You're getting Matic confused with Fellaini.Really hope we avoid a lumbering sack of shit like Matic but I guess the aim is to make Tony Pulis jealous of all our big sweaty men...

Isn't he your captain now?Matic isn't the best DMF to stand against Barca attack either but at the same time, he would have been better than Carrick!by a mile. I don't want to see Carrick this season except in the cup games tbh.
Nice, real nice.Really hope we avoid a lumbering sack of shit like Matic but I guess the aim is to make Tony Pulis jealous of all our big sweaty men...

I think too many on here are conflating Chelsea's need to upgrade their players to suit their playing system better, with the players being replaced being useless. Conte tends to like mobile, dynamic players for his 3-4-3. Hence attempting to add the dynamism and legs of Bakayoko, and the back from loan Pasalic in place of Matic, plus squad men like Challobah and Loftus Cheek, kinda makes tactical sense. But just because a Matic suits their needs less, doesn't mean that is the case for other teams with different needs.
Ah right, Matic is tall so that must mean he's shit and only suited to Pulis hoof ball...Really hope we avoid a lumbering sack of shit like Matic but I guess the aim is to make Tony Pulis jealous of all our big sweaty men...
There's a reason Chelsea are getting rid, he's been on the decline for a while now. If its him or Dire I'd rather the spurs player (even though I'm not keen on either of them)Ah right, Matic is tall so that must mean he's shit and only suited to Pulis hoof ball...
He is not best suited to Conte's 3-4-3 and he won't sign a new contract. So they are willing to sell. There's a reason Chelsea are getting rid, he's been on the decline for a while now. If its him or Dire I'd rather the spurs player (even though I'm not keen on either of them)
If you only keep Baker I'll feel real bad for y'all. Especially if you sign no one else. Because from what I've seen he looks even more offensive minded than Cesc just as defensively unaware.None of Chalobah (sold), Pasalic or Loftus-Cheek (loaned) will be at Chelsea next season.
I hope we keep Matic, otherwise Lewis Baker is the only backup.
That is just not true. Player who are excellent postionally and never allow to be dragged about, who are good I'm tight spaces are crucial to breaking any pressing system. This transition isn't going to magically happen nor is it going to be aided by a DM that can barely get turned around, which also makes any midifield dominating hard to do as Matic vs the press is a liability....
It isn't. Just making the point that it was a weird choice for captain when he might not even be starting.Since when armband is a guarantee for a starter ?
I'm no expert on Matic but I think the reason Chelsea don't want him anymore is because he is a pure DM and it doesn't fit into their 343 formation. They need 2 mobile box-to-box midfielders. That is why they signed Bakayoko and not Fabinho. We need a player like Matic(a pure DM) so that we can free Pogba and let him play his natural game. The real question is whether we find a better DM than Matic. Looks like Jose rates Matic higher than Fabinho. There aren't too many other DMs available. The few I can think of are Casemiro, Busquets, Dier, Wanyama, Carvalho, Danilo, Parades and Weigl. Most of them are unavailable and others are not at Matic's level.
Us holding out for a huge fee I would think. This is dragging on a bit. What's the hold-up?
No one knows. This is dragging on a bit. What's the hold-up?
At the start of the summer the in thing was "48 hours", then it became "72 hours", now as the journo's have become more and more inaccurate they are going for a whole week.James Duckers article today says we hope to finalize Matic in the next week
Team is already in Manchester and I would assume fly out Saturday morning for Sunday's game.Have a feeling it'll be done when we get back from the tour, hopefully before Sunday, can have some involvement in the 2 friendlies and the super cup

He's an unappreciated enabler of proven pedigree in this league under this manager.
Duffer do you rate Matic?
Let's wait and see who he is playing for on September 1st before I answer that.
Only kidding, yes, I do. He's got his limitations but he is generally a very effective player. I hope we keep him.
Busquets looks great because of their formation and style. When their midfield fell apart against psg he looked invisible.
Matthaus was a DM for Bayern when he's getting slow a lot. Bayern's collapse in 99' started when he was subbed out. Then you see Busquets, one of the recent great DM, who's not the pitbull-in-heat type DM either. It just shows how important player's intelligent above other attributes for a DM position.
Anyway, the aim for this season is challenging the league. Large part of Fergie's success in the league is by buying established PL players, in balanced with few imports. Matic may seem like a quick fix with less long-term view, but that is exactly what United need at this moment. To be back in the groove, and put its name back on the football map again.
Says Jose wants him before the start of the season.

Every midfielder needs help.
Swap you for Shaw and you give us £20 mil.

No way. Shaw + 20mil + Fellaini and you have a deal.Swap you for Shaw and you give us £20 mil.
Obviously I do, but he would look more out of place in another team. He never has to cover more than 5-10 yards before another team mate is helping him.You don't think Busquets is/was a great DM?
Stop that before you invite ridicule on yourself. Busquets would improve any team.Obviously I do, but he would look more out of place in another team. He never has to cover more than 5-10 yards before another team mate is helping him.
Look how many times our midfielders get isolated and caught running back up the pitch. It's more about team shape and the gaps we leave between the lines.
