NCAA College Football 2017/2018

Bizarre kickoff with PSU only needing a FG to win. I understand Barkley's threat but I'd rather he beat me on a return.

That said, OSU pass rush is good.

Barrett just willed OSU to victory, great clutch performance. Penn State played too conservative trying to close that out.

Alabama v Ohio State in the title game is the college football equivalent of City vs PSG in the CL Final. The two most obnoxious fan bases in college sports.

Shift in AP rankings after yesterday:

1. Alabama (SEC)
2. Georgia (SEC)
3. Ohio State (Big Ten)
4. Wisconsin (Big Ten)
5. Notre Dame (Div. I FBS Independents)
6. Clemson (ACC)
7. Penn State (Big Ten)
8. Oklahoma (Big 12)
9. Miami (ACC)
10. TCU (Big 12)
11. Oklahoma State (Big 12)
12. Washington (Pac-12)
13. Virginia Tech (ACC)
14. Iowa State (Big 12)
15. UCF (American)
16. Auburn (SEC)
17. USC (Pac-12)
18. Stanford (Pac-12)
19. LSU (SEC)
20. North Carolina State (ACC)
21. Mississippi State (SEC)
22. Memphis (American)
23. Arizona (Pac-12)
24. Michigan State (Big Ten)
25. Washington State (Pac-12)

- If Alabama and Georgia win out from here until the SEC championship game, they both get into the CFP, unless the score is extremely lopsided. Alabama play 3 ranked opponents in the next 3 weeks. Georgia plays 1. Common team here is Auburn...
- Wisconsin won't get the same privilege if they lose to the Big Ten east winner; they'll be penalized for an extremely weak schedule (no ranked opponents from here on out, including Michigan). Ohio State have no margin for error, playing against Michigan State and Michigan soon.
- Clemson is out of contention for the ACC title and the playoffs if they lose to NC State next weekend. Winning all grants them the tie-breaker in their division, sending them off to the ACC championship game...
- Undefeated Miami face Virginia Tech and Notre Dame in the next 2 weeks. Winning those 2 games sends them to the ACC championship game, and catapults them over other 1 loss teams. Excited yet @Raoul?
- If Notre Dame win the rest of their games, they'll get into the playoffs at the expense of the loser of the Big 10 championship game, if Big 10 teams win from here on out.
- OU vs OSU next week. TCU plays unranked Texas this week and OU the week after. Big 12 picture will be much clearer in 2 weeks.
- Unless the unthinkable happens it's lights out for the Pac 12. Washington at 12 is the only 1 loss team in the conference.
- Why did Florida wait until Georgia ran through them to sack McElwain?

The CFP committee release their first rankings on Tuesday.

The VaTech game is huge for Miami in that it will define whether we go to the ACCCP. If we lose to Tech and beat Notre Dame the next week, it won't count for much without any hope of winning the ACC.

Beating Notre Dame will count for way more than making the ACC Championship game.

Not in the final polls it won't. We would've lost to Va Tech so would be well out of the top 10 by that point, so even we beat ND, it wouldn't matter in the NCG picture.

CFP rankings are out...or...in:
  1. Dawgs
  2. Bama
  3. ND
  4. Clemson
  5. OU
  6. tOSU
The Committee valuing head to head more than the AP poll. I think they're more correct on Clemson as well.

Big games this weekend that could shake up the polls:

Penn St v Michigan State
NC State v Clemson
Ohio St v Iowa
South Carolina v Georgia
Miami v Va Tech
Wake Forrest v Notre Dame
Oklahoma v Oklahoma St
LSU v Alabama

Expect a complete shake up in the top 10 as at least one or more of the favorites might lose.

Bedlam might look like the record-setting OU-Tech game from last year. Not one for the old-school purists, but a lot of fun.

I don't. We're not the #4 team in the country right now. I'd have us behind Ohio St and Penn St but ahead of Oklahoma.

1 Georgia 8-0, vs. South Carolina, 23.5 pt favorite
2 Alabama 8-0, vs. LSU, 21.5 pt favorite
3 Notre Dame 7-1, vs. Wake Forest, 14 pt favorite
4 Clemson 7-1, @NC St. 7.5 pt favorite
5 Oklahoma 7-1, @OK St. 2.5 pt underdog
6 Ohio State 7-1, @Iowa, 17.5 pt favorite
7 Penn State 7-1, @MichSt. 8.5 pt favorite
8 TCU 7-1, vs. Texas, 7 pt. favorite
9 Wisconsin 8-0, @Indiana, 13.5 pt favorite
10 Miami (FL) 7-0, vs. VA Tech, 2.5 pt underdog

I think Georgia got too much credit for defeating a ND that weren't that formidable early on in the season. I'm sure the rankings for all teams will update in the next few weeks due to upsets and near-loss wins.

My friend is seething at the fact that Wisconsin can win all their games, including the championship, and still not get into the playoffs.

That and I don't think Georgia have had a terribly difficult schedule so far.

Iowa up 31-17 on Ohio State at half, Clemson losing at half, Penn State tied up at half, Iowa State losing at half.

Could be another shakeup this weekend.
