NBA 2024-2025

Being able to guard multiple positions including center as a point guard obviously makes Magic a better defender than Curry. Only the most delusional of warrior fans would compare the two defensively.

As to Kareem you made a ridiculous claim and got called out on it and now you've backtracked by saying you missed most of his career. It's not hard to find old Kareem highlights on YouTube.
Being able to guard multiple positions does not make you a great defender if you are not able to do any of them particularly well. The Lakers would often have Magic guarding non point guards because he had so much trouble against them.

As to Kareem. I'm obviously willing to listen to somebody who saw him in his prime. I didn't. The highlights comment is just ridiculous. They're called highlights for a reason. I based what I said on what I saw. I'm willing to accept I was in error because somebody who did see him corrected me (nicely I might add).

it’s not really a happy thread. when all you do is circle jerk about the same team, players, and discussions endlessly.
I’m happy to chat about the Drexler/Robinson/Porter/Sabonus era(s) if you want to talk Blazers.

There's only one Blazers GOAT.

listen fella's this is one of the happy threads on this hellscape, so let's stop fighting and see what KAJ has to say on the topic:

It seems me and Timmy's dad thought along the same lines, because in his later years that's kind of what I remember.

thanks but that’s too long ago and kinda depressing. now shaedon sharpe or camara this season. yesss. @Sarni what’s the best outcome for us regarding the play-in spot? suns and mavs both seem to have tough schedules too.

Between Portland, Phoenix and Dallas for the 10th seed but I wouldn't expect Dallas to win too many games from now on, they will be in full on tank mode.

Depressing? Those were amazing teams to watch, but yeah, I get it.

even if AD comes back from injury? aren't they obligated to try since they traded for him.
No point trying without Kyrie. They need to trade AD in the Summer anyway.

Or at least should. What they will do is trade the pick and some players for KD.

Tough loss for the Suns. Will be a hard loss to recover from. Down 20 plus and then fight your way back to tie it with a last second shot only to lose in OT.

That's gotta hurt.

I can’t wait to see this Boston-LA Lakers match-up, it will be gonna tough for Boston(I’m a Boston fan).

I'd like for the Lakers to rest Lebron and Luka ( maybe Reaves too, though he probably needs some gametime having just come back from injury) and just take it as a schedule loss. I know we beat Boston in Boston with out AD and Lebron recently so it's possible our players can do it again but no need to give the league what it wants. Get the sure win in Brooklyn after and then if we get one win out of @ Denver and @ Milwaukee that's a decent road trip. After those four games we still have 9 games left in March including four back to backs. The last thing the Lakers need is an injury to Lebron or Luka and that is way more crucial to their playoff success than a couple of wins here and there. As long as we get out of this brutal schedule ( lots of games rescheduled because of the wildfires) injury free then I'll be ok if we drop to third or even fourth in the west.

In fairness, unlike with Embiid - who was a worthy winner but clearly a lesser player - SGA might genuinely be the better player this season. Which is incredible to even type out but here we are

Jokic is the MVP. Only reason he won’t get it this year is because of his team record which is a whole lot of bullshit because OKC just has a much better team this year.

It’s gutting. Didn’t expect us to be so close only to lose in OT.
Two absolutely moronic plays right at the end cost you badly. The possession where Booker passed to Allen late in the shot clock and ended up turning the ball over without getting a shot off and then Plumlee getting the rebound but getting stripped by MPJ leading to the easy deuce. The Durant three to send it to OT was nice but should have put them away already.

Based on what?
Any criteria you could pick. Statistically they're so close in pretty much every advanced metric that any difference might come down to teammates/variance. And the Thunder are one of the best RS teams *ever* with SGA on the floor

You should have won the game really. KD was absolutely mauled on the possession before Denver hit a 3 to go up 125-122.

30/20/20. Nice numbers.

I am not sure what is wrong with Denver. Can't hold 20+ lead at home. Last year that happened twice in very, very important matches:
- Blew large lead to Spurs and lost the second seed. That sent them to Lakers first and then T-Wolves.
- Blew 20+ lead to T-Wolves at home in game 7.

Michael Malone is very average coach who stumbled into Nikola Jokic. Terrible game manager.

Put Jokic in that Thunder team with that capable coach and I don't think Thunder would lose more than 10 games in entire season. I actually do not mind SGA winning MVP at all. Embid promoting himself to MVP was ridiculous while SGA is fine.

I honestly think MVP should be renamed. Should be called "MFP" - media favorite player. The word valuable is easily quantified by comparing two teams without their best player. Thunder without SGA are still very, very serious team, Denver is total garbage without Jokic.

I was listening to a podcast and I still can't get around the idea that the Wolves tried and may try to get Durant.

Media personalities also seem to be clamoring for SGA.
Because Jokic doesn’t interview well and they’re tired of voting for him.

And also the league is clearly trying to promote younger players who are more fun and trying to push them into being the new face of the league. Jokic doesn’t fit the profile because he treats it like a 9-5 job and just wants to disappear once the game is over.

And SGA is the guy to promote over Jokic?

I don't disagree with the voter's fatigue argument, but if it was about promoting someone other than Jokic, the narratives would be for Ant Edwards, Giannis, Tatum or Mitchell even. Not the soft-spoken, polite and extremely bland canadian kid who, let's face it, isn't exactly the most aesthetically eye-catching player either

SGA winning is fine for me, its w/e but pattern is for everybody to see, just like previous time to take it you have to be foul baiting merchant as well, for previous guy it didnt translate well in post seasons and numbers went down. There is nothing to hate on OKC from org stand point, majority i guess were well drafted and developed, when you see their current contracts its clear that now is the time to strike. I mean you have 3 great players from OKC combined on the same money as Bradley Beal, Denver also was giving max contracts left and right like there are orgs drooling for chance to give max to MPJ and JM.

This whole getting bag schtick is getting out of hand, more and more you have situations where you aint getting value of money and then you expecting players on rookie and vet contracts to provide way more than on money they on.

Luka has been absolute shit tonight. Looks to be sick or injured? Whatever it is, his energy level is about a 2, and that scale is already Luka adjusted.

That whole third quarter was absolute garbage. Luka had 5 turnovers but was otherwise ok. The whole team just couldn't match Bostons energy for the entire 48. Rui and Hayes would have made a difference. Not too far away from championship level. Will be tough this year but I give us a 35% chance to make it out of the west.

Would have lost that game a month ago.

With JJJ out, and now us losing Amen Thompson, as well FVV and Sheppard already being out, I think you guys might be nailed on for 4th. We have to play Jalen Green at the 1 now.

Congrats to Steph on 25k. Also, nothing demonstrates the absurdity of LeBron quite like one of the NBA most prolific all time scorers hitting 25K the same week LeBron hits 50k.

This actually puts it in perspective. Steph even has multiple scoring titles. Insane.
