Negredo to Man City

He finished the season very strong last year. 7 in 4 games., he ended the season scoring a goal every 120mins. From what I can tell looking at some Sevilla formations he needs to play alongside a striker, so how will that work at City? Surely they'd want a player that leads the line by himself?

Well that includes 4 goals against Valencia and if you saw the game and Valencia's defending, you'd probably be of the opinion that it wasnt that hard

Soldado and this fella, who's the better player and striker?

Soldado by a mile imo

Up there with the likes of Berbatov with his (normal) volleys. Not really into the bicycles though :D At least I dont think I've seen him score one yet

He's very good scoring with his head and while he isn't a particularly creative player, something that never gets talked about is that he can have good linkup play and set up a teammate well.

He really isn't worth the money they're paying for him, much like their other summer signings.

I was worried about what City would do this summer, with a good manager and the disappointment of last season to make up for, but not one of their moves so far has worried me in any way. Negredo wouldn't get in our team.

To be fair there aren't many strikers that would get into our team.

But yeah I don't rate Negredo much either, he is a solid striker but imo not even Chicharito level, let alone RvP or Ronney.

I'm also quite sure he won't be more than a backup striker but they needed one after losing Tevez and Balotelli.

Navas will be an excellent acquisition for them. He'd get into our team for sure. They were lacking in the wide player department last season and they've definitely made an improvement by signing him. Albeit, not a big enough improvement for me to be genuinely concerned.

A lot of right sided players would get into our team, thats more about the form of our players than a testament to how good they are. I do think Navas will be good for them though, purely for the same reason he's good for Spain

He plays wide.

It's good that they didn't manage to sign Isco as he's by far the most talented Spaniard they've been linked with

I wouldn't want him at United. He's decent, nothing more. Didn't score a single La Liga goal last season.

So if Suarez says his name, can we get him banned again for a few months?

Expecting goals from a winger is crazy. If they happen, they happen, but especially if they are classic touchline huggers like Valencia or like Navas, then goals are an absolute bonus, as they are rarely going to be in a position to score.

He had a total of 5 assists to go along with his zero goals.

If one of our wingers performed like that they'd be crucified on here. See Young/Valencia/Nani over the last season or two.

Thats just not true though. There's another wing to work the ball down and there is no reason for any kind of winger to not be in a good position to either get on the end of a pass or cross or be in a good position to get a shot away from the edge of the box. Even if its Bebe crossing.

What happened to Navas and his homesickness problem? I know he's now able to go playing international tournaments and such, but spending a few weeks with his compatriots is a whole different world to permanently living in another country where I don't think he speaks any of the language. I've got a feeling he'll return home to Spain at the end of the season.

Sometimes I can't help but think it was a load of media twonk as an answer to some stupid question.

He's a decent player, nothing less nothing more. For £24m they could have got Lewandowski who in spite of being an utter cnut and a mercenary is a superior player. He'll most likely be Dzeko replacement as they are quite similar, they're still going to sign another forward to cover fo Aguero I believe as Aguero and Negredo won't be enough to go through a whole 50+ games long season.
Yeah as if Lewandowski isn't set on Bayern and no other team's managed to buy him yet.

Del Nido has said he expects him to sign for City. So City are signing the striker who missed the most clear cut chances in the top 5 leagues

Betting suspended after being backed heavily at 1/12 to go to City. Seems like it is very close. Better than average striker but nothing great in my opinion. Would take Dzeko over him any day. It is really strange, despite City strengthening in all the areas I feel they needed, I don't think they have improved that much, even more so considering how much they will have spent.

Not really worried much about this signing. There are much better strikers out there.

It's an odd one - he isn't even young.
Unless they've got someone else coming in, Higuain for Aguero perhaps?

Yeah Soldado is a more reliable centre-forward, tidier touch and more ruthless goal scorer.

25 goals in la liga, which is just as good as the prem. Another good signing for them. They have bought very well in my opinion.

City's signings so far do not scare me in the slightest.

They are a lot better than most of the dross players in the league. They lost many points to weaker teams lasts season and I see them a lot better in that regard next year. They also have an improved manager.

Decent squad player, but won't improve their starting 11. Navas and Fernandinho are good signings IMO that will improve their starting lineup a lot but Negredo isn't anything special.

I think that has been the purpose of most of their purchases this season to strengthen their squad depth and not necessary their first eleven which is quite good as it is.
