NEEDED: A Left-Footed Winger

Did anyone watch Morrison last night for the reserves? Apparently he was brilliant. Darren Solomon (or someone like that on Twitter) could not stop praising him.

I don't believe he's a leftie but if he fulfills that potential we wouldn't need to worry about what foot he favours, he's going to be an awesome player.....but there's many a slip so let's keep fingers crossed this lad progresses.

Could be the most exciting thing since Ronaldo

I guess we hope Chelsea do take 4th, Tottenham goes 5th.

Bale then more likely to want out to play some CL.

Sanchez is apparently looking to move on at the end of the season...so....yeah.

My French friend says Obertan has always played on the left side.

Chelsea will take 3rd. City and Tottenham will battle for 4th, City'll get it.

I'd take Sanchez over any left footed winger.

Me too, I don't think having a left footer is important, but having another winger than operate as a playmaker like Sanchez or Hazard can would be ideal.

I'm not sure Hazard is big enough for the PL. He's tiny that lad. Would seriously need to bulk up.

Oh, Lord, not this stunted, redundant cliche yet again. You don't need to be a towering bruiser to play in the PL, it's a myth, and a stupid one at that. The main attribute that you need in PL is speed - it's a fast league more than it is physical. Look at Sheva - big lad, came when he'd lost half a yard, ineffective.

Hazard is below average height, he's the same height as Scholes and Messi, and he's 20, so obviously he's gonna fill out somewhat.

Just to think would Giggs have gone on to become the legend he has if we'd signed Robben when we could've.. knowing Giggsy he'd just have adapted and carved out a new role for himself, but Robben has always been my favourite left winger of recent times who even merits comparison to Giggs in terms of style.

I'd love to see us find the new breakout left winger, Bale seems beyond our price range.

Between Robben's injuries and us having to ration Giggsy's appearances, I think we would easily have had room for both. Accomodating Robben and Ronaldo in the same team might have been a bit more tricky, as they're both work shy defensively and they're both prone to ball-hogging. If it worked though, and it probably would have, it would have been devastating.

Pure wingers just aren't worth the admission money in the modern game, you need all-round attackers like Nani or Nasri who can give you a lot more than your Lennon's or Adam Johnson's.

Antonio Valencia is the very definition of a pure winger IMO. I'll say he's worth the admission money in the modern game.

Yes but they have a left-footed left back behind them. What happens if Evra leaves?

That's a bit of a strange question, why would he leave? Maybe we'd replace him with another left-footed left back?

Fabio being right-footed doesn't stop him from holding the width regardless so I don't see why being left-footed matters so much. It didn't stop Lahm and Ribery forming an excellent partnership.

Neither is Neymar...

He plays wide left plenty. He's not left footed though.

Especially as we'd have Anderson playing left central midfield, or left of a midfield 3. Either way he could overlap

That clearly means we have no alternative but to shove Anderson into the left back position. He's left footed and will definitely do well there as that's all you need really.

You just need to take a look at arguably our best left back ever Denis Irwin to realise that it will all end in disaster if we don't have a left footed player playing on the left side of the field.

?

Do you mean " it won't end in disaster"

Yeah cause they've been great ;)

I'm not saying Hazard wouldn't be good, but Sanchez is just as quick, bigger and stronger. I'l prefer him.

I feel the same, Sanchez is tailor made for the Prem and United.

Lot of people seem to be in agreement regarding Sanchez and should be a United target - for some reason feel it's going to be like Ozil again when it comes to him, fans will yearn for him but, someone else will sign him. Nothing rational but, a feeling in my gut.

Definitely could use another good prospect for a winger but, I think it needs to be a prospect and not a player that will want to start every game per se next season being an established player. A player like Bale would want to be a starter most games. That means relegating Nani or Valencia next season to a lot more games on the bench when both of them should be close to every game starters themselves. Not to mention Giggs and Park competing for spots and even Cleverly.

I really was looking forward to Nani and Valencia on the wings this season - would be absolutely rape on a lot of teams. Too bad about the injury but, lets see what happens when Valencia comes back. We should get a lot better feel for the team chemistry when Nani lines up on the left with Valencia on the right and even possibly Park or Giggs playing behind a striker in some of the bigger fixtures.
