NBA 2024-2025

Congrats to Steph on 25k. Also, nothing demonstrates the absurdity of LeBron quite like one of the NBA most prolific all time scorers hitting 25K the same week LeBron hits 50k.
Kind of an apples vs oranges comparison that one, since one is regular season points (Steph) and the other is total points including playoffs (LeBron).

A more telling statistic that I saw earlier this week is that LeBron was player of the month in February 2025 which was over 20 years after his first one (Nov 2004). So not only is he still playing 20+ years later, he is still playing at an elite level.

Sure, then it’s basically hitting 29k total points (assuming he get 17 tomorrow) the same “week” LeBron hit 50. Still absurd.

Looking at the list he should finish his career in the top 10. I assume he passes Westbrook, but Harden, and definitely KD, are going to be hard to catch.

It really is, but so many of his numbers are absurd. There is a good chance he will hit 300 playoff games this season and he already has over 8,000 playoff points. Not that dissimilar from what Anthony Edwards has for his regular season career (8,600).

Yep. Thunder too good. SGA is MVP. MPJ needs to be replaced with a better player. Michael Malone is a terrible coach. The final score doesn't reflect the game, but what can ya do.
Massive uphill battle for Denver with Jokic carrying an injury. I didn’t get to watch it all but don’t think they were bad….okc were just better

That whole third quarter was absolute garbage. Luka had 5 turnovers but was otherwise ok. The whole team just couldn't match Bostons energy for the entire 48. Rui and Hayes would have made a difference. Not too far away from championship level. Will be tough this year but I give us a 35% chance to make it out of the west.
The bookies currently give the Lakers about a 17% chance of winning the West.

Full odds (approx):

OKC 55%
Lakers 16.7%
Nuggets 13.3%
Warriors 12.5%
Everybody else 2.5%

Personally, like you I'd give the Lakers a better shot than the bookies, just because of the experience factor. I think OKC are better, but LeBron is hard to beat. I give the Dubs a punchers chance for the same reason with Steph and Jimmy Butler.

Denver was competitive for about 40 minutes but you could just tell they are barely hanging on. Maybe fully healthy Nuggets can compete with Thunder, but that appears it is not going to happen. Not sure what is happening with Aaron's calf. He keeps re-injuring it. 3rd time he has re-injured it this year.

Maybe this is Thunder's year. I would not hate it if they won it. They built the team organically and I respect that a lot.

Nuggets look like a lottery team when Jokic isn't playing, and yet he's got his team fighting for the 2 seed. Shai is great, and he would be deserving MVP if he won it, but imo Jokic is the clear MVP again this season.

I think there's a difference between best player and most valuable player. I think Jokic is indisputably the best player, but there are many occasions where Jokic plays well enough to stop the Nuggets getting a hammering, but they still lose. A loss is still a loss, no matter how good individually Jokic has been. OKC, on the other hand, keep winning. Much more "value" in winning. I'd give it to Shai.

Shai gets a much, much more help though. They’re not only the number one defensive team in the league, they are a historically great defence. If you combined the two starting five’s you’d probably only have Jokic and Murray in the top 8, and definitely only Jokic in the top 4. Jokic keeps his team borderline 2 seed, they’d be battling for a play-in spot without him. OKC are still a very very good team without Shai.

There’s something to be said about being the best player on the best team in the league. It’s why think SGA would be a deserving MVP if he got it, but I still think Jokic is doing more with less and he’s having his own historically great season individually.

SGA is the icing on the cake. Jokic is the whole cake, and the main course….and the dining table

Lakers offense was much more fluid before Luka came. Honestly the offense kinda sucks, its all luka ball. This reminds me of how when Lebron was younger they used to play lebron ball. Also maybe right now he is struggling but Lukas touch around the rim is pretty bad right now.

Thank feck he sucked when I went to watch them play the Pistons earlier this season. That was a fun for a non LA fan. Got to see my team win, while watching LeBron play almost the entire game bc the Lakers were chasing the game.

What a performance from the real MVP and the depleted Nuggz!!! When Murray plays like tonight Nuggz are not just contenders but clear title favorites. Yep, I am a bit hyped up haha.

Jokic 15/20 on 2 fecked elbows and ankle, wonder with what pain med they pumped him, already said it but OKC really needs to take advantage of their current contracts, because when max contracts starts taking tolls its getting tricky, Denver knows that just like some other teams, MPJ and Murray are overpaid and now their production is like a anchor over Jokic neck.

Specially Murray, guy is definition of 50%, he comes out of shape for the season and starts doing better after 1st half, OKC games shows that, yesterday guy nowhere to be seen, tonight much better and thats your 100% max contract that impacts your cap, trade options etc.

Bad loss tonight for the Lakers. They could be in a bit of trouble if LeBron is out for any length of time. They have 6 games in 8 days with 3 back to backs.

Ouch!
