words.Chappelle is beyond censoring. Shit, even Louis CK is doing shows again. And that's how it should be, but as art, the public should be able to critique.
What ?That's actually exactly what it is.
Er....yeah Dave being able to say the N word with impunity is also really stupid. Sadly the fictional encounter with fictional women Dave made up in his head wasn't sadly smart enough to point that out to him.But it's ok for him to create Clayton Bigsby and the N-Bomb family? It will become so ridiculous that it will cancel itself out imo.It was necessary as these brigades are trying to censor and control everything. Next it will be video games and movies. Them music (imagine if they get after rap or hip hop) Cancel culture needs cancelling.
Yeah, that's exactly the same situation.What ?
So Channel 4(Television channel in the UK) rejecting my script for a wheel of fortune style game show presented by the ghost of Frank Side Bottom is a attack against my free speech ?
A private television company deciding not to air something is called well having a editor/producer, not a attack on free speech.
Well hold on, I presented a idea to a tv network and they rejected it, Dave brought a idea to a tv network and they rejected it.Yeah, that's exactly the same situation.
Maybe and maybe not. I don't think Chappelle hates gay/bi/trans people but we all know there's a bit more to homophobe/transphobia than that.A question for you; do you honestly believe Chappelle is a homophobe?
